I have to explain this quote. The Dom Who Loved Me got me all worked up; it was frustrating at times and I had to simmer down. Hold your horses, Baba...Although I have to admit that I didn’t use a kitchen timer. But I’m going to keep that in mind and give it a try another time when the need arises. Funny thing is that the kitchen timer is so appropriate because the hero is a great cook. Yeah, Sean likes to SIMMER (pun intended) his amazing meals. Besides satisfying women...this guy knows how to cook! So not fair!

Our heroine, Grace Hawthorne, is a forty-year-old widow with two grown sons. She works as an admin assistant for an employment agency. The hero, Sean Taggart, is chasing a terrorist, and it seems that his only lead is our heroine, Grace. Sean suspects that Grace’s employer is linked to illegal activities. Former Green Beret, Sean, is really eager to get verrry close to Grace to unravel those crimes and to catch the villain. My oh my, was he ever grateful to getting so close to Grace when he discovers her submissive nature...Grace loves to read BDSM novels, and Sean is perfect for her. She’s living out her wildest fantasies, and Sean knows exactly how to pleasure her.

Hmmm...The Dom Who Loved Me was rather difficult to review. Usually I already know what I want to write when I’m reading a book. It was kind of an emotional rollercoaster. I felt totally frustrated and annoyed at times! Time after time I thought that Sean was a self-righteous and stupid jerk and Grace a naive heroine! Talking about self-righteous and stupid jerk...seriously, Ian Taggart could give Sean a run for his money. Boy, was I ever exasperated! Sean calls Grace 'little one' AD NAUSEAM!! And the word f*ck/f*cked/f*cking is used to the utmost. Gosh, sometimes I felt that I could have caused deliberate self-harm (such as tearing off my hair).

I appreciated the fact that the heroine was eight years older than the hero. Actually, what I really liked about The Dom Who Loved Me is that the BDSM topic was nicely wrapped up by a plot. Besides having very hot and kinky sex, the main couple was living a life. Ehm, admittedly a pretty dangerous life but a life nevertheless. Sean acts like a jerk but boy, this guy is one HOT and yummylicious jerk. On top of that, the heroine which I mentioned was a tad too naive for my liking, was really witty and feisty. During this frustrating read they somehow became rather dear to me. It’s a bit crazy, isn’t it? I can’t help it but I am looking forward to reading Ian’s story. This guy seems to be absolutely intriguing and in addition to that he is a bloody a*s. Gosh, believe me I am so not a masochist but I’d like to read more about him. Besides Ian there are a few very interesting secondary characters as well, such as Adam, Jake, and Eve. The final 'climax' (pun intended) was thrilling and of course there was a HEA for H/h, but one has to wonder what will happen with the supporting cast.

The Dom Who Loved Me by Lexi Blake is book 1 in the Masters and Mercenaries series. It’s one hot, engaging, and frustrating read! If you like Cherise Sinclair’s books then give Ms. Blake a try.

I just found another favorite BDSM author. The Dom Who Loved Me has off the chart smexin', a hotter than hot DOM, a fiesty sub (who wasn't sure she was a sub), humor and a SMOKIN' hot secondary cast. The best part...there is in intriguing story to go with the BDSM line. This is truly a romantic suspense with BDSM elements.

This book was... surprising. Surprisingly good in fact. I've had it on my Nook for what seems like forever, but every time I went to read it, I hesitated. And the sex scenes were...just WOW. When he dove into the pool? I had visions in my head that would not go away. Lexi Blake definitely knows how to write a steamy scene. In addition, though, it wasn't just about sex. Grace had her self confidence issues, but Sean helped her past that and she found her strength when she found her Dom in Sean. I thought her declaration to him was a bit soon, but then I back tracked and saw that the two had been spending a lot of time together. I'll call it off screen time since we only gets bits and pieces of it (when he would come in every day, asking her out, see her at happy hour, just talk with her, dance with her, etc). So yeah, it was still soon, but the author built a strong enough connection between the two (for me) that I didn't roll my eyes or anything. I think there was only once when I did that-when Adam was being an idiot and did something so dumb Sean should have killed him for it, and he believed that Grace was into it. (And another time, when he didn't trust her. I wanted to bop him upside the head!) But no book is perfect and it added to the conflict, so it's all good, in the end.

