Atmosphere, this book is thick with it. From the very first page it builds until it is such a cloying tension it grips you hard and fast. It's very hard to capture the tone of this work in a brief review, but I can tell you it gave me a very real sense of despair and desolation.

But wow - Heather Killough-Walden can really write! She paints Gabriel with a deep Scottish brogue, and he is built like the granite of the highlands. Black shot through with silver, muscles and stature of the archangel he is, and an intensity of wrath and forgiveness entwined deeply together, and it was captivating to read the meeting between an angel and his archess.

The land of Scotland comes so richly to life in this work, you feel as if you are standing in a field of heather overlooking a cold gray sea, inhaling loam and wildflowers, heather and sea salt, mist and hope, while a dense fog rolls in to blanket you in a fey cloak of magic and ethereal possibilities.

It's a harsh and romantic climate, it lends itself easily to clandestine darkness and the illegal elite. None are more elite than the first fallen archangels who have their own agenda to claim these archesses for their own survival.

Sam was as usual a complete enigma with an agenda only he can foresee, and I am waiting on his moment with baited breath.

This book is gripping, compelling, engaging, and despite being so long ends far too soon. The promise at the end I anticipated, and am enthralled at what looks to be the next book in this angel series.

I cannot recommend this book enough. It is writing of the finest kind. Romance has never been this enticing or action packed. It's a complete delight to read this novel, it drags you away from all your responsibilities and thrusts you into a world where you long to tread, secretly, speaking in whispers and looking over your shoulder, waiting for a hearth and a man to stand before you and stop your heart and steal your breath in a fated moment of destiny.

this book was as great as the first book, if not more so. the only thing i didn't like too much who how much attention was pointed at the Adarians. There was too much about them and in all the good bits. like as soon as the book good super exciting it would end the persons point of view and turn to someone else. Dopo quasi un mese e con uno sforzo erculeo sono finalmente riuscita a finire questo libro. Globalmente parlando non è un brutto romanzo (tralasciando il ritmo alquanto lento della narrazione XD) ma le pecche sono varie ed evidenti e se alcune erano scusabili nel primo romanzo che fungeva da "introduzione" non lo sono altrettanto nel secondo. Juliette non riesce ancora a credere all'enorme fortuna che ha avuto quando Samuel Lambent, il magnate dei media, l'ha contattata per offrirle un contratto in cui le sue ricerche sul campo in Scozia sarebbe state utilizzate per un programma di sua creazione, addirittura finalizzando i suoi viaggi e il materiale necessario! Certo, avrebbe potuto scegliere milioni di ricercatori più esperti invece di lei, e ciò dovrebbe farla riflettere, ma tanto è l'entusiasmo per questa possibilità che non ci fa caso, reputandolo un semplice dono della fortuna. D'altronde, come potrebbe conoscere la vera identità di Samuel e il reale motivo per cui l'ha cercata?
Accanto a questo viaggio, se ne affiancherà un'altro, più lento e all'inizio volutamente ignorato, che riguarda il riconoscimento di ciò che è in grado di fare. Scatenare fulmini, tempeste, muovere oggetti col pensiero... e guarire le persone. Il che fa di lei la seconda cherubina, dopo Eleanore, ora moglie di Uriel/Christopher Daniels, già nominata nel primo libro. Ovviamente, lei non sa nulla, inconsapevole sia del significato di questi poteri, che del fatto di essere in grave pericolo. Oltre Samuel, infatti, anche gli Adariani la vogliono, capitanati da un Kevin smanioso di catturare tutte le cherubine -Eleanore in particolare- e ottenere il bramato potere di curare con un tocco.

