I love westerns, cowboys, and sexy romance - especially when the characters are polar opposites. Perhaps that's why I enjoyed "Nothing But Trouble" by Lisa Mondello. Now, I know cowboys are not everyone's cup of tea but Stoney Buxton is not just any cowboy. He's a bull rider with an agenda. He needs money to help with the family ranch and his dad's medical bills.

Melanie Summers is offering to pay him an impressive sum to act as her guide for a one month foray into the Wyoming wilderness because...more

First Thought when Finished: There are some side characters I would like to know more about (checked authors website and at least one of them is getting their own book)!

What I Loved: This was just a quick (finished in one night) read that was sweet, sexy, and set in a beautiful landscape.

Some favorite moments:

Adele (Stoney's Mom) gave a hardy laugh. "You've got to cowboy up, girl. When he starts

Stoney Buxton had been a bull rider in the rodeo until a year ago. Their barn burned down and a beam caught his dad and took away his ability to walk, so Stoney came home to the ranch, where he belonged. They were struggling because of extra land they bought and the medical bills. So when Melanie Summers showed up offering to pay him to be her guide in the mountains, his folks thought it was a good idea. He did not. He was thinking hitting a few of the big rodeo's would help. This fancy city gir...more

I love books with cowboy's, farms, and ranches. And this one was no different. I really enjoyed this book!

It starts out with Melanie being a city girl needing a tour guide for a month in the mountains. So she finds a cowboy who needs the money to save his family's ranch, and offers him this opportunity for a whole month with her in the mountains.
Things start out really rocky between them because they each have a major attraction to the other, but they aren't going to act on it. And Melanie is...more

I read somewhere that Mitch Broader from "His Heart for the Trusting" was in this book so I decided to read this one first. City girl who wants to prove herself comes to Wyoming looking for adventure and boy does she find it. Only problem is that Melanie Summers has diabetes and doesn't tell her adventure guide about it. They are going out into the wilderness for a month so she can prove to her father that she can take care of herself and her diabetes won't be a problem. But without telling Ston...more

Lovely and sweet romance about a sheltered rich girl (Melanie) who is trying to break free from her parents and make her own way in life. Melanie is on a mission to prove to her parents that she doesn't have to live with them and lead a sheltered life and that she can also take care of herself (she has type 1 diabetes). After her father thwarts her plans to go with fellow zoologists to Africa, she heads to a ranch near the wilderness with plans to stay out there for 30 days to show her father sh...more

I found this cute little romance to be both very enjoyable and a fast read. The couple were from such very different walks of life and each one had other severe problems in their lives that made this a poor time for love, so that the obstacles to their budding relationship were presented in a realistic, believable manner without getting all hokey and contrived. Both people appeared to be trying to deal with the problems that life presented them, as best they could, with courage and grit, so I ha...more

Nothing But Trouble was a cute story. It's nice to see the rich girl not act like a rich girl and fend for herself. Stoney is a hunky, sweaty, hard-working cowboy who was doomed from the beginning to fall in love with the beautiful, smart, and classy rich girl, Melanie.
The story moves quickly. There aren't any moments that drag or seem redundant with a good pacing. The tension between Stoney and Melanie makes for an interesting read. There's heaps of sexual tension, back-and-forth emotions and r...more

My thoughts:
Once again Lisa Mondello has created fantastic characters, the kind of people that you wish truly lived, and set them in a wonderful story. The book reads fast, drawing you in at the very start; making you love the characters more and more with each turn of the page. You feel what they feel and almost seem to be living through the struggles with them.
She carries a feeling of strong family bonds and ties throughout her books.
She is such a great storyteller. Do not miss out on this o...more

Ok so I really liked the idea of this story and it had some major potential on where it could've gone but they story went all over the place. It felt as if they were skipping things and in theory run I really enjoyed the story but I would've liked more development between the main characters and I felt lost like some primary information was missing through the entire story and I would've liked for them to make it to the over look at some point even after the poo hitting the fan wife Stoney made...more

Absolutely loved this Book. Stoney turned out to be a great hero and Melanie had just the right amount of sass and determination to make her story worth reading. The cowboy genre is new to my reading list but a mention on Twitter of all places drew me to the book. Loaded the Kindle up for a week of vacation reads as I listen to the surf along the glorious Outer Banks of North Carolina. This satisfying visit to Wyoming courtesy of Lisa Mondello was a great way to start relaxing!

To quote a previous commenter, "Ok so I really liked the idea of this story and it had some major potential on where it could've gone but the story went all over the place."

It took awhile for me to settle into the story, the way it jumped around. Once it got there I really liked it but I then noticed the editing went down hill.

Side note, the male on the cover gives me the willies. And those aren't the good willies.

I thought this was a cute story. It's nice to see the rich girl not act like a rich girl expecting everyone to do for her but to do for herself. I thought the relationship she had was sweet and not depicted as a sex scene but shared their feelings nicely. I would recommend this book. It reminds people that money isn't everything and love is what helps us thru.

This was a decent quick read. I found it strange that it ended at 80% and then had book club questions at the end. This didn't really strike me as a good enough read for a book club. There were several typos and I had to figure out what the author was trying to say in more than one place. I would give it a 2.5 star rating.

As others have said, this story seemed choppy. I like nature books that transport you to in another place and that combined with romance was quite nice. I found the word tomorrow spelled incorrectly in this book and several other errors. Did the author simply not bother to spell check?
Angie
Nice short romance story. A debutant wanting to be more than her station in life dispite her having medical issues, a bull rider/cowboy who doesnt realize all that he has. For a short story this book had me on a emotional roller coaster most of the time.

I don't know why I read these, I guess because I find them free on my kindle. They are all the same though. Boy meets girl, they fall for each other, get into a fight and separate just to realize they can't live without each other and end up happily ever after. Blah blah blah.

It's been awhile since I've indulged in your typical Romance... But it was totally worth it. Love, stubbornness and a cowboy? It doesn't really get any better than that! :)

This book was a little slow starting. But I really enjoyed the way it was written. I loved the female character she was so strong in spite of her sickness.

A love story...plain & simple. But who doesn't love a rodeo cowboy?? Not really all that schmokin' but the love was there, and so was the HEA. Worth it.

Two-haiku review:

First the font bugged me
Then juvenile dialogue
Typos and errors

Then it got better
Romance on the mountain trail
Still too much thinking

A great contemporary western. I'm a sucker for cowboys, so this was right up my alley.

I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

Eh... Just eh.

Not horrible, not good. Predictable from the first page, nothing about it really drags you in or makes you feel invested.

Wow just wow although it's not exactly how my life is going but what Melanie felt is without a doubt what I've been feeling and still am. I loved the book!

Loved it!! This book was very well written and loved how it made the characters over come their fears. This was a great romance read.
Jac Zifos
An ok read. Like several other reviewers mentioned it seemed to jump around a bit with no explanation which was a little annoying.
Ali
Sub par. Interesting storyline, but the whole book felt like it was written in less than a week with no editing.

Another quick so-so read. It is exactly what you would expect from reading the synopsis no more no less.
