Ellen is a great writer. I love that this memoir started when she was a young girl in the Missouri Ozarks as a county home agent--she had to give canning demonstrations to women who already knew this! The book is full of touching moments and hilarious essays. Ellen is a strong writer and a strong woman!
Excellent memior of a time gone by...set in Ozarks near Lebanon and surrounding area an hour from Springfield. Massey was editor of Bittersweet project in the schools which became best selling books of Ozark life over such things as canning, woodworking, boat building, hunting, caning chairs, etc.