Ma il cammino più emozionante è sicuramente quello del crescente rapporto tra Juliette e l'angelo a cui la vedremo affiancata. E stavolta, dopo Uriel, tocca al bellissimo Gabriele. Ho cominciato ad amare questa coppia ancor prima del loro incontro! Nello stesso luogo più di una volta senza vedersi, pensando l'uno all'altra, Gabriele invidiando il fratello per aver trovato la sua cherubina, che l'ha reso diverso e felice in così poco tempo da far quasi evaporare il pensiero di duemila anni d'attesa, Juliette tormentata dall'intrigante e meraviglioso uomo visto nei suoi sogni, occhi d'un profondo grigio da farla avvampare al solo pensiero.
Ma è quando si incontrano che scoppiano le scintille. E nonostante l'enorme attrazione per un perfetto sconosciuto, il turbamento e la confusione di Juliette non mancano di farla rinsanire.
Juliette non si fidava di Gabriele Black. Niente in lui le ispirava fiducia: quel corpo alto e forte, i penetranti occhi argento, il viso incredibilmente bello e l'accento, che la faceva squagliare. Non si fidava del suo aggraziato modo di muoversi, nè del suo profumo sensuale o della soggiogante perfezione del suo dannato bacio. Indubbiamente, non si fidava di quel bacio.
Gabriele però non riesce a starle lontano. L'emozione per aver finalmente trovato la sua cherubina... oh, come mi palpitava il cuore, leggendo dei suoi pensieri, come se un'agonia a lungo subita fosse finalmente cessata! E adesso che l'aveva trovata, due diverse fazioni di angeli volevano portargliela via. Agguerrito come non mai, potete già intuire che non permetterà mai che una cosa simile accada.. e ovviamente i suoi fratelli, insieme ad Eleanore, andranno più volte in suo aiuto. Purtroppo, però, conquistare il cuore e la fiducia di Juliette sarà una battaglia che dovrà affrontare da solo... e che battaglia!

Ma non è tutto. Oltre all'aspetto romantico, mitologico e d'azione, cominciamo a comprendere sempre più ciò che comporta essere una cherubina. Non è solo una questione di riconoscere l'arcangelo a cui ognuna di loro è legata, e viceversa. E' un'unione più profonda, che rispecchia l'essenza del loro compagno. Non voglio svelarvi troppo, poichè per me stessa è stata una piacevole sorpresa scoprire che c'era dell'altro, lasciandomi carpire sfumature sempre più vaste di questa intrigante storia.
Lo stesso rapporto varia da una coppia all'altra, e anche se mi verrebbe da dire che ho apprezzato maggiormente quella composta da Uriel e Eleanor, non esiste una configurazione standar delle relazioni fra arcangeli e cherubine da cui poter partire per analizzare ogni coppia. Perciò ho trovato in entrambe un'intesa e un modo di fare che non posso paragonare, ma che ho apprezzato e di cui mi sono letteralmente infatuata!

E aspettate di sentirvi scorrere sulla pelle l'adrenalina che precede ogni scontro.. e lo scoppio dell'azione nelle vene, la sensazione di avere a portata di mano l'esito della battaglia, eppure indugiare ancora fino all'ultimo col dubbio che quest'intrigante quanto possente gruppo di angeli possa perdere il suo vantaggio. Per non parlare del modo in cui il libro finisce... sempre così irrimediabilmente in sospeso... quanto mi faranno attendere stavolta??

Mi sento quasi in colpa ad averlo divorato tanto in fretta, avrei voluto che durasse in eterno. Non riesco a capacitarmi del fatto che sia finito così! E'... terribilmente frustrante, come quando un forte vento vi investe, costringendovi a chiudere gli occhi e cercare subito un appiglio per non cadere e poi di colpo... si fermasse, lasciandovi storditi. Ecco, sono stordita, completamente. Ma sono sicura che un'intensità simile, se non maggiore, mi terrà incollata al sequel, nel momento in cui uscirà. Spero che la leggereditore non ci faccia aspettare troppo! Prevedo problemi e guai e tante domande a cui devo assolutamente trovare una risposta. She is finally going to Scotland! Juliet is frightened by her healing abilities and haunted by dreams of historic Scotland but excited by the prospect of finally travelling there.