Oh and I just have to say, at the end, the standoff with the bad guy: omg I don't think I was breathing. I really though that the book was going to end badly. Not as in "bad", I didn't like it, but bad as in, things were not going to work out. I was freaking out a little about that. Kudos to Lexi Blake for making my heart stop!

One issue I did have was sometimes the heroine would try to top from the bottom. When I read a D/s book, usually the D in the relationship does not go for this. (I'm thinking Cherise Sinclair here. And if the s does try this most books, the results will not be good.) Sean waffled at times-giving in to Grace on an occasion or two. He should have known better. Now towards the end this changed, but still, it just felt off to me and I had to agree with Ian at times-that Grace was being a brat and Sean should reign her in (in terms of their D/s relationship, not like, be an jerk about it. Just be true to the D/s aspect of their lives). But, whatever. Their relationship worked for them in the end, so I won't quibble too much about that.

I am going to buy the 2nd in this series today but I am going into that one with a bit of nerves. I did not like Adam AT ALL. He was a jerk, and like Sean, I wanted to punch the living crap out of him. I wish Jake had taken better control of him because he was being ridiculous. And even what he did at the end, for Grace, I still couldn't find much sympathy for him. He was handsy and he was going for his friend's woman. And he was blatant and obvious about it and I don't care much what he was going through. These guys were supposed to be best friends, and war buddies, and that crap should NOT have gone down. Bad Adam! (Can you tell it pissed me the hell off? LOL) So this is why I am not thrilled to go into book 2. Maybe I should just skip to 3 though with my OCD I might freak about that. I need to read series books in order. It's a MUST most of the times (and it's annoying, but I can deal). So I might have to suffer through Adam and hope to hell he gets redeemed (in my eyes) in his and Jacob's book and then move swiftly to Liam's story.

I do hope Ian gets a book eventually. Even though he was gruff and sometimes mean, I know that there has to be someone out there to melt his heart. And I really want to know about Eve and Alex. So this book was 4 Solid Stars for me! Can't wait to read more from this author (except the Adam. God I don't WANNA!!! *whines*)(less)

3.5 stars. Heat rating 3. I wanted to like this more. I am assuming you have read the description for the purposes of this "review". I saw this compared to Cherise Sinclair's books. The only similarity to me was that it was BDSM romance.

What fun! I had such a good time reading this book. It has a nice balance of romance, suspense and hot, kinky sex. The hero and heroine had lots of chemistry and were both very likeable characters. The heroine does do a bit of putting herself down for being older and a little overweight. I never like that but at least she doesn't do a lot of it and she has confidence in other aspects of herself. The secondary characters are all very well written. The bad guys were fun to hate but not cartoonish. The rest of the Taggart/McKay crew made me want to jump ahead in my tbr pile and read the rest of the series. I could see foreshadowing for their stories and I think they'll also be very good.

There were two other elements that really made this book for me. The hero is a foodie and aspiring chef and the descriptions of the food he cooked made me drool. Also I was born, raised and currently live in north Texas and I know DFW very well. The area doesn't quite become a character but I do feel Ms. Blake described it well. I hope it's even more present in future books. There is one tiny thing that has me perplexed, (view spoiler)

In conclusion: Loads of fun. I've had a lot of fun reading this author's Masters of Menage (written with Shayla Black) as well. Both series are sexy, funny and kind of absurd in the most enjoyable way .(less)

The first half of this book, I was skeptical of this whole love affair. It seemed a little corny and not what I was expecting. Sean loves to cook and the way it is described makes me not really like him. That surprised me since I love men who can cook. He does want out the security business, but his brother is part owner of it and he feels some obligation. Sean isn’t the only team member on the case and some of the others also felt attracted to Grace. So a lot of time Sean was constantly battling the other guys in fits of jealousy. It just seemed a little over the top.

Grace kept topping from the bottom and Sean lets her. She falls instantly into the role of a sub.

There is a lot of drama between Grace and Sean. Trust is lost and while they get it back it is a little easier than it should have been. I didn’t particularly like Sean’s treatment of Grace in the latter part of the book. In particular I didn’t like Ian, Sean’s brother. He obviously has had a bad past and I expect to learn more when he gets his book.

There are a lot of supporting characters that I am assuming will make up this series. You have Jake and Adam, two men who have been through a lot together and expect to find their one. They often go undercover as gay guys. There is Liam, a hard ass who hides his Irish side with a mid-western accent. We don’t get to see Alex McKay much, the other owner of the company, so I couldn’t form much of an opinion. His ex-wife, Eve, is the profiler of the group. At the end of this book, you get insight into who will get the next book in the series and I am looking forward to it.

