Anna Scott Graham makes you really live with her characters, and care about them straightaway. They're messy, they're real, they're maddening, and they're wonderful; she has a real gift for capturing the intricacies of human relationships. The backdrop of baseball and the world series was particularly interesting for me, but if you're not a sports fan, don't let that put you off--this is a book about people with baseball as a backdrop, and not the other way around.