However, when she arrives in Scotland nothing goes to plan. A rogue Andarian is determined to track her down and capture her in an attempt to regain credibility with his leader. Gabriel sees her across a crowded pub and immediately recognises her as his soul mate … however, she hasn’t got a clue who the gorgeous stranger is when he accosts her! Life quickly spirals out of control as lives are endangered, chases ensue and Juliet has to decide who she can and cannot trust. Innocent people are injured and killed. Then Juliet begins to realise that this may not be her first visit to Scotland after all ….

Another action-packed, sensual and exciting story from Heather Killough Walden. I love the way that Heather weaves a scene with words, creating a visual picture with her talented mastery of language … I could almost hear Gabriel’s thick Scottish brogue!

I am now eagerly looking forward to Azrael’s story … another very sexy character!(less)

A ridiculous amount of years later after falling from heaven to find them, the archangels are beginning to find their destined loves.

I was fortunate enough to get an advanced copy of Avenger's Angel through Netgalley sometime last year and I absolutely fell in love with the angels and their world. Uriel's book was amazing and I couldn't wait to find out more about the second one. Well when I heard it was going to be Gabriel, I was ecstatic and couldn't wait to read it.

Gabriel has been passing himself off as a member of a Scottish community for hundreds of years. Every time he comes back to the village, he says he is a member of a certain family. They know he is a kind and generous man but there is only one person in the village who knows exactly what he is. But I digress since he isn't an essential role in the book but provides a good support system for Gabriel when he first finds his archesses he has been searching his whole life for. When he goes to find her, all hell breaks loose. Just like anything else in life, you have to work hard for what you really want. In the end, it was a match made in Heaven, literally. Gabriel's struggle to find and keep his archess, Juliette, is inspiring for it shows how great true love really is and to never quit looking for it.

I am not going to write much about the archess Juliette but I would rather just tell you to read the book. I will say the she is the perfect match for Gabriel which of course is how it is supposed to be. ;) I do feel sorry for her that she is thrown into this world and the chaos that ensues having no idea what is going on. She definitely is a strong woman who I held a great amount of admiration for. She does get extra brownie points from me at the end when we find out that her friend is possibly Azrael's lost archess. XD I am most excited for his book and December 31st can't come quick enough!!

Nel primo romanzo della serie Lost Angels siamo stati introdotti nell'universo mitologico creato da Heather Killough-Walden.
Sappiamo che i quattro noti arcangeli Uriel, Gabriele, Azrael e Michele sono sulla Terra in cerca delle loro cherubine (angeli donna creati da Dio appositamente per essere le loro anime gemelle) da migliaia di anni.
Questo secondo capitolo vede come protagonista principale Gabriele, il "Messaggero". L'arcangelo si divide tra gli Stati Uniti (dove svolge il suo lavoro di vigile del fuoco) e la Scozia, terra alla quale si sente molto legato e dove fa ritorno ogni certo numero di anni come membro di una comunità locale. Ed è proprio in Scozia che finalmente incontra per la prima volta la cherubina a lui destinata: Juliette.
Juliette è una minuta ed affascinante studentessa di antropologia da sempre attirata dalla Scozia, una ragazza dal cuore d'oro ma a corto di risorse finanziare. Proprio per questo motivo deciderà di accettare l'offerta del magnate dei media Samuel Lambert (ve lo ro ricordate vero?), di finanziare i suoi studi in Scozia svolgendo per suo conto alcune ricerche per una serie tv. Samuel o forse sarebbe meglio dire Samael, il Caduto, è un personaggio che mi attira molto fin dal libro precedente, intorno a lui c'è ancora quell'alone di mistero che non può che renderlo sempre più intrigante ai miei occhi (a questo proposito vi svelo che l'ultimo libro della saga, ossia il 5° sarà dedicato proprio a lui!).
Gabriele e Juliette dovranno affrontare diverse situazioni per avere il loro lieto fine, la nostra protagonista dovrà fare i conti con la verità che la riguarda: la sua condizione di cherubina e i suoi nuovi poteri di guaritrice e di manipolatrice degli agenti atmosferici (che in più di un'occasione si riveleranno molto utili).
La storia è ricca d'azione, di sentimento e non mancano alcune scene piccanti. Ho molto apprezzato l'ambientazione tra castelli e rovine scozzesi e la presenza degli altri arcangeli e dei personaggi secondari che gli ruotano attorno.
La lettura procede in maniera scorrevole, rallentata solamente nei vari capitoli incentrati sui cattivi della situazione (gli Adariani), un po' troppi per i miei gusti!!
Il finale invece mi ha proprio colpito... l'autrice ci lascia proprio sul più bello! Inutile dire che non vedo l'ora di leggere il terzo romanzo della serie, quello dedicato al mio personaggio preferito già dall'inizio: Azrael, l'Angelo della Morte. La sua storia promette molto, molto bene! Peccato che esca in USA a dicembre 2012 quindi probabilmente noi dovremo aspettare un po' per leggerla...(less)

