I really enjoyed this, and it’s definitely an improvement over the last couple of books in the series. Nolan and Eve were a lot of fun together and their romance was engaging and steamy. I loved the snappy dialogue and funny banter between all the characters. Nolan and Eve’s Oktoberfest outing was fantastic...one of the best date scenes that I’ve read.

First can i say a HUGE THANK YOU to Erin McCarthy for giving me the chance to win this ARC!! I LOVED this story and the hottie on the cover was PERFECT in helping me visualise Nolan... *drool*.

Nolan hadn't spent this much time in a frantic lip-lock with a girl since high school. He'd forgotten how exciting it was to just kiss and not skip straight to the good stuff. Kissing his wife had that same feeling as kissing his girlfriend back in the day had. It was worshipful, awed, desperate, wanting more, yet at the same time, wanting the moment to never end. It was kissing with the intensity of knowing that this was really happening, everything you had wanted and desired.

I am pleasantly surprised. I've read a few harsh reviews, mostly criticizing Eve's extreme crabbiness, which turned me off a bit at the beginning. However, Ms. McCarthy turned it around in the end and gave us a believable relationship and two genuinely likeable characters.

Eve Monroe is a PR rep for her two stock-car racer brothers, and she hates her job. She was almost a cariacature of unhappiness at the beginning of the book. Nolan Ford is the jackman on Eve's brother Evan's pit crew, and she takes him to task after an embarrassing incident on the track shows the team in a bad light. He just thinks she is cute and asks her out on a date. When they get together she is surprised that she enjoys herself, because her low self-esteem makes her believe that someone as happy and sunny as he would be interested in a raging bitch like her. They spend some time together, like what they're feeling, and then up and get hitched in Vegas. Of course, someone as anal and controlling as Eve has trouble just going with the flow, so she starts to indulge her doubts while Nolan just floats on Cloud 9 until he lets Eve throw the proverbial wrench into all of their happy.

I went into this book anticipating not liking Eve. She was, as a crew member says, a total battle-ax. However, with Nolan she is able to let loose and give up some of the squeeze that she holds on anything and everything in her life. I found myself sympathizing with her plight - which one of us has never let a bad situation get to our moods? I spied that little spark of humanity in her from the beginning (she recognized that she was extremely unhappy but had no idea how to change her life for the better), and I was happy to see it blossom under Nolan's patient care. I get the sense that Eve would always have that edge, but living in the moment really began her journey to happiness. The story was lacking in that Eve really needed to flesh some things out with her father, who in my opinion seemed to be the source of a lot of her internal struggles.

I didn't get the sense that Nolan grew all that much through the story, but then again he really didn't need it. While his glass-mostly-full viewpoint may have pushed him toward Eve despite her attempts to repel him, it also gave him the drive to find and nourish that part of Eve that she kept so carefully hidden. Nolan would probably have been happy with almost anyone, but it was nice to see that he found someone for whom he was her only soft place to fall.

I am going to get nit-picky because this book seemed to amp up the editing mistakes that had been infrequent in the previous books of the series. Weren't Eve and Evan twins in the first book? Is Kendall's hair blonde or chestnut? Are Nolan's eyes mossy green or brown? That stuff drives me bonkers, and I can't not mention it. Don't get me started on the homophone mistakes. Oy.

Overall this was a satisfying read and better story than book 5 in the series. It would not be the best stand-alone because I probably wouldn't have rooted as hard for Eve's HEA if I wasn't invested in the series.

This was a quick read by the pool. I loved this series and based on the lack of a teaser about the next in the series, it sounds like the author may not continue with it. We get a bit of a Rhett tease, but we are not given enough to really warm to him, so not sure what she'll do. She has a book blurb in the back for a "ghost" story. Read it and won't buy it. Ugh... Definitely a fun book. Eve has been a supporting character in the previous books, where we see her mainly as the uptight grouch who is constantly raining on everyone's parade. This one starts out with Eve chewing out Nolan because of his wardrobe malfunction. As the team PR person, Eve is the one who gets stuck dealing with problems like this and she really hates it. Then she discovers that his laid back attitude makes her feel better about herself. Nolan is an absolute sweetheart of a guy. I loved the way that he understands Eve from the very beginning. He can see that she doesn't know how to relax and let go of her stress and figures that he is the perfect guy to help her do that. He seems to know exactly how to get her to have fun. They had great conversations with her bluntness offset by his sheer delight in everything she said. I loved the way that he actually listened to what she said and treated her far better than even her own family did. Their date at the beer festival was fantastic and showed both of them at their best. I loved the thoughtful things he did for her that always seemed to surprise her - probably because nobody else treated her like that. Nolan was pretty consistent in his behavior throughout the book and I loved the way he was there for her. Eve drove me nuts sometimes with her constantly changing attitude toward Nolan. She had a hard time believing that he actually cared for her and that caused her to do some pretty stupid things, especially at the end. I was glad to see that she finally got her act together at the end. I wish there would be more in this series because I have really enjoyed it. (less)

