I cant believe its taken me so long to read the books.
Kick-ass/Badass Rose Hathaway sucks you in from the very beginning.
You cant help but root for her the hole way through till the end.
Especially when it comes to her & handsome/mysterious Dimitri Belikov.
Each book takes you on a rollercoaster of Forbidden Romance, Action, emotions,

This series is just pure excellence.
When starting the book, I was pretty sure that this book would be like most of the books I've read - boring, cliched. However, when I read the first book, I got hooked, I couldn't stop reading. I sacrificed my sleep to finish the book, and I finished the whole series in about a week.

My friend was continually trying to convince me to read this series but I was quite reluctant about vampire novels as I thought they could be a bit cheesy and over-the-top. But when I finally caved and read the books, I couldn't get my nose out of them.
It took me just over a week to read them all and I couldn't get enough! Each time I finished one I would think "it can't get better than that." But it did! Every book was better than the last.

This is one of my favorite series of all time. I freakin love Rose, the main character. She's kick ass and awesome and the series is so amazing.

Um, WOW. This book series was FREAKING amazing. I loved it so much, and Ive read the whole series cover-to-cover four times.
Good Points:
~Adrian. I really don't think that needs elaborating. Admit it. We all want one.
~The storyline. This was so well-thought out and unique. It really was one-of-a-kind. No cliche love stories<3
~Action. It had some kick-ass fighting scenes that rivalled that of violent books. It was fast-paced, descriptive and amazing.

This is arguably my favorite book series. The first half of the series, which takes place so heavily in a high-school setting, portrays teenagers in their every-day interactions so well, even though the teens in this book aren't even human. Richelle Mead never failed to make me laugh, smile, cry, or curse. Love the Vampire Academy series! Big Richelle Mead fan. This is the best series I've ever read. Each book keeps the story going without monotony, and the story is so different and interesting..you really don't what will happen. Obviously these books are written for young adults & teenagers..pretty PG-13 stuff, although there are some sexy parts to be sure! Nothing too graphic though. A love story, with some kickass and a few twists and turns thrown in. Oh and vampires. And sexy instructors.....more
I loved Buffy when I was young, and even now (when I am OLD, 42!) I enjoy YA novels and still really like vampire reads. This was a little different than others I've been familiar with (a complete vampire society, different types of vampires) but I really liked it.

I’ll admit, I started reading this series with a very skeptical eye. A part of me really felt like the vampire stories were all the same, so how could the Vampire Academy be different? I think I realized after the first book in this series that what Richelle Mead creates is a much different vampiric world than what one might expect. I REALLY liked this series...and I'm in my 30s and have 4 kids. I read the House of Night series, was appalled, and then someone suggested I try these- and they were fantastic. Much better, more believable, not near as dark, but very realistic. I really wasted time on the afore mentioned series but I have branched out now, from VA to the spin off Bloodlines books: and I like them even more...and am patiently (well not so patiently) waiting for book 4.
The first two books in the series barely held my attention, but at the end of both of them there was all this "OMG" and kick-ass action going on that I kept going. By the third book I was hooked. I love the fantasy fiction stuff, and am always excited when I find something orginial. This vampire book has it's own kind of vampires, not traditional or Twilight. This series is definitely a guilty pleasure set of books. The writing is clear but a little juvenile and clearly made for high school girls. Despite the fact that they are not shining examples of literary genius, I cannot help getting addicted to the plot; the hopeless romantic little girl in me likes the relationship-intrigue type stuff
This series rocks! I couldn`t put the books down until I finished them. Liked all the characters; especially Rose and Dimitri!! It`s not your typical teen vampire series. Richelle Mead added a lot of new things to these books, for example the Strigoi, the fiercest and most dangerous of all the vampires. Had me hooked from the beginning.
These books are fine if you want a bit of light hearted escapism. I read the series and enjoyed it as an antidote to a stressful and busy life. You will not be challenged in any way by these books but you might find them quite good fun!

I will admit I never heard of Richelle mead but as soon as I started reading the first book in the series Vampire Academy, I was completely in ore. I read the book 3 times in one week because I didn't have the next book in the series. I couldn't wait to go and buy the next book and just keep reading. I still remember a day me and my best friend sat down and each read a book in the series.

These books are written so perfectly they are utterly captivating. Rose is witty and sarcastic, one of the best characters I've ever read.
This is a must read. I will re-read this series again and again. If you like excitment and passion, then you will love this.
I wish the story didn't have to end maybe one day we will find out about rose and dimitri and how Adrian is.