Messenger’s Angel is Gabriel and Juliette’s story and the second book in Heather Killough-Walden’s Lost Angels Series. The first book, Avenger’s Angel, laid the groundwork for this series and it was good, but Messenger’s Angel has me totally hooked and there is no turning back. *sigh*

Gabriel is the loner among his brothers. He’s Scottish and prefers to spend his time there as much as he can. He loves his brothers, but there’s no place like home for him and Scotland is it. Juliette, unlike Ellie...more Messenger’s Angel is Gabriel and Juliette’s story and the second book in Heather Killough-Walden’s Lost Angels Series. The first book, Avenger’s Angel, laid the groundwork for this series and it was good, but Messenger’s Angel has me totally hooked and there is no turning back. *sigh*

Gabriel is the loner among his brothers. He’s Scottish and prefers to spend his time there as much as he can. He loves his brothers, but there’s no place like home for him and Scotland is it. Juliette, unlike Ellie in Avenger’s Angel, has no idea who she is. She isn’t even aware of she has any powers until she accidentally heals someone. There are other people who are well aware of who and what she is and they lay the ground work for her to make her way to Scotland. Kind of a convenient scenario, but it works.

Nothing about Gabriel and Juliette’s initial meeting goes well and from that point on the action pretty much doesn’t stop. Juliette doesn’t know who to trust or how to control her new found powers. Sam once again has his hand in the action and the Adarians are even crazier than they were before. The archangels definitely have their hands full.

Beyond all the action, there was so much to love about Messenger’s Angel. Both Gabriel and Juliette had roots in Scotland and a true love of not only the countryside but also the architecture of the ancient buildings and ruins. Heather Killough-Walden’s descriptions brought it to life in an amazing way. The love that grows between Gabriel and Juliette was inevitable, but it wasn’t forced. Gabriel’s ‘courting’ of Juliette was sweet. He knew he had screwed up and his patience with her was endearing.

I enjoyed getting to know the other brothers a little bit better this time, along with Max, Lilly and even Sam. As tricky as he is and as evil as I know he is supposed to be I just can’t quite hate him. There is definitely more to him than we know.

The next archangel to find his archess is Azrael. He was one of my favorites in Messenger’s Angel and I’m so glad that his book is next. He actually finds his archess at the very end of Messenger’s Angel so his story is definitely going to be interesting and intense. Especially with the new info the brothers discovered. January 2013 can’t come soon enough. I can’t wait to find out what Death’s Angel has in store for Azrael and the rest of the archangels.(less)