This is a great first book for the author. I am looking forward to reading more from her in the future.(less)

What a fantastic read! I loved the whole cast of characters but I must admit Grace is my favorite heroine, she is so full of life and she has a way of handling all the alpha men around her. I also enjoyed the way Sean would show his softer side even with him being an extreme alpha male. Grace and Sean are perfect together and I'm glad they got their HEA!

Recommend to anyone who enjoys Cherise Sinclair or Kallypso Masters.

Enter Sean – deep undercover, he attempts to woo her and get her to submit as part of his cover to infiltrate her boss’s organisation. He’s pretty much lying to her at every opportunity. He recognises her desire to submit and uses his vast experience as a dom to get her right where he wants her. Now, a D/s relationship is supposed to be based heavily in trust and this is where the story falls down a bit – Grace trusts him but he is lying to her and she is falling in love.

Ian, Sean’s older brother, pulls him from the op when he realises he’s getting emotionally compromised and this is when I finally started to warm to Sean although he was still convinced that Grace was lying and involved in her boss’s op. Where’s the trust?? Eventually he realises that she’s telling the truth, that he loves her and allows her to use herself as bait against his better judgement and the story changes up a few gears and we get an exciting, thrilling finish.

We have a whole host of future book lead heroes including Jake and Adam who are heavily into ménage and are looking for a girl to share and I suspect that they will be the leads in the next book The Men with the Golden Handcuffs.

It actually felt very reminiscent of a Shayla Black novel and the sex was very hot. I hated that he called her ‘little one’. She’s eight years his senior and it just didn’t fit – he explains why he says it but it never felt right to me. I only liked Sean, I never loved him. However, I will read the next one – sucked in again by a great cover and the promise of a delicious duo.

Though it wasn't as intense in the D/s as I would have thought, not that that was a bad thing. This is another very fine example of Lexi Blake's writing skill, knowledge of the demands of simply using the language well, and a way of telling the story so that the reader's interest is moved forward. The Dom Who Loved Me was the first book by Lexi Blake that I have ever read and boy am I glad I did. It was the best BDSM book I have read with a delectable Dom (who is not only good in the bedroom but amazing in the kitchen as well on top having the darkly sexy moves of an ex special forces soldier), a witty and fiesty sub and a too die for secordary cast. I want my very own Sean.

And I'm guessing that most people who read this book will agree.

Sean is hot. Tall, blond, sexy, knows how to handle a gun, and makes an excellent Coq au Vin.

Grace is the 40-year-old widow he falls in love with. She's funny, passionate, and a great mom. She's someone who gave up herself to take care of her family, and now that they are all gone, she is ready to live. I think many women will relate to her.

This book is one of the few for which I haven't rooted for the protagonist, Sean is an arrogant, selfish, which is believed to be powerful ...sure,he is a Dom, but I do not like. Well....If you want a man who really loves a woman, who does so from the first moment he meets her and you like to see a woman 40 as the object of his desire then this book is for you. I honestly thought I would have a problem reading this title because the heroine was 8 years older than the hero. I was afraid she would focus too much on her age and their differences and yadda yadda yadda...but I actually really loved this story. of course there were moments of self doubt because of the age difference but in the end it wasn't a huge factor to the story - at least to me anyway. The author has a very strong, unique voice. I loved that the heroine wasn't a twenty-something and that she had to face her insecurities and sexual needs.

After completing 50 shades of grey trilogy, I was longing for more.

Lexi Blake is an impressive author. She has a nice writing style and her characters are both likeable and believable. And her sex scenes are absolutely the best I've ever read. They're not rushed or cliche. They're very sensual, erotic, with a nice dash of kink mixed in. This story had a really good plotline with plenty of twists, surprises and a suspense-filled ending that wasn't predictable or too easy. I really enjoyed Their Virgin Captive, so I decided to give this a try.

I LOVED Sean. Not only can this man tie me up, spank me, and leave me boneless but he COOKS!

There is so much to like in this book. It was funny. It had a heroine I could relate to and whom I really adored, a supporting cast of characters I am dying to read more about (give me the menage boys next, please) and a really good story. It was like reading a good spy book but with filthy and very fun sex.

I highly recommend this one....more
