I’m quite a big fan of Linda Green, I read 10 Reasons Not To Fall In Love a couple of years back and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was such a wonderful read that, despite its title, it really made you believe in love again. I then read the book she released last year called Things I Wish I’d Known. It didn’t blow me away as much as 10 Reasons Not To Fall In Love, but I did still enioy it. So I was inordinately pleased to know Linda would be back in 2011 with a new book and I liked how mysterious t ...more

A gripping, moving and (at least in places) funny read. I have mixed feelings on some of the twists, and on the ending ... I won't say more for fear of spoilers. The writing style is engaging, easy to get on with, though a tiny bit long-winded in places. Definitely worth a read, but keep the tissues handy!

'And then it happened' is the first book I have read by Linda Green. I expected it to be a more central romance but it is a little darker, though well written with a very readable flowing style. A considerable achievement. The book starts with witty dialogue and good character build but the middle seemed to drag for me, though the coma voice was very effective at first. The plot chimes with 'Regarding Henry' and I wanted Adam the second character to have a bit more development at the end, but I ...more

Another gripping book by Linda Green.

Mel and Adam have been together for 20 years and about to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. Mel states she doesnt want a big fuss for fear of tempting fate at their many years of happiness, Adam has of course planned a big surprise party.

Then the accident happens (which would have been funny if it wasnt for the outcome).

The main bulk of the book is the outcome of the accident, and is written in a way that keeps you very interested right until the end

Thoroughly enjoyed this book and will definitely be reading more books by this author. In both books I've read by her, she is brilliant at writing young children's dialogue - it really adds another dimension to her books. This book had me laughing and crying - a real roller coaster of a read.

Mel and Adam Taylor are childhood sweethearts, they have been together
20 years (married for 10), and they have a dream home, great jobs,
perfect marriage, good friends and a Daughter Maya (4), who loves
Dinosaurs.
The one day Mel gets a phone call her world is turned upside down but
why?
I have read book by this Author in the past and have never really
enjoyed them, however I found this book really good, each chapter is
narrated by either Mel or Adam, it’s also split into parts, it is funny
in pa

This book was amazing! The first 40-60 pages didn't make so much an impression on me. I dunno I thought the couple is those complicated, have an issue with almost everything couple. But it proved me wrong. This couple was so simple! Their conversations and their thoughts both simple. You can tell they've been with each other for 20 yrs and are still on love without being overdone. I'm not a crier but there were parts where I got pretty close. But i understand that the avg reader would definitely ...more

Really enjoyed this book.....an easy read with a few twists but a great sit down with a cuppa and emerge yourself in someone else's life!

Nicely drawn characters, but honestly a bit depressing for my liking.

I loved this. It was fun, interesting, poignant, emotional and just brilliant. I read it in two afternoons sat in the garden as I couldn't put it down. Its about a young couple who were childhood sweethearts and still very much in love, with a young daughter. Mel always has the feeling that something is going to spoil their happiness, hence the title of the book. I won't give any more away, but something happens that completely changes their lives, and subsequently the lives of their best friend ...more

Chick lit again but of a darker nature. Can't say much for fear of spoilering it (if that's a word!). I really wanted to finish it to find out what would happen, but it wasn't gripping in the sense of suspense or fabulous writing that keeps you wanting more. In the slightest. Moving on to something with more substance next, by Kim Edwards (of The Memory Keeper's Daughter fame) - The Lake of Dreams.

This book started off slowly with the love story of Adam and Mel - a bit of a sickly sweet tale of perfect love. But then Adam has a life changing accident and their lives are turned upside down. An unusual subject choice for a chick lit novel but it kept me turning the pages - even if I didn't get the proper happy ending I enjoy. A bit darker than my usual choice but I did enjoy it.

This is the first of Linda's books I have read and after hearing lots of good things I decided to give it a go. It's definitely a bittersweet book, it made me smile and cry at times. I really felt for Adam and Mel and I was really rooting for them. This book made me think and it is not your usual chick-lit, which is no bad thing. I would definitely recommend this.

I have tried to read this book twice and I really cant get into it... which is a shame because I really loved "Things I wish I'd known...".

I have gotten halfway through and it seemed to drag on and on forever so I gave up both times.

Maybe I'll give it a third shot (3 times lucky right??)

This was a good story, though I was not sure that I was going to like Mel At first. She did grow on me. I did think that Meyer seemed a little older Than her age,. A good story still.

Totally different to the kind of book I was expecting. The cover made it sound like abit of a fluffy rom com story but turned out to be a really serious and moving story.Couldn't put it down despite it being not the kind of book I would usually read.

Found it an interesting read and could understand Mel and waiting for something bad to happen. I found the Adam chapters interesting but they wore me down. Mel had an abortion and had kept it a secret all those years which I felt for her about.

Mel and Adam is perfecr together..to be honest it kind of bored me from the begining.I thought it was just about Adam being in accident and stuff but it turns out..surprising. I honestly didn't expect it end like that. I cried. It's a good book.

I loved this book , it is kind of sad because it involves someone who ends up in vegetative state , but it avoids being maudlin and in fact it is pretty funny even in the dark moments...well worth a read

The book started from a very happy perspective to a quite depressing ending. Although miracles do happen, it can cause one to begin imagining on their own because of yearning and hope.

Loved it, both funny and sad, one minute it had me giggling the next crying. Keeps you guessing and hoping till the end.. so I won't spoil that for any future readers

I was born in North London in 1970 and brought up in Hertfordshire. I wrote my first novella, the Time Machine, aged eight, shortly after which I declared that my ambition was to have a novel published (I could have been easy on myself and just said ‘to write a novel’ but no, I had to consign myself to years of torture and rejections). I was frequently asked to copy out my stories for the classroo ...more