Still not totally in love with the angles. I guess its the fact that these Angles feel they are entitled to the women and basically the women have no say in the matter. The men act like neanderthals and then can't understand why (until they are knocked over the head) the woman "destined" to be theirs runs from them. Secondo volume della serie Lost angels. Attesissimo da molti ,soprattutto da me. Dopo il precedente romanzo La notte degli angeli caduti non ho potuto far a meno di gettarmi a capofitto in questa nuova e bellissima storia d’amore,perché è di questo che si tratta. La Walden è davvero una grande scrittrice. Se il primo libro mi è piaciuto,questo ha davvero superato ogni mia aspettativa. Coinvolgente e intrigante sin da subito. Non abbiamo difficoltà a ricordare la storia di partenza perché la scrittrice fa molti riferimenti al passato rispiegando la mitologia senza risultare noiosa ,ripetitiva o pesante. Ovviamente ritroviamo tutti gli arcangeli del romanzo precedente,ma stavolta la storia è incentrata su Gabriele. E’ questa una figura sola ,ma estremamente umana. Una creatura compassionevole e votata ad aiutare il prossimo,Gabriele vive in Scozia ,ma aiuta sempre i suoi compagni. Da secoli attende la sua cherubina e se la ritrova proprio dove meno se lo aspetta. Nello stesso albergo dove risiede per il maltempo. Il loro incontro è come un fulmine a ciel sereno. Bellissima la scena di lui che la inchioda al muro del bar e la bacia quasi subito. La Walden è in grado di trasportarci con la fantasia dove vuole lei. Ogni sensazione viene descritta in modo impareggiabile,le emozioni dei personaggi diventano quelle del lettore stesso che viene stregato dalla facilità con la quale la scrittrice riesce a mettere tutto su carta. Ottimi dialoghi,una storia d’amore intensa e passionale con un degno livello di sensualità che non sconfina mai nel volgare ma che spazia molto nel sentimento. I due protagonisti vengono caratterizzati con estrema perizia. Sono bellissimi,a loro modo carismatici e buoni fin nel profondo. E’ sempre presente Samael di cui ancora si ha difficoltà a capire da che parte sta. Ritroviamo a cherubina Eleonor,compagna di Uriel e si staglia già all’orizzonte (la conosciamo appena)la futura consorte di Azrael. Ancora un combattimento finale e una trasformazione che permette ai protagonisti di poter saldare il loro legame. Può sembrare che la Walden crei la storia d’amore con troppa rapidità,ma è quella sorta di “imprinting” che si genera nella coppia a fare tutto. I sentimenti sopraggiungono con la rapidità di un fulmine perché ogni cherubina è stata creata per un arcangelo e l’amore immediato è la cosa che li unisce più di ogni altra. Seppure la storia non sia originalissima ,l’ottima capacità descrittiva della scrittrice ripaga di gran lunga questa piccolissima pecca. Ogni personaggio ha il proprio posto e la mitologia come i retroscena sono sempre ben spiegati. Nulla è lasciato al caso o troppo contorto da capire. I piani dei cattivi come quelli dei buoni sono chiari e determinanti per l’andamento del libro. E’ forse il sentimento fra Gabriele e Juliette a fare da padrone con delle descrizioni così evocative da scaldare il cuore. Gabriele non è solo bello e forte,ma una creatura mistica,dolce,accattivante e piena di fascino . Juliette dal canto suo è la bontà fatta persona. Come tutte quelle della sua specie ha dei poteri,può curare,dominare le tempeste,spostare gli oggetti,ma può soprattutto amare Gabriele Black. Appassionante dalla prima all’ultima pagine,si legge con il piacere di chi ama i buoni libri e sa godersi una dolce storia d’amore. Consigliatissimo.

Juliette non riesce ancora a credere all'enorme fortuna che ha avuto quando Samuel Lambent, il magnate dei media, l'ha contattata per offrirle un contratto in cui le sue ricerche sul campo in Scozia sarebbe state utilizzate per un programma di sua creazione, addirittura finalizzando i suoi viaggi e il materiale necessario! Certo, avrebbe potuto scegliere milioni di ricercatori pi�� esperti invece di lei, e ci�� dovrebbe farla riflettere, ma tanto �� l'entusiasmo per questa possibilit�� che non ci fa caso, reputandolo un semplice dono della fortuna. D'altronde, come potrebbe conoscere la vera identit�� di Samuel e il reale motivo per cui l'ha cercata?
Accanto a questo viaggio, se ne affiancher�� un'altro, pi�� lento e all'inizio volutamente ignorato, che riguarda il riconoscimento di ci�� che �� in grado di fare. Scatenare fulmini, tempeste, muovere oggetti col pensiero... e guarire le persone. Il che fa di lei la seconda cherubina, dopo Eleanore, ora moglie di Uriel/Christopher Daniels, gi�� nominata nel primo libro. Ovviamente, lei non sa nulla, inconsapevole sia del significato di questi poteri, che del fatto di essere in grave pericolo. Oltre Samuel, infatti, anche gli Adariani la vogliono, capitanati da un Kevin smanioso di catturare tutte le cherubine -Eleanore in particolare- e ottenere il bramato potere di curare con un tocco.

