His internal radar pulls him toward Olivia Forster, a very human female, who also happens to be married to the long time love of her life, James... Circumstances end up with Anso deciding to bring both Olivia & James back home to Oceana, and also very nearly into the arms of certain death. Olivia cannot resist the magnetic pull that Anso wields over her body... And neither can James, nor Ty... Olivia & James must discover if they are capable of becoming part of Ty & Anso's world or if they feel like they belong solely in the human world. If you are a fan of paranormal erotic romances, then do not pass this book up, because you will fall head over heels in love with the amazingly sensuous and intensely graphic worlds that Emma Holly creates.. This is one of the best erotic romances I have ever read and I gladly recommend it to anyone who desires a little excitement in their life... Love, love, love Emma Holly!!!

I'm not usually into the fantasy stuff, but Emma Holly can take me anywhere! I was entranced by Anso, Ty, James, and Olivia. It was interesting to see the various dynamics, especially with James and Olivia being an "old married" couple.

The world of Oceana is fantastic, and yet it mirrors enough of "our world" that it's not completely foreign. The concept of free sexuality and royal princes/kings only being able to have sex with women who are their mates... it seems...more Love, love, love Emma Holly!!!

I'm not usually into the fantasy stuff, but Emma Holly can take me anywhere! I was entranced by Anso, Ty, James, and Olivia. It was interesting to see the various dynamics, especially with James and Olivia being an "old married" couple.

The world of Oceana is fantastic, and yet it mirrors enough of "our world" that it's not completely foreign. The concept of free sexuality and royal princes/kings only being able to have sex with women who are their mates... it seems weird and impossible to weave a plausible story with characters who are out for anything but sex. But Emma Holly does it!

And the sex is HOT! In fact, it almost alarmed me how much hotter the sex seemed between James and Ty or Ty and Anso than the sex that any of them had with Olivia. And yet... not. Hard to explain. I wondered if Olivia would become jealous of James' budding relationship with Ty (or Anso of James and Ty), but somehow that worked itself out. And while I can see that these four can make it work, I still think that there would be some jealousy involved... some undercurrent of "favorites". Then again, Ms. Holly did a good job of providing Ty and James with alternatives to their first loves; it made it easier to accept Anso and Olivia as a couple... and easier, IMO, for them to become a couple. Having all 4 mated to one another is a bit over-the-top, but it works within the constructs that Ms. Holly set up. Each person in this four-person relationship truly cares about all 3 of the others; it's not just a lust-sex thing, although that's how it all starts. Ms. Holly does show the relationships unfold... mostly it's Olivia who's the glue. Her acceptance of the various pairings makes it easier for the men to freely explore and freely love.

Yes, it's fantastic, especially when you throw in the Fae involvement and the sub-plots with dragons and a cousenemy. And the ending, (view spoiler), but in this were-seal, fantastic, magical world of Oceana, anything's possible. And it even seems plausible.

One of my favorite Emma Holly stories.(less)

I believe it refers to where the action takes place and what is hidden in the hearts of the initial two main protagonists, Olivia and James. Later on, it delves into the hidden yearnings of the two other heroes. No one is quite what they at first appear – if that makes any sense. Every person is multi-layered and this book takes the time to find and explore those layers in each of its characters.

I valued the detailed approach the author took in giving me insights into what made the relationship between Olivia and James work so well. The set up gave me a solid foundation in understanding just how strong and pure their love for each other was before Ms Holly set the first lure. You see, most people have sexual fantasies, whether they admit to them or not. The most amazing kind of relationships are those where the couple can talk to and share with their partner about even the kinky kinds that makes them blush and stutter. Not only that, but actually explore them within the framework of their marriage – making it more vibrant and healthy. But some fantasies, those in the deepest, darkest part of us, are still considered too potent for exploring because of the possibility that they might take on a life of their own. What would happen if the opportunity to experience such a thing presented itself? What would happen if it turned out that what was feared as being ‘too much’ ends up being not only a sexual high for one but for both? How far would they explore it? Where then would the boundaries be? The author leaves no skin untouched, no emotion unfelt and no heart unaffected in the telling of Hidden Depths as those questions get answered and more.

The dynamics between Anso and Ty, the other protagonists in the story, is another intricately woven relationship. Anso is royalty and Ty is …not. I intuited early on that Ty and Anso actually loved each other but they were blinded by expectations, perceptions and position. It was very sad. I felt the most emotion for Ty because he was so hard on himself. It didn’t help matters any that there was a secondary character that dismissed him and reinforced his belief that he was less.

