This series is just pure excellence.
When starting the book, I was pretty sure that this book would be like most of the books I've read - boring, cliched. However, when I read the first book, I got hooked, I couldn't stop reading. I sacrificed my sleep to finish the book, and I finished the whole series in about a week.
This series is completely action-packed - what makes it special. Action, action, action. You'll never get bored. The twists and turns are just amazing. What I like most is the rom

What kept me going from book to book (total 6) in a span of 3 and half days, you ask me? DIMITRI. DIMITRI. DIMITRI.
So do I have a new crush (more like gut wrenching- overpowering-heart aching- obsessive-unrequited-love)? YES. Do I want to re-read this series? YES. . Although I wanted to smash away the books, whenever the annoying love triangle was thrown in the mix. Do I want to read more paranormal fiction stories? YES. Do I want to read the bloodlines series? HELL NO. Thank you author, for VA,

This is one of my favorite series of all time. I freakin love Rose, the main character. She's kick ass and awesome and the series is so amazing.
My rank of favoritism:
1) Blood Promise (book four)
2) Last Sacrifice (book 6)
3) Spirit Bound (book 5)
4) Shadow Kiss (book 3)
5) Frost Bite (book 2)
6) Vampire Academy (Book 1)
Lemme explain.
I love the fourth book the best probably because of the hero's journey. She goes all the way to Russia, where she has to fight Dimitri and fight h

This isn't the regular flowery high school paranormal romance but darker than that. The series starts out good and interesting and as it progresses the plot gets more complicated. The characters like Lissa and Christian are okay, though not that extraordinary despite their awesome powers. I liked the ingenuity of the narrative, making us follow both Rose's and Lissa's adventures at the same time.
Now to more important stuffs:
Despise is a strong word but it is close to what I do Rose. She is not a
Favorite series of all time. Definitely the best of the 'vampire' novels.

I've noticed this thing about Mead's books; the first halves are boring and slow, but the second halves are bloody amazing so that's why I have so many mixed feelings about this series. :/
So the first 3 books were pretty good! The last three books were quite disappointing...:(
I'm very doubtful about Mead's spinoff series' Bloodlines...

This series was absolutely amazing. Possible the best books I have ever read.
Richelle Mead's amazing writing never failed to keep me on the edge of my seat (or bed, or bus, or car or everywhere my kindle and I have travelled!), and I was constantly waiting to know what was going to happen next.
I have never become to emotionally attached to characters as I have to Rose, Dimitri, Lissa, Christian, Adrian just to name a few. These characters have been brought to life so beautifully, and will defi
I loved Buffy when I was young, and even now (when I am OLD, 42!) I enjoy YA novels and still really like vampire reads. This was a little different than others I've been familiar with (a complete vampire society, different types of vampires) but I really liked it.

The first book was actually the most difficult to get into. It had a very abrupt start and was a little hard to understand until it explained some things later on. All the remaining books did have quite a bit of repetition (which would
I read the series in 2 days because it was, well, gripping!
There are many clichés - the dark, brooding, stronger-than-everyone else, honorable heartthrob, the volcanic heroine, and goddess save us: High School -
many shortcuts and things I would probably have found highly illogical if I hadn't been reading so quickly,

Um, WOW. This book series was FREAKING amazing. I loved it so much, and Ive read the whole series cover-to-cover four times.

Good Points:

~Adrian. I really don't think that needs elaborating. Admit it. We all want one.

~The storyline. This was so well-thought out and unique. It really was one-of-a-kind. No cliche love stories<3

~Action. It had some kick-ass fighting scenes that rivalled that of violent books. It was fast-paced, descriptive and amazing.

~Lissa. She's an amazing best friend, just li
Една от най-добрите поредици на вампирска тематика за да не кажа най-добрата. Все пак съм лоялна и към друга поредица.
This is arguably my favorite book series. The first half of the series, which takes place so heavily in a high-school setting, portrays teenagers in their every-day interactions so well, even though the teens in this book aren't even human. Richelle Mead never failed to make me laugh, smile, cry, or curse. The story itself is spellbinding from start to finish and anyone who can stand the vampire genre should definitely give it a shot - especially because the mythological material dealt with is s ...more

I really really wish I could give this series 3.5 or 4 stars because Books 1-3 are top notch 5 star books but then Books 4 and 5 are more like 4 stars and the sixth book is such a mess. The relationship between Rose and Lissa is great; it's one of the few great female-female friendships shown in YA lit. They share a bond, rather than just sharing gossip in 4-5 scenes. I would say it borders on homosexual, but why put labels?

