Oh wow, I loved this book! I think that the first was better than the second, but they came really close within each other. It made me cry so much! Lurlene McDaniel, in these two novels, tells of how the unexpected and unfair things that happen to us, and that also you can love two people at the same time. I recommend it to anyone who loves Lurlene McDaniel's works, or even new fans. It made a great read.

This book is hust sad. Sad, sad, sad. Not sad as in this was such a complete failure. But the sad that you wanna cry or something.

The love in the two books is so lovey-dovey and corney but you gotta love it. You just find it so compelling for some reason. But since it is mixed with sadness, you wanna cry. Most of the major events in the boook made me want to bawl my eyes out. Like, for real. It was so saddddd. DX
Seriously.

One thing I wanna point out without really mentioning anything from the boo...more

These two novels were very well done but not as inspirational as her others one are. These two really are on dying and are a little tough to get through, especially the second one.

The first book Till Death do us part, I found I could not relate to the relationship of the two main characters. Both had death deal medical issues but I could never feel the special connection between them. It almost seemed more like a relationship of convenience. It was meant to be true love and dealing with tough il...more

Wow, tearjerkers. I liked the second book better, BUT I don't think it would have been as impactful without reading the first. So.

There was a lot of telling at times (as opposed to showing) but the emotions in these stories are so raw and basic that they are almost impossible not to sympathize with. Love comes rather quickly to both of the male love interests, but it IS a teen romance novel, so that's to be expected.

I really appreciated the depth and believability of McDaniel's portrayal of the...more

Two young adult novellas packed into one volume, starring central character, a high school senior with a brain tumor.
In first book she falls in love with cystic fibrosis patient, 21, with a great outlook on life, mainly after he keeps hitting on her without giving up. They decide to marry but he dies after before the nuptials.
Frankly, never real felt the attraction.
In second book, girl is on island recovering from her loss and meets nice island boy, who, hey, won't take no for an answer. She has...more

I fell in love with this story. First of all--the author's history behind her works is a tear-jerker itself. She conveys how lives are changed by things we can't control. From sickness, to disease, that affect our lives in a way you don't expect unless you have experienced it. It speaks of a girl named April (prettiest name ever by the way lol) and she enters the hospital due to some problems with her head and some frequent painful headaches. She finds out she has a malignant tumor. Here, she mee...more

AWWWW!!!!!!

That's exactly what i said, really really loudly, when Mark proposed!! It was so sweet!

I thought that this book was a little bit too fast paced. It seemed like the author was rushing things a bit too much. One minute a car accident, BOOM, the next minute shes in a wedding dress and he's dead.

one more complaint is that all of the character traits that mark had seemed to transfer over to brandon, like "his charming, infectious personality that made her smile even though she didnt want...more

The book starts off with April thought that she and Mark would be together forever. But since Mark’s death, April has never felt more alone. Then Brandon Benedict comes into her life. Brandon is lonely and angry—he and April have a lot in common. But April cannot tell Brandon about her illness. When April’s medical problems suddenly return, she must decide what to tell Brandon. I recommend this book to people who have relationships because the author reveals many lessons and morals of how love s...more

I gravitate towards books about chronic illness...because I have one myself. I tend to really relate to characters struggling with any kind of illness, and April's brain tumor and Mark's cystic fibrosis are what drew me towards these two books.

Book one: Till Death Do Us Part was my favorite of the two. I loved how Mark chases April so determinedly until she falls for him. I loved Mark's optimism and his outlook on life. He had every reason to be depressed, having cystic fibrosis and knowing that...more

Knowing this book was for teenagers I expected it to be a little predictable and bubble-gummy. Boy was I right. I could pretty much tell you how the book was going to end and what was going to happen next after reading the first couple of pages. Didn't stop me from continuing though. Even though it was for the younger generation it was still a good read for me. It reminded me of the ones like it that I used to read when I was 15. It showed me how much I had moved on to more adult novels and stuf...more

It was the first book I ever read. At least one that I wanted to read without it being forced on me by evil school teachers. :)
I've read it twice the first time I was in grade 8 and the second it was probably grade 10. I loved the character Mark the first time I read it. I rooted for him then the second time I guess because I was older I much preferred Brandon. I continued to read Lurlene McDaniel books and they never disappointed me.

I didn't really care for this book. I always think of this author as cheesy, and this book is no different. I had read this book very quickly, mostly I skimmed through the entire thing while waiting for my sister at the library. It is similar to a lot of her other books, about a couple who fall in love, but one of them is sick, and the other goes against his/her parents wished to do something (in this case marry) for their beloved.

I loved the book and this author is general. This book among others in the collection never failed to make me cry and shake my fists at fate. Nonetheless it does highlight that not all sad stories need to have a happiness-for-everyone ending to be considered a good book. The book and series was bittersweet and it opened me up to reading other genres as I grew older.

I have read these books again and again, and they make me cry every time. Lurlene Mcdaniel has a way of writing that even when it is completely obvious what is going to happen, when it eventually does happen it is heart-wrenching and leaves me sitting there crying like an idiot. If you are a fan of Mcdaniel, these two books are must reads.

as long as we boht shall love was an incredible book. the first novel in this book was really sad. When April met Mark at the hospital and instantly fell in love he made her a stronger person when she felt like her world had come to an end with her tumor back. Although he had cistic fibrosis she saw past that and relized how amamzing he was. The two had a strong connection and they never let their troubles get in the way. The second novel was heart wretching! Aprils trying to move on and forget...more

Why do I read books that I know will not have a happy ending...at least in the traditional sense. I ended up sobbing at the end of this book. It was a great story along the way, and I think that it is perfect for teen girls looking for a good love story.
Ally
One of my favorite Lurlene McDaniel books! Both of the novels made me cry at different times. I was able to connect with the characters and felt as if I experienced what they experienced. Really good read, but prepare to shed some tears!
Angela
i loved this book so much im a huge fan of Lurlene McDaniel's work i loves the characters, one thing i dont like about lurlene's book is she always has a character get sick or die but the romance during all the drama is always so good

Wow! Writing this review sure brings back memories. I haven't read this book since I was eight, maybe nine years old. I guess I should re-read it before I continue this review...
Donna
This book is pretty much a cheesy romance novel. But I love cheesy romance novels. It is about a girl who falls in love with someone who has an illness.

Oh my goodness! Very good book, and yes I did cry. I couldn't stop reading this book. It just drew me in, and I felt like I really knew the characters. Honestly, I don't think I could read a book over again, but I probably could read this again! I definitely would recommend this book!
Julia
Such a heart felt stories. When your reading it's almost like you can anticipate what's going to happen next.... Each page is fulled with something new & you can't wait to read what's next!!! Very bittersweet!!!! Lurlene McDaniel is just the best writer ever!!!