Truly, Ms. Holly knows how to engage a reader. Each character has something that needs healing, that needs loving and their own insecurities and worries seem like insurmountable stumbling blocks. Singly, with only Anso and Ty, or Olivia and James, that is true. But when the author gets all four together, it’s emotional magic.

Erotic romance readers are in for a thrill that satisfies on every level. Every little thing that can hobble a relationship is brought out into the light and explored until all the shadows are dispelled and the power of their love is proven. I thrilled to that little eye trick that proved just how perfect and right the ménage ends up being. Out of all of them, I was happiest for Ty. Very romantic and so perfect, I sniffled just a bit.

There were some important secondary characters, one being a troublemaker and the other, Violet, Olivia and Jame’s daughter. Violet doesn’t affect too much but she’s part of the healthy family portrait and the author was very respectful of that.

One thing Ms. Holly does is mix great emotional conflict with external drama and suspense. Readers will find that aspect in this story as well with the plot to overthrow the current king. Thing is, this is a paranormal so the machinations behind it all were fascinating and really cool. The descriptions were very well done and action packed. The only thing I was mad about was Olivia’s continued thinking about leaving. Even I could see that wasn’t going to work – she was in LOVE! Good thing her heart was stronger than her manipulated brain – it proved crucial.

Hidden Depths takes a reader on an exciting journey of sexual and romantic explorations; a feast of the senses that teases, pleases and satisfies a reader’s cravings for a well told tale. I had a ton of fun reading this story and didn’t want to stop reading for anything. Each character, Olivia, James, Anso and Ty, found a place in my heart and in my dreams. This is one ménage that has a depth of character with a sturdy foundation I could believe in. The happily ever after included every possible thread being tied up in perfect harmony and and it made me feel sentimental and gooey. Thank you, Ms. Holly, for writing another winner!

The fae have created a pocket between our world and theirs where magic can exist. We were introduced to part of that pocket in Hidden Talents where we met the hunky werewolves of the Resurrection Police Dept. (Whom I hope we shall revisit sometime soon please). In Hidden Depths we meet the were-seals of Oceana.

I love Emma Holly. I'm a huge fan of EPNR and Ms. Holly manages to take hotness to a new level in her books. They don't call her the Queen of erotic romance for nothing. If I based this book on the smex alone it would've been a 5 star read for me as it was pure smuttacular goodness.

When she wakes from a nap on the beach after a bout of sex with James she finds herself in the arms of a stranger and her husband being dragged behind her by three other men. She is scared but there is something about the man that feels right.

Claiming his throne and his true blood mate, dealing with royal politics, an angry husband and a disgruntled lover might be too much for most men. But then they wouldn’t be King Anso Vitul.

I have to admit I was a little skeptical at the beginning of this book. Olivia and James have such a deep devotion to each other I wasn’t sure I would like bringing anyone else into their relationship. But when you have fate and an otherworldly connection on your side it makes things a little easier. There are a lot of unfulfilled needs for each person in the beginning of this story be it sexually or emotionally, that once brought to light made going forward easier. I felt there was a good balance of plot line, sex and emotions to keep the story moving.

The sex scenes are scorching hot with a capital “H”, so when you start this book make sure you are not sitting in the doctor’s office waiting room or someplace like that. You may want to save this for a quiet evening at home with a nice glass of wine to drink and tall glass of ice water to pour over you when you start to heat up. The story is captivating and one that you will not want to put down once you have started it. So if you like your romances with hot men and even hotter sex with just a bit of kink thrown in,then Hidden Depths is one you won't want to miss.

Crazy story (to me, these shape-shifter fantasy stories are fairly new) about about a couple married 20 years who get kidnapped by a couple of seal-men with huge phalluses who are horny as hell. The husband figures out he's bi-sexual, and the lead seal-man falls in love, hard, with the wife. There's a second seal-man just to round things out, and make the husband not feel left out while the main seal bangs his wife into kinky oblivion. Somehow it all works out.

Enter newly-crowned King Anso. He feels the weight of his new responsibilities at the same time as his body's need to mate with the one nature chooses for him. It's led him to kidnapping Olivia and bringing her to his world to become Queen. Up until now, his only sexual experiences have been with men per their culture. Once he finds Olivia though, he has no intention of giving her up. No amount of political maneuverings or other's jealousy will sway him. He's lucky to have his long time lover Ty to support his decisions and to add strength to his new relationship. Both of these men are strong and sexy and I can understand why Olivia and James became so enamored with them. Anso is the more serious of the two with a wall surrounding him. Ty is the joker, thought of as lower class because of his lineage and long list of conquests, but he's extremely likable and loyal to his true love Anso.

