Adam Taylor liked working for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. He didn’t even mind the tiny outback town in Western Australia where he was based. If the downside was doing the regular clinic at the Mount Keith nickel mine where his mining engineer ex-boyfriend Chris Barker worked, well, he’d coped with worse. When a visit from Chris leads to an unexpected encounter, Adam c ...more

A short and sweet read, featuring Adam a doctor in the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Chris, a mining engineer.

Outback Australia and especially the mining business aren't easy places to be gay and Chris does everything he can to stop his colleagues from finding out. His paranoia constantly threatens his relationship with Adam - Adam doesn't need Chris to openly acknowledge their relationship, but he'd like Chris to be able to at least visit him for longer than a day or two every couple of week
This was a very sweet short story about a doctor and a miner. Adam Taylor works for the Royal Flying Doctor Service, and Chris Barker is his ex-boyfriend. Chris is scared to come out in a work environment as testosterone-laden as mining and Adam can't deal with Chris' shame. Chris can't seem to keep away from Adam though, and just when Adam has reached his limit of tolerance for Chris' behavior, Adam is caught in a tunnel collapse. Chris has to decide what is more important to him, his feelings ...more
Adam is a fly in doctor to the mining area in Australia. He recently broke up with his BF Chris who works at the mines. You find it out primarily because Chris refuses to be open about their relationship. When Adam is involved in a mine cave-in and they don't know if he's alive Chris has a chance to get his priorities straight. Another nice story set in another location. I felt for Adam as he coped with being a dirty little secret.
Very good short m/m romance about a doctor and a miner who care deeply for each other, but that's not enough, because the miner doesn't want anyone to know they're together. Part of this takes place in Perth!
For a short story, I really liked this one; the setting was different and I enjoyed the Australian accents I heard in my head while reading the dialogue. There isn't a great deal of character development as you come into the story at a time where the main characters already have a history; you're given the short and sweet of it in the beginning and that's about it. What I liked was watching Chris' realization about his relationship with Adam and what he needed to do and the fact that although th ...more

Another of these where you just want to shout "Oh just get over it." at at least one of the characters, but the Australian out back can't be the easiest place to be 'out there' either.

Adam is a fly in doctor working the Australian out-back and Chris is a miner. In and out of a relationship that seems to be going nowhere until Adam in injured in a mine collapse while trying to bring out injured miners. Chris has been unwilling to let others know who he really is until this time and now I'll have
A short visit to the Australian Outback, with two men who used to date being thrown back together again.
I cant imagine being out in the tough mines would be easy and Chris wants to stay firmly in his closet. The problems this brings is a large part of the story.
Injury on the job (RFDS) to Adam makes them see how fleeting life can be and to grab it while you can.
A feel good type of story, one that just grabed my interest and by enough to get the tip to a 4* from a 3.5 rating.
A short story and o
3.5 Stars but bumped up to 4 because I liked it enough to want to read the sequel Rust Red: Galvanized.

The story and characters were good but, at only 23 pages on my e-reader, the story was just too short to really build a plot and to flesh out the 2 MCs.
This was a very good short story about Adam, a doctor, and Chris, a miner. Chris is still in the closet, but when circumstances arise that endanger Adam's life, Chris discovers that coming out isn't as scary as possibly losing the one that you love.
Nice story about a deeply closeted miner discovering almost too late that love is what matters most. This freebie is very short but enjoyable.

A freebie, just starting.
I like Meredith's 'Equilibrium', so this should be good. If not, it's free, so you lose nothing.

A scientist in a past life, these days Meredith Shayne mainly uses her scientific training to poke holes in television pseudoscience. Originally from Australia, she moved to New Zealand a few years ago and hasn't regretted it for one minute, even if she frequently wishes that the New Zealand weather was a little better. Meredith travels a lot, so much so that she has developed a shameful love of a ...more
