This is a wonderful story of caring, loving and suspense. A young boy is found in a dumper clutching a Christmas book, he is scared, hungry and refusing to speak. The person who found him a teacher named Sophie Bartholomew and an undercover agent Kade McKendrick's. There was no record of this child and Kade continued to hunt for information while taking the child under his roof. Sophie brought the young man to classes with her to bond with other children and quickly saw that he was intelligent an ...more

I can't tell you how much I loved this book. I wish I could have given it more stars. The quick wit of Kade and his Aunt made me laugh out loud. Kade McKentrick came to Redemption for some R&R from an undercover job he had recently finished. With a chip on his shoulder, Christmas just wasn't in his plans, now or ever. Entering into the story is an elementary school teacher Sophie who jumps into a dumpster to rescue a little boy lost and scared. With Kade, not far behind the dumpster dive, the ...more

Kade & Sophie meet as they try and help Davey, a young boy Popbottle Jones finds in the dumpster in Redemption. A good Christmas miracle story!
Jeanne
Sweet little story about a boy found in a dumpster and the man and woman who come together to help him.
John Hanscom
Sweet but little substance.

There's a lot to like in this story of a stray boy, a fifth-grade teacher and a burned-out big city cop. Honestly, I wanted to give it four stars I enjoyed it so much. The writing is solid, the characters fun and the small town Christmas setting was perfect for a December evening curled up under a blanket with carols playing in the background. I even liked the grouchy old aunt, who managed to be fun but never annoying or stereotypical.

The only reason I downgraded this book was the fact that it w

The Christmas Child (Love Inspired Don’t be fooled by the Inspirational label on this book. The attractions and character arcs are just as powerful here as they are in any of the more…robust/rowdy/racy (take your pick) romances. Federal cop Kade McKendrick, the flawed alpha hero, is banished to Redemption, Oklahoma as the result of an undercover op gone all to hell back in Chicago. Stuck in a small town for the holidays, he sure didn’t expect his sleepless nights to get even more complicated by ...more

Linda Goodnight is one of the two authors who first got me hooked on the Love Inspired line of books (the other being Jillian Hart). Her stories are heartwarming, the settings charming (love the town of Redemption), and the characters well drawn out and easy to connect with.

Kade, staying temporarily with his aunt in Redemption, is the ultimate wounded warrior, an undercover cop who's faith has been shaken by the human horrors he has witnessed on the job in Chicago. Sophie is an optimistic and u

This was a good Christmas story, that I bought in a set of three for my kindle. An eight year old mute boy is found in a dumpster, by a school teacher and a recuperating Chicago cop. It's a story of new beginnings, and growing love for the three of them, as they search for the boys family.

This is the 4th book I read by Linda Goodnight. This book's story line was sad & touching. I liked Kade & Sophie's character. I liked Davey's character also. My heart broke for Davey. I thought Davey was a very tough & brave child for all he went through. I liked the ending.

This is such a sweet Christmas story, and I loved some of the characters. They are so well done. Kade Mckendrick's Aunt Ida June has loads of spunk, and she is such fun to read about! My heart also went out to little Davey, especially since I have been involved in the foster care system. I wanted to tear up several times. I wish the story would have gone just a little bit farther into the future, because it seemed somewhat unfinished without an epilogue. I assume the author will continue the sto ...more

Good book I really liked the way that Kade and Sophie immediately took care of Davey. Kade was a cynical cop who was determined to find out why Davey was found all alone in a dumpster. Sophie was a loving woman who just wanted to care for him. She also saw something in Kade that appealed to her. Kade was sure that he didn't deserve to be loved, especially by her. As they worked to uncover Davey's story, they grew closer, and Sophie's faith began to have an impact on Kade. I loved the way the tow ...more

A Linda Goodnight story is always a good read. Loved that the heroine was sweet from the very beginning with no major angst or negative backstory. Loved that the heroine and hero were attracted to each other right from the start. Loved that the story made me think about what it means to love unconditionally, and that it featured a physically challenged child in a very unusual storyline. Lovely tale.
