From Bahama Breeze, by Eddie Jones

"Plus, there's that name, Boz Scaggs. Is that cool, or what? I remember listening to Silk Degrees my sophomore year in college." Joe said. "Met this girl at Myrtle Beach. Short dark hair, dimpled cheeks, baby-doll button eyes. At night, I'd bring my portable eight-track player down to the pool and we'd float around, and listen to Silk Degrees over and over again. I can still hear those 'Harbor Lights' calling me. She was my siren song." "Siren song?" asked Anna.

This book caught me off-guard. I expected it to be some madcap adventure that would make me laugh out loud. Well, it was, and I did. Laughs are premium, these days, so any book that achieves this, I consider a good book. It had a rollicking good plot, too, one that you couldn't figure out where it could go next, even if you tried. With a colorful cast of characters, Bahama Breeze takes its readers on an excursion through the Caribbean. Imagine Gilligan’s Island meets Get Smart. The book’s subtitle “A Novel of Hijacks & Hijinks on the High Seas” is fitting.

Anna Fortune works intelligence for the U.S. government and Sonny Cay is a washed up toilet paper salesman trying to recapture his past love (Anna) before he dies of cancer. Mix in Anna’s boss, Tommy “Two-Pin,” who always has a snappy comeback, much like Hawkeye Pie

Bahama Breeze is a sweet and funny romance that will leave the reader with a smile on their face after the story is over. A refreshing story, it's fairly light and very comical. I enjoyed the turn of events in the book. Anna and Sonny are unique characters that were well thought out and they shined brightly through the pages.

I enjoyed this story, with all its quirky, amusing moments that happened throughout the plot. Anna works for the government, but she is quite forgetful in some aspects, like

“Bert, a slow moving tropical storm that had spent the past few days wandering around the Bahamas like a dog looking to do its business. Circle once, circle twice, and squat. Now the storm had settled over Cockroach Cay, prompting Sonny to conclude that renting a sailboat during hurricane season, while exciting and dangerous, was too much fun for him. He was glad they were still at the dock.” 1 likes
“Sonny plunged back to earth like Neil Armstrong. Or maybe it was Lance Armstrong. Sonny could never remember which man had ridden around the moon seven times. But he knew he was headed for a splashdown.” 0 likes