The idea that the good vampires have stupid teen drama, and live in secl

This is a great series to read. I really enjoyed the characters and the problems they faced, and was happy to have waited to read it - when I finished the fifth installment, I took my daughter to the grocery store and saw "Last Sacrifice" on display, so it was the perfect timing! I didn't have to wait.

For me, the best part about this was that the characters - Rose, Lissa, Dimitri, and Christian - weren't "fake". They face real problems that teens and young adults (NA?) would face, human or night

Two races of vampires walk our world. One, the Moroi, are alive and wield elemental magical. The other, the Strigoi, are undead and evil—feeding on the innocent to survive. Rose Hathaway—a half-vampire with poor impulse control—is training to be a bodyguard for a Moroi
I was sceptical at the beginning: I saw the movie and ... It was nice but that's it. At least it made me want to read the books which I did. I didn't expect to enjoy those as much as I did let alone read the entire series but I did.

The first book is nice but is by far the less entertaining of the series. But if you can get through with the first book you'll find that the books get better and better as Rose, the main character and narrator, evolves and grows up.

I read the 6 books in 3 weeks! Pr

Well structure character composition. Great insightful and descriptive writing. These books are swift read and not even once I got tired or bored of any of them. Constant action and how the story is unraveled to reader is simply outstanding.
Although vampires are somehow childish and this story sits well withing genre the writer did excellent job at keeping things within worlds rules and boundaries. It is an unique creative imagination of the writer that presents the story in a way that it can be

So here's the thing: I still like vampires. I also really like Young Adult novels. So, Young Adult novels about vampires are like guilty-pleasure catnip to me. When they're bad, though, they're really really bad (cough * Twilight * cough), fortunately that wasn't the case with The Vampire Academy series (the movie...well that's another story, sigh).

The center-piece of the book is Rose Hathaway, the half vampire/ half human body guard for the "good" (Moroi) vampires, and a killer of the "bad" (S

Overall I liked this book very much because it has a lot of interests a typical reader of fiction would look for. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone who likes vampires of the undead because this series is intertwined with it all. I would have to give it five stars because it has become one of my favorite series, and it is now a major motion picture. Personally I think anyone who is interested in fiction books because it has a little bit of everything in the series, it has vampire ...more

This VA series is amazing. I can't believe that I still can't stop think of the series ever since I finish it 3 weeks ago. Richelle Mead has done a really incredible work. She brought me to another world of vampire. The vampire world that's different from what I used to know or believe. Also, thanks to this series, I have another new crush, Dimitri and another new favourite couple, Romitri, the sweetest and protective couple ever. I love everything about the series, the plot, the love, the chara ...more
Overall I would give the whole series 3.5 stars. It started out great (books 1-3). The last three books were not well-written and the series truly started losing its spark. The books kept getting longer (makes me wonder if some authors get paid by the word count...), but also more boring. It finally picked back up a little with the final book, but just a little. I think it would have been better as a trilogy, or maybe a quartet with a better fourth book to wrap things up. Additionally, the alche ...more

Delightful beach reading. The fourth and fifth books seemed to get bogged down in its own angst, but 1-3 and 6 were incredibly enjoyable. Read the series in a week, then made the mistake of paying to see the movie. Stick to the pages on this one.

Okay so my thoughts on all six Vampire Academy... I think all six of these books were written amazingly. I love how Richelle Mead described everyone it really painted a clear image in my head of what each character looked like, she also did a amazing job with describing the scenery and just everything. while reading these books it felt kind of like I was watching a movie that only I could see. I found it very easy to get lost in them and never wanting to put them down. I read each book as it was ...more

The series is far from boring.

Readers of the series just want to go from one book to the next because it is packed with action, romance and a whole lot of crazy. You just don't want to anticipate, but get in to reading to really know what happens next.

I normally do not like reading series because it is too time consuming and it usually makes you want to breathe for other stuff, not just "this one." And most especially, I hate vampire story lines. I never knew what got into me but I started this
