Part cautionary tale, part farce, Emperors' Clothes tells the story of two executives and one mob boss who put a Sopranos' style spin on corporate strategy.

Stewart Narciss, whose accomplished father prefers the company of his hairless cats to that of his only son, equates executive status with self-worth. To impress the movers and shakers, Stewart hooks his career to the

If you have a boss that you sometimes wish would just go away, then you need to hire an executive recruiter like Sal Scruci. Failing that, you need to read Catherine McGuinness’ first novel, Emperors’ Clothes.

Even though Carol Himmler, the beautiful executive, is despicable, I found myself rooting for her to win again and again. Yes, Sal Scruci’s methods are unorthodox, but you have to admit he gets the job done, one way or another. In this cunning satire the good guys don’t finish first, somet

Carol is a woman on a mission. She get to the top no matter who she has to climb over.

Sal is a mobster who is just looking for more money.

These two come together in a book about HR and corporate greed.

As someone who works in a corporate setting I could definitely see the parallels to my everyday world in this book. Unfortunately, I was not overly impressed with the writing style. I had to force myself to finish this book. Where it would usually take me a day, or so, to finish a novel, this on

Emperors' Clothes was free when I downloaded it to my Nook.

This book was written by a former Human Resources person. I recognized some of the neurotic and sociopathic traits she writes about from my own observations of upper management during their corporate regime changes. I think the characters hit too close to home for me to enjoy this book, even as a satire or black comedy.

I'm so digging this book. Can you say "flashback"?! Carol is one raging capitalist with a cutthroat attitude.

An exciting satire about a ruthless Executive that uses her control of HR to both advance her career, and eliminate the competition.
