Very informative -- I had never heard of methylcellulose, for example -- and hopefully authors will take heed of Mark's call to end all the 'spine tingling' that seems to go on in m-m romances.

Great little book, great advice for all genders when it comes to getting a man all nice and hot. Moreover, it's funny as hell to boot. Alders isn't a sex therapist, but his down-to-the-bone advice is a great reference point for readers and authors. I seriously hope authors take Mr. Alders' words to heart, especially when it comes to LUBE! I cannot stress this enough and the lack of LUBE in a M/M novel is grounds for an automatic FAIL. I instantly detract one star from the rating, no matter how g...more

I liked this book a lot, very inspiring in places, but... for someone who's not an "expert" other than being a guy and clearly having an interest (and experience) in the subject, Mark wrote this with a very absolute tone. He states at the end that that his experiences don't cover the gamut of possible experiences, but when reading the book itself, I would occassionally find myself thinking "That can't happen? But I know a guy that told me it could," or "I've been with a guy where this happened."...more

Mark Alders is not by any means shy. He brings to the table a non-fiction piece about...well...anal sex. An Insight into Men and Anal Sex is-- just that. An insight. A brief look into. This is not a "guide" so to speak. It's not written by a professor either. This brief insight, which is 20+ or so pages long is written by a gay man who has anal sex. And he is sharing his experiences with his reading audience for free. But what I'm going to share with you here is going to come as a big surprise f...more

Not sure I would call it a "guide" as much as I would a personal outlook on personal experience.
That said it certainly was an interesting read. One that could certainly encourage men, gay or not, young or older, to be free to experiment with their own bodies, without shame, just as anyone should be able to do.
I liked a couple of Mark's suggestions on both masturbation and blow jobs and feel that his insight into a male perspective of these exciting & incredible feelings & experiences cou...more

Nothing earth-shattering or new, but I believe all female M/M writers should read as much male viewpoint non-fiction as possible to keep their characters real. This one is fairly basic and simple, with a bit of humor and casualness that may appeal as less intimidating to those that are newer to the genre.

Note: It's not just about anal sex, though the insights were strictly sexual in nature. The other topics included kissing, masturbation, cock-docking, rimming, sucking cock, and spanking.

So I was curious, turns out the real deal differs somewhat from fictional m/m sex, a lot more care and lube is necessary. Although apparently a prostate induced orgasm is 400x more powerful than the regular kind! I think I'm suffering from penis envy.. lol

Um yea...i do believe i am now a pro at understanding men and sex. The kissing chapter was my favorite...makes sense since i love kissing. That chapter alone should be required reading for all men...would have saved me a cut lip now and again...lol

LOVED this book. I learned a lot of great information. I think this would be great as an educational video series. I'd certainly watch every section.

It was a reader friendly wikipedia on man psychology, thought if it was longer I could have given this a 5.

I live in Melbourne, Victoria, in the land of Oz. According to my own Teenage mis-adventures, I am just an ordinary guy with a penis which likes to get me into trouble…a lot. I’ve seduced trees, copulated with watermelons, and had nice old ladies pick ants off my naked body. Yep, that’s me. Mark Alders. All round nice guy and with my brain firmly in my pants, exactly where it belongs!

So what about...more
