Come Along, Daisy was an adorable story for younger kids that teaches a lesson about staying close to a parent or whoever they are out with. Daisy, the little duckling, gets lost when she finds herself distracted with frogs and dragonflies. She ends up all alone with some pretty scary creatures and like any young kid she gets terrified! Her mother finally finds her and they go on their way with Daisy following close behind her mother.
This book portrays a pretty obvious lesson and a simple one a...more

This picture book is about a duckling named Daisy who likes to look at all of the fun things around her on her walk with Mama Duck. When her mom calls her, she doesn't listen and continues to play around with the plants and animals. When Daisy looked up, though, she saw that Mama Duck was nowhere to be seen. She grew very scared and didn't know what to do. But soon, she was reunited with Mama Duck and she made sure not to go astray anymore. The thing I enjoyed most about this book was the pictur...more

I liked the main character in the book, Daisy. She's a little duck who likes to explore around. Daisy is a curious and playful little duck. Her mother told her to stay close to her but she gets distracted with dragonflies and fishes. She gets lost and can't find her mother but finally her mother finds her. In the end, even though she gets distracted and plays with butterflies she stays very close to her mother. I think this book is more for the younger kids because the letters are very big so it...more

This book taught a really good lesson to kids. They need to listen to their parents and stay close because there are a lot of dangerous things out there in the world. The drawings in the book are beautiful, every part of the page is covered with color. This would be a fun book to read to the class because there are a lot of fun words such as "Bong, plop" and "splash". Also, it would be fun to read the part where it reads "closer and closer and closer..." I can just see the kids getting closer an...more

I used the Spanish version of this story, ¡Ven Aqui, Daisy!, for a ducks and rain story time program for both Spanish and bilingual story times. It's a cute story about a duck named Daisy whose mom warns her to stay close because there can be danger. Daisy gets distracted and is panicked to find her mother. She eventually finds her and from then on stays close to mama. It's a cute story with a good lesson.

This is a very cute story about listening to your parents. Daisy's mother is always telling Daisy to stay close. However, Daisy would rather be jumping on lilly pads and chasing insects. One day she hears a scary noise and learns that her mother was right. The pictures are colorful and bright to go along with the story. I would definitely read this book to young children.

A lovely book about an adventurous little duck that strays from its mother to find that the world is a scary place. After a few scares the little duck is reunited with its mother and learned a good lesson. This would be good for children to know it is important to stay close and listen to their guardian to ensure safety. Lovely pictures. Semester II

Perfect read-aloud for preschoolers. Daisy is as cute as a button and young children just love her and her independence. When Daisy is lost in the big, big pond and something moves beneath her and swoops above her, youngsters are riveted to the pages, hoping that Daisy will be alright. Which, of course (*spoiler alert) she is.

Come along daisy is great! Kids will love the subtle message of not straying away, but they'll also love seeing what Daisy discovers while she strays. The illustrations may inspire your little readers to get out the watercolors and paint!

Come Along, Daisy is a really cute book. I would read this book on the first week of school. It talks about cautious duckling who does not follow along with mama duck. Baby duck soon get lost, until mama duck finds him. This book will help emphasize the importance of following the rules and staying with the class.

Daisy is a young duckling, and has a hard time following her mother. One day this gets her in all kinds of trouble. She loses her mother and there is rumbling in the bushes. Thank goodness it's her mother! This book would be good to use for paying attention to things.
Gala
Some say that this book is good for parents with toddlers to teach them to stay close to their mother. That is true but as a teacher children also need to pay attention on field trips and playgrounds. This book was in the first grade class.
Paula
Short text, but the excitement of daisy loosing her mama duck. Bright illustrations.
Daisy the duckling becomes so engrossed in watching fish, playing with dragonflies and bouncing on lily pads that she temporarily loses her mother
Rachel
This picture book uses few words, but it's message is very clear. It follows Daisy, a curious duckling, on her journey with her mother. It teaches the importance of staying close to parents and following directions.

The best used book I've bought! My daughter simply adores Daisy and seems genuinely concerned when Daisy gets separated from Mama Duck. We've read it so many times, my daughter can now "read" it back to me.
Amber
this book really helped with teaching my kids to stay by us when. out and about. they recognized the fear that daisy felt when she couldn't find her mama. worth getting for any parent of a toddler.
Carrie
I told this story with props for my interviews at both the Provo City Library and the Durham County Library...so it holds a dear place in my heart. Cute book about staying close to mama.
Laurel Wicke
All three of my children LOVED this book. It's imperative that you actually splash, shiver, screech, and do a very creepy version of "...it came closer, and closer, and closer..."
Molly
Daisy has a tendency to wander. One time she wanders too far and looses mama. She is frightened of the other pond creatures, and once reunited with mama decides to always stay in sight.
Deanna
I believe this is quality children's literature because it is predictable, repetitive, and considerably relate-able for children. This is a good book for choral or shared reading.
Betsy
A fun book that uses onomatopoeias to show what the different animals are doing. Grades PreK through 1st. Would be a fun book for story time.
Kylie
Hallie absolutely LOVES this book and would giggle no matter how many times we read it. Paige loves it too. It's a very simple but darling story.
Georgia
Come Along Daisy is so adorable! I remember my Mom reading it to me when I was a toddler. :) I love you Come Along Daisy!
Courtney
Absolutely adorable. For the 3-5 year old set and a great story about the importance of staying near a parent.

Come Along, Daisy is a book that tells a story of a duckling, Daisy, that does not listen to her mother. Daisy ignores her mother and ends up becoming very scared of what is in the water only to find that the scary thing was her mother. This picture book supplies readers with colorful pictures, simple text, and adds detail with the sound effects. Children learn a lesson that is well hidden in the book; the baby duck learns to listen to her mother just like all children should.

Emily loved the Daisy books when she was 3-5 years old. I love all the illustrations and cute stories.
Sabrina
I liked the message. It helped me teach Emilia that wandering away in a store can be a bad thing.