Ma il cammino pi�� emozionante �� sicuramente quello del crescente rapporto tra Juliette e l'angelo a cui la vedremo affiancata. E stavolta, dopo Uriel, tocca al bellissimo Gabriele. Ho cominciato ad amare questa coppia ancor prima del loro incontro! Nello stesso luogo pi�� di una volta senza vedersi, pensando l'uno all'altra, Gabriele invidiando il fratello per aver trovato la sua cherubina, che l'ha reso diverso e felice in cos�� poco tempo da far quasi evaporare il pensiero di duemila anni d'attesa, Juliette tormentata dall'intrigante e meraviglioso uomo visto nei suoi sogni, occhi d'un profondo grigio da farla avvampare al solo pensiero.
Ma �� quando si incontrano che scoppiano le scintille. E nonostante l'enorme attrazione per un perfetto sconosciuto, il turbamento e la confusione di Juliette non mancano di farla rinsanire.
Juliette non si fidava di Gabriele Black. Niente in lui le ispirava fiducia: quel corpo alto e forte, i penetranti occhi argento, il viso incredibilmente bello e l'accento, che la faceva squagliare. Non si fidava del suo aggraziato modo di muoversi, n�� del suo profumo sensuale o della soggiogante perfezione del suo dannato bacio. Indubbiamente, non si fidava di quel bacio.
Gabriele per�� non riesce a starle lontano. L'emozione per aver finalmente trovato la sua cherubina... oh, come mi palpitava il cuore, leggendo dei suoi pensieri, come se un'agonia a lungo subita fosse finalmente cessata! E adesso che l'aveva trovata, due diverse fazioni di angeli volevano portargliela via. Agguerrito come non mai, potete gi�� intuire che non permetter�� mai che una cosa simile accada.. e ovviamente i suoi fratelli, insieme ad Eleanore, andranno pi�� volte in suo aiuto. Purtroppo, per��, conquistare il cuore e la fiducia di Juliette sar�� una battaglia che dovr�� affrontare da solo... e che battaglia!

Ma non �� tutto. Oltre all'aspetto romantico, mitologico e d'azione, cominciamo a comprendere sempre pi�� ci�� che comporta essere una cherubina. Non �� solo una questione di riconoscere l'arcangelo a cui ognuna di loro �� legata, e viceversa. E' un'unione pi�� profonda, che rispecchia l'essenza del loro compagno. Non voglio svelarvi troppo, poich�� per me stessa �� stata una piacevole sorpresa scoprire che c'era dell'altro, lasciandomi carpire sfumature sempre pi�� vaste di questa intrigante storia.
Lo stesso rapporto varia da una coppia all'altra, e anche se mi verrebbe da dire che ho apprezzato maggiormente quella composta da Uriel e Eleanor, non esiste una configurazione standar delle relazioni fra arcangeli e cherubine da cui poter partire per analizzare ogni coppia. Perci�� ho trovato in entrambe un'intesa e un modo di fare che non posso paragonare, ma che ho apprezzato e di cui mi sono letteralmente infatuata!

E aspettate di sentirvi scorrere sulla pelle l'adrenalina che precede ogni scontro.. e lo scoppio dell'azione nelle vene, la sensazione di avere a portata di mano l'esito della battaglia, eppure indugiare ancora fino all'ultimo col dubbio che quest'intrigante quanto possente gruppo di angeli possa perdere il suo vantaggio. Per non parlare del modo in cui il libro finisce... sempre cos�� irrimediabilmente in sospeso... quanto mi faranno attendere stavolta??

