I'm biased. I knew Nona growing up; our mothers are great friends. She really captures life in our small, Stearns County town. If you also grew up in a small town, or felt like a weirdo, or just really wanted to escape, you will understand and enjoy this collection.

I really liked this book. It deals with a lot of issues and it addresses them in interesting ways. It's a really fast read and all of the stories tie into each other, but because they are all so different it keeps you enraptured throughout the whole book. Thumbs-up!

Excellent first collection. She has me gasping for air with some of these stories, that's for sure.

Typical "literary" short fiction: allegedly evocative, actually boring.