6th book in the Fast Track series and Eve finally gets her shot. I really enjoyed this book, more so than the last couple of books. Eve is a worrier. A big worrier over everything. She's also a stressed out PR rep for her two car-racer brothers, a job she hates. Nolan is a jackman for one of her brothers and the complete opposite of Eve in temperament. I haven’t read Slow Ride yet (Tuesday’s story that comes right before this one) so I hope she didn’t lose her steam before this one. I’m confused on some things but maybe they are explained in that book. I am wondering if there is supposed to be a Fast Track #7 because it seems to me that Rhett’s story started and didn’t get finished. And it seems to intentionally be a secret so my thought is there better be another book to explain it. (Just looked at McCarthy’s website and it looks like this is an ongoing series but without a future title or release date I can’t put it in my to-read so it’s likely I will not remember to read it – probably out around middle of 2013 based on her previous release schedule) I liked Nolan and Eve together but Nolan didn’t seem all that bright and that’s a turn off for me. I also think a few things are played out. One is the no condom sex. I am VERY happy that Eve didn’t end up pregnant because that would have been very played out but the fact that the first night (second time) he enters her without a condom and neither one of them mentions it’s a bad idea until he’s close to finishing is just not cool really. We find out of course that Nolan has never, ever done that before which makes it more annoying. I guess it’s supposed to seem more special that there isn’t a condom and maybe it is but always very risky especially when Eve isn’t on birth control. I also don’t like the quickie marriage thing. They can fall in love quickly but don’t have them getting married two weeks after dating with knowing very, very little about each other….especially since they are old enough to really, really know better. It’s supposed to be more romantic I guess….it just make it seem all rushed. The tattoos are also over done. Sometimes it seems so sweet even when you know it’s too much but this time it didn’t seem special to me at all….it just seemed silly and unlikely – there wasn’t enough belief in their connection. I didn’t have any held breath moments or anything that made my breath hitch. If it wasn’t part of a series I enjoyed with some of the existing characters in it that I got to see again I might not have even given it three stars. (less)

My Take
This was a fun if slightly uncomfortable read with the uncomfortable due to Eve's personality and the different perspective we get. I do wish McCarthy had gone a little deeper with Nolan's discomfort with Eve's higher income. Although, she did find an easy out with Eve's eventual choice at the end. So, Nolan is on Evan's (Eve's brother) pit crew when an unfortunate pants-splitting-no-underwear situation happens during a race. No surprise with a hottie like Nolan, the footage goes viral.

Eve, even more up-tight and on edge than normal, lights into him for creating a less than PG situation for the team durning a race. Nolan, who has thought she was hot since he joined the team 3 years ago... asks her out.

Like I said, Nolan is just who she needs: Kind, thoughtful, understanding and easy going... Not to mention he realizes he must be a little nuts for thinking Eve's rants are cute.

I kept waiting for the shoe to drop and it did. It wasn't a surprise, but it made sense (because of good writing *g*) but the build up had me waiting for it. Like, Oh, I know XYZ is going to happen...waits...waits...etc. So, good and bad.

The only true complaint I had was the last two paragraphs. I found them to be about as classless as they could get. There's a scene break before them. I highly recommend skipping it and enjoying the HEA where it ends.

Jacked up is a more comedic, Vegas style Dear John. The romance between Nolan and Eve are in the span of only 2 weeks-ish! But those 2 weeks have been very adorable, i should say.

This is the first time I write a review before I'm done with a book, and that is not a good thing. I'm about 2/3 through and hope I can make myself finish it. It is past the point of no return for me and I know that regardless of the ending, this will not change.

b)I have hated the heroine's, being loud-mouthed is one thing but bitchy, that too all the time is just irritating.

Jacked Up is far better than her last outing in which the only thing the heroine did was drink and have sex, this has a plot in a way but it still left me dissatisfied. Eve is the Monroe sister, their PR person and really bitchy, most of it stems from her being unhappy with everything, her job, her life and I and even Nolan the hero questioned why didn't she just change it then? Quit and take chances and maybe pursue the dream of being a driver she left behind. It takes her the entire book to fix what is wrong in her life and stop being a coward.

