The Key of Kilenya and The Ember Gods (Kilenya Series, 2)
I recently went on a trip and took both of these books with me, largely because I suffer from vertigo and I knew I would be in mountainous territory. I was riveted to Andrea's books from the beginning and became so caught up in them that I had no problem traveling. My problem was that I couldn't put them down. I'm writing this review of both books together because once I read the first one, I had to have the second one.

The Ember Gods is a great book and no I am not the author although we do have the same name :) Here is the review I have written for it! I highly recommend reading the first book, The Key of Kilenya, as well.
The Ember Gods, the second book in the Kilenya series, is a book I will recommend to anyone who is interested in fantasy stories. I have taught elementary school and I think this series would be appropriate for 10 years and older, although I am sure some of my 6 and 7 year old students would...more

“The Ember Gods” by Andrea Pearson is the second installment in “The Key of Kilenya” series. Jacob begins to explore his new powers and attempts to find a balance between his responsibilities in two very different worlds. The plot thickens as you learn more about the history of Eklaron and the mysterious disappearance of Prince Dmitri whose journal Jacob possesses. It introduces new characters and answers questions presented in the first book. “Ember Gods” is a set up to what you know is going t...more
This is the second book in Pearson's Kilenya series. [Sidenote: I've been wanting to read The Key of Kilenya since it came out, so now that the next book is out, I figured I'd better make some time! I agreed to post this review a couple days ago, but I had to read The Key of Kilenya before I could get to The Ember Gods. So see? I should have followed my insticts and read The Key of Kilenya when I first wanted to, and now my punishment is being late to post my review, which believe me, hurts me a...more
This is the second book in the Kilenya series. I was excited to read this book after I finished Andrea's first book, The Key of Kilenya. I was glad I was able to continue the series. The book starts right up and continues from where the last book left off. I got pulled in instantly and enjoyed reentering the world of Eklaron. The creatures and the world is different from what I've read before and I loved it! Here is the synopsis:

So Jacob is at it again. I almost feel like I can't write too much about this book because of the HUGE spoiler that it would contain. I was pleasantly surprised at the twist at the end. I still think that Jacob takes the whole situation very well for a typical teenager.
School starts and Jacob deals with not being recognized for basketball. High school is a major theme as starting a new school is especially daunting in the 9th grade. (As a high school teacher I know that this can be tough for ma...more

This book picks up about two days after the events which conclude the first book in the series, The Key to Kilenya. As I began this book I was expecting the nonstop action of the previous one to continue. It doesn’t. In fact, in my opinion, this book, although clearly headed in the right direction, seems to meander for quite a long time before the action really begins. Meanwhile, the author springs a very surprising twist to the story on you. Although others may have seen it coming, I certainly...more
Poor Jacob. He thought things were challenging in book 1, The Key of Kilenya.
There's only a break of a couple of weeks between the end of Key and The Ember Gods, but he's got even more to deal with. Still carrying the burden the friend left behind at the end of Key, he's got to juggle things he didn't in his last story. He'd been pulled into that world and was able to focus all his attentions on it.
Now he must learn patience. Others have to put thing in order for a rescue mission. He has to bal...more

Andrea Pearson's sequel to Book One:Key of Kilenya, The Ember Gods, is a great read for teenagers and even adults. I found the first book very interesting and intriguing and it kept me hooked from the first chapter. The second book is even more suspenseful and exciting than the first, which is saying something. There is more action and I feel like I was more into the book; I couldn't put the book down! This book contains a lot of fantasy, mythical type creatures (that are very creative I might a...more
The Ember Gods by Andrea Pearson
Book #2 in The Key of Kilenya Series
At the end of book one, fourteen-year-old Jacob Clark returns from Eklaron. He frustrated the evil plans of the Lorkin and returns the Key of Kilenya to its rightful owners, but for some reason, the key only works for Jacob.
When he escaped the Lorkin, he had to leave his friend, Aloren behind in order to save another friend, Akeno, who is seriously wounded. Jacob is haunted by this decision and vows to return for Aloren.

Wow! I hadn't read the first one in months and yet had no problem jumping right into the second one! Jacob does a fantastic job being a "regular" teenager, while trying to save Aloren from the Lorkons, in his spare time. I love that his parents are so understanding (for a reason) and that he puts his homework first. It's great to read about someone who is in both worlds, instead of having to choose between worlds (like most do). I think this is a great book for ages 9 and up. My son was trying t...more
The Ember Gods, is an exciting second installment of the Kilenya Series. Jacob is back and his adventures are only just beginning. This book will have you on the edge of your seat through most of it. The story just flies off of the page and you can imagine the characters in your head easily. Andrea's imagination clearly shows in this book, because all of the monsters and things are very original and interesting. This would be a great book for anyone over the age of 9, even adults. The Ember Gods, second book from the Kilenya series by Andrea Pearson, hook me up from the very beginning. It has all a young reader can ask for: Adventure, Fantasy, Suspense, Romance, and tons of action. One of the best books I have ever read!

I am NOT like Jacob - who couldn't seem to finish reading a very important journal. He'd only get a paragraph read and then stop, leaving me to wait until he finally managed to pick it up again and give me more clues. Yes, I read this nine months ago, but I still found it impossible to put down. I kept giving myself 10-15 minute time limits for reading so I could get my work done. After dinner, I finally ignored the children needing to do homework and just read and read till I finished. It was l...more
The Ember Gods is the second of the Kilenya series that started with The Key of Kilenya.
In the first book, we are introduced to Jacob Clark, a seemingly normal fourteen-year-old boy with dreams of being a star basketball player. His life takes on a whole new dimension when he becomes involved in the peoples of another world. I'd say more on how that all happens, but that would ruin the surprises and fun found in the first book.

This is the sequel to Key of Kilenya which I also reviewed on the blog. To view that review, click this link. I received this novel to review as part of the blog tours Tristi Pinkston sets up.
The first novel was an enjoyable read and I was really excited to see how Pearson would add to the story in the sequel.
The first novel left a ton of questions unanswered and made me really curious to read the sequel. This novel did the same. It answered a lot of the questions I had from the first one, but...more

I was so excited to see Jacob's story continue in "The Ember Gods". Jacob starts high school while continuing to learn more about Eklaron. The book does a great job of capturing the life of a boy trying to live in two different worlds. Jacob's eagerness to take on whatever he faces felt very true to life. The story is imaginative and fun to read. I can't wait to see what else is in store for Jacob and his friends!
I really like this book! Come read my review on my blog: http://booksrmyfriends.blogspot.com/2...