Olivia and Anso get together immediately upon meeting and it's extremely hot, as is every other time they're together. James and Ty also get together quickly. Their scenes are steamy as well and even though things happen quickly they're still believable. All the sexual interludes are hot and vary between m/f, m/m, m/f/m, and a menage amongst all four of them. These scenes occur frequently and at times overwhelmed the storyline. I wish there was a bit more character development, particularly with the villain who was very stereotypical and one-dimensional, and a bit less sex.

The world of the wereseals is unique and eye-catching. It has some elements of the human world but is much more exotic. There's magic and dragons and other kinds of creatures existing in their world who try not to enter the human realm. Once Olivia is made Queen though the interactions have to happen since they have a daughter. This opens up all sorts of storyline possibilities for future books.

This was a sexually intense book set in a visually intriguing world. The sexual interludes are steamy and creative and very unique to Ms. Holly. This book is part of a series but it can easily be read on it's own. For those looking for something a bit out of the ordinary look no further than Hidden Depths. (less)

Hidden Depths is the second in Ms Holly’s Hidden world following after Hidden Talents which I reviewed here. Unlike the majority of other series I read, which are set in the same world and have some reoccurring characters or events that provide continuity, this seemed much more of a standalone novel. Yes, it was set in the same world but dealt primarily with a different species and environment not to mention an entirely different theme. I will admit when I read the blurb and saw that this featured a married couple I had my doubts but I should have trusted that Ms Holly would make it work.

Ms Holly does not pull any erotic punches with the main characters coming on scene and pretty quickly enjoying an intimate moment with their respective partner. Those encounters displayed not only what types of things the characters enjoyed but also the emotional trust and caring they had within their relationships. I think their caring relationships were the key that allowed the merging of the couples to work. If any individual had been less committed to their partner’s happiness I think the outcome would have been entirely different. I liked that while Ms Holly did use the ‘fated mate’ trope she did not use that trope as the final solution but as the reason for meeting. I also liked how both James and Olivia experienced what the wereseals could give them at the same time but in separate locations. That continued to keep them on an even level with their relationship with each other.

The inclusion of several twists in this story helped elevate it above the increasingly more familiar multi-partner erotic romance. The woman scorned, while determined to get her own back, did not go down the typically well-worn path. As I mentioned earlier the idea of fated mates was not the ultimate answer. Ms Holly also did not make the focus of this as three close male friends/relatives all interested in sharing a single female but more about four people initially two separate couples building a relationship with each other. And then there was the setting…I have always be fascinated with the sea and this certainly fed my imagination. The wereseal world was full of some pretty intriguing creatures and seascapes. I wish we could have explored it and some of the wereseal culture a bit more.

My only quibble is that it seemed some things were accepted a bit too easily not just by the main characters but by the entire ensemble as a whole. Aside from the group of dissenters, which included “the woman scored”, everyone else went along with and loved what James and Olivia brought to their world.

Wow! Times 4! 4 amazing characters & I loved all of them. James was the sweetheart husband - strong, sexy, & totally in love with Olivia. Olivia was also strong, knew what she wanted, and was nice to everybody without being fake. Anso is the king who is in love with his best friend, Ty, and now his mate, Olivia. Ty is the sexy best friend who seems hard on the outside but is a sweetie on the inside. The question is can Holly pull off writing a book with tons of steamy sex with 4 people a...more

The sex scenes were really good in this but I think I need to go back and read the first one. There was a section with a lot of backstory in the dialogue that I didn't think was right. I wish I'd known there was another one! I will definitely be reading more Emma Holly because the erotica was of a very high quality.

I don't know what to say..it was good but different. Not really into the the whole "fantasy" thing with underwater life and fairies and such but I honestly enjoyed the book. Again you have to be very open to the different sexual preferences and choices in life people choose. If you aren't this book isn't for you

I don't know if it was supposed to, but this book thoroughly amused me. Not that it didn't have heart -- it did. And dealt with some interesting issues with exploring sexuality. But were seals?? And that wasn`t really the funny part.... I think the unicorn topped it off for me. Saying all that, I thoroughly enjoyed it....though it might not be everyone`s tastes.

Emma Holly has never disappointed me. This was another great read. MFMM shapeshifter/ fantasy menage set in an underwater world that parallels our own. I loved the relationship between all the players. Holly does a great job with both world and relationship building along with delivering sizzling hot scenes that leave you begging for more.