Nolan the hero is perfect, he is hot, sexy, sweet and understanding and puts up with all of Eve's moods and quirks when I wanted to dump her after the first date. I mean she couldn't be happy about anything, critical of everything. We were made to see that Nolan got her and wanted to "fix" her. Nolan's mom said that he wanted to fix things since he was a small plus his job too was of fixing as a mechanic on Evan's crew and maybe Eve is his new project. He says no that is not the case and continues to put up with her and loves seeing her cut loose, like when she goes racing with him.

Eve was severely repressed, curbing her dreams and that would make anyone unhappy but the thing is she was the one doing it to herself. Nolan throws her a big birthday bash which ends up in them proclaiming their love for each other and getting hitched. Afterwards Eve is like a pendulum sometimes thinking it is the best thing she ever did or wondering what she got herself into. Plus there is the fact that Nolan is kind of from a different social strata than her, which worries him so it is not all honeymoon stage, it is adjusting to each other, major decisions of where to live etc which actually seems scary to her and given the short time they had known each other these fears seemed well founded.

What I disliked was that Nolan makes a big gesture, gets a tattoo of her name and she gives him a post-nup immediately, way to hit a guy sister. She does feel bad about it and makes up for it by making major changes in her life, but I am not sure how these two will work out and if a romance leaves me feeling like this at the end it hasn't really done it's job.(less)

That was just wonderful! I adored Nolan! He was so sweet and wonderful and hot... Eve was great too. I think we all have some of her insecurities and probably bitchy tendencies too. So to see her let loose a little and have a little fun was just a joy. The humor in this book was the best part, well next to the awesome love story! It was wonderful and I loved it - and I want more!

Eve Monroe always wanted to be a race car driver but in her famous racing family girls don’t drive so she settled for a PR job for her brothers. Eve is great at her job but she hates it and is so stressed out she can’t remember the last time she actually talked, not yelled, at someone. That is until she has to chew out her brother’s jackman for accidentally flashing the entire nation on television. Nolan Ford is laid back and doesn’t let anything bother him, the exact opposite of Eve, but when he asks her out she can’t say no.

Nolan Ford didn’t mean for his pants to split but it finally got the hot and sexy Eve Monroe’s attention which he’s been trying to do for the last three years. Eve needs to relax and have some fun and Nolan has made it his mission to get her to do this. Nolan never expected to find such a vulnerable person under all that anger in Eve and as fast as his pants split he’s falling for her. The only problem is how to get Eve to let down her guard and let in the one man who can help turn her life around.

Jacked up is the sixth book in the Fast Track Series by Erin McCarthy and it is by far my favorite. Eve has been in a lot of the previous books and I was so excited we were finally getting her story. I wasn’t sure what to expect from Eve because she hasn’t always been the most likable character but we get to see a very different and vulnerable side to her in Jacked Up. We also get a lot more insight as to why she is so angry and mean all the time.

Nolan Ford is my favorite out of all the men in the Fast Track series and he was so much fun to read about. Nolan rarely has a bad word to say about anything and he is so great at getting Eve to loosen up and have some fun. I really loved the scenes where he could get Eve to think logically and open up. I wasn’t always on board with the decisions these two made but I was cheering for them the entire time.

Eve is a hard ass and is miserable with her life. I get it I really do but at times it did get a little frustrating. She spent so much time being angry and wasting away her life that she almost pushed away the most amazing man ever. There were a few times I wanted to strangle her but luckily she came to her senses at the end. Eve and Nolan may not have everything worked out but they have some smoking hot chemistry and they were really fun together. I really hope that we get to see more of them in future books.

I am not a huge racing fan but I do love reading about these hot drivers, their crews and the women they love. Elle McCarthy is great at writing laugh out loud romance novels that you won’t be able to put down. This book is adorable and I can’t wait to see what happens next on this crazy racing circuit. What a pity this is the last book in these series. I enjoyed this book again very much. The headpersons in this book are strongly written and it is nice to see a different side of Eve. I already knew her from the other books, but in this book we see another side of Eve next to her business side. You don’t have to read the other books in this series, because this book is on itself. But I do recommend reading them, because they are as good and fast as this book.

Lou: The Fast Track series is definitely a must read for contemporary romance fans and for fans of sport romances. Lou: The Fast Track series is definitely a must read for contemporary romance fans and for fans of sport romances. I adored the first two books in the series, and enjoyed the third but skipped the other books after reading the not so great reviews. I’m glad to say that Jacked Up ends the series on a great note. Jacked Up features one of the most adorable and funny heroes, and a heroine with a spunky attitude that doesn’t want to make you slap her. They complimented each other so brilliantly, and I loved that Nolan wasn’t a hotshot race driver, but one of the stock car mechanics. He wasn’t a rich playboy, but your normal average guy who happened to be funny, romantic, and loveable.