Mi sento quasi in colpa ad averlo divorato tanto in fretta, avrei voluto che durasse in eterno. Non riesco a capacitarmi del fatto che sia finito cos��! E'... terribilmente frustrante, come quando un forte vento vi investe, costringendovi a chiudere gli occhi e cercare subito un appiglio per non cadere e poi di colpo... si fermasse, lasciandovi storditi. Ecco, sono stordita, completamente. Ma sono sicura che un'intensit�� simile, se non maggiore, mi terr�� incollata al sequel, nel momento in cui uscir��. Spero che la leggereditore non ci faccia aspettare troppo! Prevedo problemi e guai e tante domande a cui devo assolutamente trovare una risposta. What I appreciate most about the Lost Angel Series are the lack of too many sex scenes. I think with the one it creates a stronger enticement and thrill to it. I also very much enjoyed Juliette's personality. Not that I had a problem with Eleanor's in the first, I just feel Juliette's jelled better. Or maybe her independence made more sense to me. I think that it took a little more effort to get into due to the dialogue constantly reverting to the Scottish accent. I still am not sure how to pro...more

Messenger's Angel is the second in the Lost Angels series. I absolutely loved Avenger's Angel, the first book in the series, I didn't think Ms Killough-Walden could do any better than that. This second book in this series is as compelling and captivating as the first. This book centers on Gabriel the messenger archangel. His journey to make his destined Archess, Juliette, his.

There is plenty of romance, tense and frustrating situations. There are so many bad guys out there trying to keep Gabriel and Jules apart. I was exhausted worrying about them.

I don't know what to say about this book. I liked it more than the previous book, Avanger's Angel, and I enjoyed that one.
Gabriel didn't seem as cave man like as Uriel, but he was still a powerful being who was capable of tenderness and care. Jules was an interesting heroine. I liked that her life was different from Ellie's. I was concerned that this series could end up being repetitive, but that didn't happen.

This series seems to be getting better as each book comes out. This maybe because the story is set and the pattern is pretty similar but it is far from boring. There are many twists and turns in this book that keep the reader interest and hoping that the archangel and archess find each other and are prepared to sacrifice themselves for their soulmates.

The four favourite angels are as sexy as ever and I hate to admit it, but I felt a loss with the lack of Sam in this book.

Juliette has always wanted to go to Scotland and immediately feels like she’s home as soon as she get there. Walking into a pub one night she is startled to find the most beautiful man she has ever seen and the attraction between them is something she’s never felt before. As soon as She meets Gabriel her whole world flips upside down and she soon discovers things about herself she never could have imagined.

Gabriel has spent the last ten centuries searching for his lost archess and he never expected to meet her in his favorite pub in Scotland. As one of the four favorite Archangels, Gabriel and his brothers were each given a perfect mate, an archess, who were lost hundreds of years ago and lead to the four archangels coming to Earth to search for them. Gabriel is not the only one who wants Juliette and he must convince her to trust him or he could once again lose her forever.

Messenger’s Angel is the second book in Killough-Walden’s Lost Angel series and I have been dying to read it ever since I finished Avenger’s Angel. I love the idea that there are four lost archesses out in the world and that the archangels left Heaven to search for them. I am not a big fan of the Adarians, the warrior angels who want to keep the archesses for themselves. I feel that there is way too much time spent on them and they don’t do anything but annoy me. I feel they are a lot like the lessers in J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brother series and I have to fight to not just skip over there scenes.

I did really like both Gabriel and Juliette both separate and as a couple. I loved how they first meet and it was my favorite part of the entire book. We get to see it from both of their point of views and it is a very intense moment. There are a few times when I thought they both got a little annoying and I wanted to shake Juliette but other then that I really enjoyed their story.

