It only took a split second for Sean Taggart to look at his newest assignments picture to realize that his life is about to be changed forever. Grace Hawthorne in all her dowdiness in the photo sparks something within Sean, he knows there is something lying beneath her sheltered exterior. His only worry is how deep Grace is involved with the terrorist group that is hiding within the employment agency she is working for.

Grace Hawthorne saw her life as complete, widower and mother of two college...more

"My recipe for dealing with anger and frustration: set the kitchen timer for twenty minutes, cry, rant, and rave, and at the sound of the bell simmer down and go about business as usual.”
- by Phyllis Diller –

I have to explain this quote. The Dom Who Loved Me got me all worked up; it was frustrating at times and I had to simmer down. Hold your horses, Baba...Although I have to admit that I didn’t use a kitchen timer. But I’m...more

I just found another favorite BDSM author. The Dom Who Loved Me has off the chart smexin', a hotter than hot DOM, a fiesty sub (who wasn't sure she was a sub), humor and a SMOKIN' hot secondary cast. The best part...there is in intriguing story to go with the BDSM line. This is truly a romantic suspense with BDSM elements.

This book was... surprising. Surprisingly good in fact. I've had it on my Nook for what seems like forever, but every time I went to read it, I hesitated. I wasn't sure if I could read a heroine with a 8 year age difference to the guy. Not because it isn't cool, just cause I personally have issues dating younger men so I didn't think I would connect with her. Thankfully, I did.

Sean. Holy hell. He was awesome. And given his experience and her inexperience (she'd only been with her now deceased hus...more

3.5 stars. Heat rating 3. I wanted to like this more. I am assuming you have read the description for the purposes of this "review". I saw this compared to Cherise Sinclair's books. The only similarity to me was that it was BDSM romance.

First of all, I admit it, I read these books expecting some hot, smutty sex! Was there? Yes, but barely any. There was talk, there was a good amount of fade to black, and there was a lot of "He fucked me all night last night". Where was I? I missed the good part...more

Per author's website, next book in series is The Men with the Golden Cuffs. Can't wait b/c I'm guessing "the men" will be Adam & Jake, the ménage boys. Yay! No additional info on the book yet though. Just lists it as coming soon.

Thoughts on Book #1: (spoilers exist, but are blocked)

The Dom Who Loved Me did a decent job of mixing suspense, action, and BDSM romance. I'm a huge fan of Cherise Sinclair's Masters of the Shadowlands series and I'm always on the look out for new series similar to...more

The first book in Lexi Blake's new Masters and Mercenaries series and what a stellar book with which to start.

Characters and character development gets an A+ from me. Grace-a far from perfect 40 year old who is strong and feminine, brave and vulnerable, smart and funny. Sean-a HOT alpha male without the ATTITUDE. I didn't know strong Doms came with warm fuzzies in BDSM lit, but Sean is the best of all worlds and SHIT the man can cook! The secondary characters were all so well drawn and interesti...more

First I'd like to say thank you for that cover. It really got me in the mood for reading the book.

This one is really top notch - fantastic writing, strong and believable characters, humor, and hot wicked erotic BDSM! Grace is every womans woman in nearly every way - from how she thinks to the fact that her body isn't perfect. She's strong in all the good ways - the ways us normal girls have to be. We can't all be kick a$$ demon hunters you know! She is also willing to be open enough to be a litt...more

I wasn't sure at first but MariannBellesBookBag @mariann297 had liked the series. If she likes it you know it's going to be good. The "wasn't sure" part in the beginning was: Sean is undercover and Grace is his mark. Didn't like the idea of the lies, intimate relations and him leaving her once the op was over. Buttttt, he was attracted to her from the 1st look at her picture. He immediately struggled with what he was doing. Pretty much tried working out in his head how to keep her after. I Loved...more

What fun! I had such a good time reading this book. It has a nice balance of romance, suspense and hot, kinky sex. The hero and heroine had lots of chemistry and were both very likeable characters. The heroine does do a bit of putting herself down for being older and a little overweight. I never like that but at least she doesn't do a lot of it and she has confidence in other aspects of herself. She also does one tstl thing Those two things were the only things that annoyed me and I'd deduct at...more

The summary says pretty much what the story is about so I'll get down to the nitty gritty. After seeing so many high scores and reviews for this book, I was expecting much more from this.

The cons:

Grace is 40 years old and Sean calls her "little one". That's just weird and it got on my nerves after the fourth or fifth time reading that.

The whole D/s thing didn't come across as believable. He's supposed to be a practicing Dom, yet he established no ground rules with Grace, he broke the Dom charac...more

Sean Taggert is going undercover to bring down terrorists along with his team. He has his sights set on Grace Hawthorne, the lovely administrative assistant. She’s everything he wants in a woman, including the submissive side he senses is hidden from everyone but him. He lies his way into her life only to suspect she might be in with terrorists and only he can save her.

Grace Hawthorne is thrilled to be the center of Sean’s attentions, but she thinks he is only flirting. When he catches her skinn...more

What a fantastic read! I loved the whole cast of characters but I must admit Grace is my favorite heroine, she is so full of life and she has a way of handling all the alpha men around her. I also enjoyed the way Sean would show his softer side even with him being an extreme alpha male. Grace and Sean are perfect together and I'm glad they got their HEA!

Recommend to anyone who enjoys Cherise Sinclair or Kallypso Masters.

I was sucked in by the cover on this one – it’s just gorgeous.

Unfortunately, it took me more than half the book to connect with the characters before I felt fully engaged and cared about what happened to them. Grace is a lovely heroine – a sweet, trusting widow who’s been alone too long and indulges in BDSM romantic fiction but has never actually tried the lifestyle for herself.

