“The Godfather Effect” by Tom Santopietro, published by Thomas Dunne Books.

Category – Media/Film

“I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse”, “just business, nothing personal”, and “bada bing”, are all quotes from “The Godfather Trilogy”.

This book is an absolute must for all the fans of “The Godfather” series, and there must be a lot of you, as they have just grossed over one billion dollars.

The book studies the making of the films and how they relate to one another. It gives insight into the

The theme and subject of The Godfather is thrilling for any Godfather fan and student of history. Santopietro weaves 20th century Italian-American culture into inside knowledge and beautiful description of The Godfather films and novel. I learned a lot. A decent analysis of The Godfather and its relationship to second/third generation Italians. Anyone with a grandparent from the Old Country will relate to many of Santopietro's stories. If one finds themselves studying The Godfather Trilogy for any reason (film studies, political theory) the book itself cites many other books and articles that can send them further in their research. The author also keeps the reader interested, as I finished the book in about two days.

Interesting meditation on the Godfather movies, being Italian in America and the author's personal story.