The main reason I gave this book a C+ is because there is just way too many points of view going on. There are too many characters and too much stuff going on for me. We get Gabriel, Juliette, a couple different Adarians, Samuel and it just keeps going. There were a few times when I felt like I read twenty or thirty pages and not a single one of them were Gabriel or Juliette who I actually really want to read about. I hope in future books this stops because it really ruined the book for me.

Besides the many points of view I really do like this book and the series. We get a little teaser for the third book and I think it’s going to be amazing. I definitely recommend reading the books in order or you can get lost pretty quickly. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the world of archangels and their archesses but I bet it’s going to be good. (less)

Finished reading Messenger’s Angel today. Heather did an amazing job on some of the highlights of Scotland. The description of the land and the castles and other historic places were so well written I was able to picture it myself.

Gabriel’s search has finally ended. His Archess, Juliette is his perfect match. She’s good, kind, stubborn and strong. She not only is willing to stand up and fight for herself, but she’ll do anything to save the people she cares about.

It's instant sexual attraction when Juliette and Gabriel meet, but Gabriel isn't exactly subtle in his approach, and Juliette would rather run than wait for explanations. After all, her life is weird enough at the moment without having an angel lust after her. Even though I knew Juliette and Gabriel were perfect for one another, I continuously doubted whether fate would allow their relationship to blossom in this century. Everyone wants Juliette. Can she realize her potential before it's too late? I love it when I doubt and worry about a couple, especially when it's as action-packed as this book.

In the beginning, I wasn't sure that I would be able to read MESSENGER'S ANGEL, book two, without reading AVENGER'S ANGEL, book one. This novel didn't grab me until page seventy-five, which happened to be chapter ten, and I was enthralled from that moment until the end. Once I finished, I did go back and re-read the first seventy-four pages and understood them completely, but by that time, I had adapted to the world and the characters. That leaves me to believe that for me, starting a paranormal series in the unintended order often has its consequences. If you read book one, you will probably sail right through without a hitch.

MESSENGER'S ANGEL has plenty of action, vivid descriptions of Scotland, magic and sensuality scattered throughout, which is expected when you're dealing with immortals who have been looking for two thousand years for the "one" who completes them. I really couldn't read fast enough and I thought about the book when I wasn't reading it, which made me feel a bit obsessive about it.

I can't say that I've ever thought of angels as being sensually attractive before, but Heather Killough-Walden has created a world of good and evil where those who love the bad boys will get as much enjoyment as those who love the good guys. I don't want to say too much so I don't spoil the fun, but I think there's enough variety to go around so that every reader will find someone to dream about. And for those dark paranormal lovers, there are beings to satisfy your craving too. Whew ‒ hot!

MESSENGER'S ANGEL is filled with some very creative world-building that captivates at a faster pace as you delve deeper into the book. Four archangels are trying to find their mates who are four female angels, the archesses, who were made specifically for the "favored" archangels. The archesses' special supernatural abilities aren't known to themselves or their archangels, so the reader is teased with the suspense as it unfolds. Then there are the Adarians, another group of archangels, who want the archesses as much as their intended archangels do, but for different reasons, which pitches the suspense upward once again. Of course, the archangels and the archesses try to live normal lives on earth, so it's fun to discover their human-like identities which add to their allure. And then there's Samael, the "Fallen One," one of the original Adarian archangels, who seems to be someone we're going to have to stew about for several books to come. Dangerous and enigmatic, he's hard to ignore. Nice touch, Ms. Killough-Walden – I'm definitely intrigued and anxious for DEATH'S ANGEL, book three.

If you love Scottish history and life's mysteries mixed with a variety of paranormal and fantasy elements, then I recommend MESSENGER'S ANGEL as a unique twist of rapid-fire entertainment in novel form. MESSENGER'S ANGEL has an inkling of a super-hero feel to it, as well as a gothic eeriness to rev up your anxiety, while you waver on tenterhooks for the villains' demise. And for those who love wicked villains? I don't think they're done with any of us yet!