Enter Sean – deep undercover, he attempts to woo her and get her to submit as part of his cover to infiltrate her boss’...more

This one started out a bit slow for me. I had a hard time connecting with the characters at the beginning, but by the middle I was hooked. Though it wasn't as intense in the D/s as I would have thought, not that that was a bad thing. I'm looking forward to more books in this series and ended up subscribing to the authors newsletter so I will know when I can know about her new releases.

This is another very fine example of Lexi Blake's writing skill, knowledge of the demands of simply using the language well, and a way of telling the story so that the reader's interest is moved forward. It is a great undercover story that brings a skilled operative together with a warm, caring, authentic woman--the kind Sean had begun to believe didn't exist anymore--and mixed with the threat of terrorism and dominant alpha males, this story has all the ingredients of a marvelous romance story....more

The Dom Who Loved Me by Lexi Blake

I thought this story was good. This is the first installment in the beginning of a new series and it did a good job describing the premise of this series and the characters that I believe will be in the next books. I like when this is done in the first book because I can then continue reading them with some understanding of what to expect in the next story. This is a series I will continue reading.

This story is about Grace and Sean and the twists and turns in th...more

Hook, line & sinker I fell into this story. A bit of "secret operative", a bit of jealous males, a whole lot of HOT sex and a bunch of yummy sounding men and a tiny bit of intrigue to segue you into the next story.

Grace & Sean meet via picture. Yep. Picture. Sean is sent on a mission by his brother, Ian, part owner of a security company. Files and information change hands to learn about what they (Sean and his buddies) are walking into. Little did Sean know that he was going to meet the...more

The Dom Who Loved Me was the first book by Lexi Blake that I have ever read and boy am I glad I did. It was the best BDSM book I have read with a delectable Dom (who is not only good in the bedroom but amazing in the kitchen as well on top having the darkly sexy moves of an ex special forces soldier), a witty and fiesty sub and a too die for secordary cast. I loved everything about this book! The sex scenes sizzled with deliciousness and the suspense keep me intrigued and on the edge of my seat...more

I want my very own Sean.

And I'm guessing that most people who read this book will agree.

Sean is hot. Tall, blond, sexy, knows how to handle a gun, and makes an excellent Coq au Vin.

Grace is the 40-year-old widow he falls in love with. She's funny, passionate, and a great mom. She's someone who gave up herself to take care of her family, and now that they are all gone, she is ready to live. I think many women will relate to her.

This first solo book by Lexi Blake is a spy story with hot sex, guns,...more

This book is one of the few for which I haven't rooted for the protagonist, Sean is an arrogant, selfish, which is believed to be powerful ...sure,he is a Dom, but I do not like. Grace I was more sympathetic, finally a forty year old female lead but she disappointed me. I understand that she is submassive and she automatically risponds to the voice of her Dom, but really after all the lies and betrayals of Sean's, she is sulking for a few days ... I do not find too decent ... of course there is...more

Well....If you want a man who really loves a woman, who does so from the first moment he meets her and you like to see a woman 40 as the object of his desire then this book is for you. I say more power to the 40 plus crowd. This is a Dom and his Sub but with an enormous amount of love and respect involved. I have read a few of these type of books but this one did it for me. I did not find myself squirming I found myself intrigued. Some really hot scenes and lots of worship from a very strong sex...more

I honestly thought I would have a problem reading this title because the heroine was 8 years older than the hero. I was afraid she would focus too much on her age and their differences and yadda yadda yadda...but I actually really loved this story. of course there were moments of self doubt because of the age difference but in the end it wasn't a huge factor to the story - at least to me anyway. There was a great balance of steamy love scenes and suspenseful action that I read well into the nigh...more

3.5 stars.

The author has a very strong, unique voice. I loved that the heroine wasn't a twenty-something and that she had to face her insecurities and sexual needs.

The story started off well and quickly built steam, but then floundered for me. I found the hero to be too controlling, to immature and possessive at times despite his penchant for dominance. I kept questioning why the heroine would want to be with someone like him, but there were several other intriguing plot lines that hinted at mo...more

Thank goodness I started reading this on the weekend because I stayed up all night reading it. Once I started I couldn't put it down. This book appeals on so many levels, my love of a good mystery book was happy, intrigue, it's here, I've always been a sucker for a good romance, and it delivers in spades on that, and heat, I all can say is Grace and Sean sizzle when they come into contact with each and everything else around them burns away
This book has lots to get you hooked, reel you in and le...more

After completing 50 shades of grey trilogy, I was longing for more.

I searched Amazon & came across this book & thought I'd give it a try. Very glad that I did. I couldn't put it down. I loved the characters, Sean & Grace. Also love the rest of the group & after completing it I still wanted more....then came across The Men with the Golden Cuffs, thought I was in heaven.

Lexi Blake is an impressive author. She has a nice writing style and her characters are both likeable and believable. And her sex scenes are absolutely the best I've ever read. They're not rushed or cliche. They're very sensual, erotic, with a nice dash of kink mixed in. This story had a really good plotline with plenty of twists, surprises and a suspense-filled ending that wasn't predictable or too easy. Very nice writing, satisfyingly erotic, some really well-turned phrases. I highly recommend...more

I really enjoyed Their Virgin Captive, so I decided to give this a try.

I LOVED Sean. Not only can this man tie me up, spank me, and leave me boneless but he COOKS!

There is so much to like in this book. It was funny. It had a heroine I could relate to and whom I really adored, a supporting cast of characters I am dying to read more about (give me the menage boys next, please) and a really good story. It was like reading a good spy book but with filthy and very fun sex.

I highly recommend this one....more