MinnChica: I’m a huge fan of sports romance books, so when I first found McCarthy, I was so excited for each and every book in the series. After the 4th book, I was extremely disappointed and skipped the 5th in the series. When I saw that Eve would be the heroine of the 6th and final book in the series, I couldn’t miss the chance to read this one, since I’ve been a big fan of Eve since the beginning. Add in the sexy and hilarious and sweet Nolan, and there were so many things about this book that I absolutely adored! The romance between these two was so incredible, and really carried the story from start to finish.

Lou: I agree that their romance carried the entire story. Their banter and witty remarks kept me entertained throughout. I loved Eve’s no nonsense attitude, but there was a vulnerability in her that Nolan spotted straight away. The way in which he teased her and almost tamed her was so much fun. Eve could be bitchy in her remarks, and Nolan had a way about him that managed to butter up Eve. Eve was miserable in her job, and I couldn’t blame her. Her dream of being a driver never happened and she had to watch her two brothers become successful at what she dreamt of as a child.

MinnChica: I have to say, I adored Nolan a lot more than Eve. He was funny and laid-back and he treated Eve with respect and actually listened to what she wanted, unlike all the other men in her life (her brothers, father, other drivers…) Nolan was head over heels for Eve from the beginning, and he went after her like a dog after a bone, and he did it in a way that wasn’t too Alpha and domineering. Although Eve was obviously miserable, she was a little bit of a downer at times. I was glad when she finally took charge of her life and made some big changes, but I wanted her to quit bitching so much and take action! There were moments when I wanted Nolan to drag her kicking and screaming out of her funk….

Lou: Nolan has to be in the group of my favourite heroes. There needs to be more Nolans in romance books. He was such a nice and sweet guy. The way he treated Eve made my heart melt, and how he teased her and joked with her in the beer festival was hilarious. His superman hold with the beer can and the stuffed cat was great humour. His personality really shone. Eve was such a contrast to him, and yeah at times I wished she would take Nolan at face value and not try and think there was an ulterior motive. I hated the prenup at the end and how she treated Nolan. The ending was so different to the entire book that it brought the grade down for me. As I was reading and saw what was happening, I saw that I was at 70% at my Kindle — and I kept thinking surely you can’t squeeze all this towards the last quarter of the book. It was such a rush job that I felt that it did a disservice to the book.

MinnChica: The ending of this one didn’t work for me at all! It seemed like the conflict with the prenup was rushed in at the very end, and all of a sudden they were apart and back together within the last 20-25% of the book. It seemed, to me, that the conflict and resolution came from left field. I think the book would have been much better without that added in. It really did bring down my reading high at the end, because it was so rushed and felt like it didn’t really add anything additional to the story. However, that was really the ONLY gripe I had about this book. Everything else – the characters, the romance, the moments with Eve and Nolan – were all so well done and made for an enjoyable read.

Lou: Again it comes to one of the most over used plot devices in romance and it’s the forced separation where the hero and heroine need to part before coming back together. This forced separation was not well plotted because it was done within a few pages towards the end. And I’m so annoyed about it because like you it’s my only gripe about the novel. Everything else I loved. I wouldn’t have minded if the story was a little longer to explore Nolan and Eve’s relationship. In fact, I would have welcomed it rather than the abrupt ending. I was glad we saw Eve interacting with her brothers, but my gosh they weren’t exactly the nicest to her. All in all, this book ends the series on a high, but the ending was just…blegh. It has a sexy and sweet romance with a hero that pretty much rules. I give Jacked Up a B-. The B- is for the ending which was a doozy.

MinnChica: I would have liked the book to be a little longer as well, then it wouldn’t have felt as if things were so rushed and jammed together to wrap things up. All in all I really loved this book right up until the very end. Like I said, the romance was so sweet and wonderful. Nolan was the perfect beta hero who supported and stood by Eve, in her good moments and her bad. Eve really grew as a character and got the chance to step out of a life that was slowly killing her and realize just what she wanted and how to get it. I was glad to see the series end on a high note as well, I just wish the end was more flushed out.
I give Jacked Up a B-.(less)

First of all, this is the last book in this series. Eve has made an appearance in all the others & her personality has been the same - bitchy, high strung, wound tight, ect. She did not change her personality in this book. What changes is the right man enters her life & softens her up. They fall in love.

Erin McCarthy is the queen of playful banter. That is evident in this book. That's what makes this book work for me. She takes a bitch & turns her into someone I can relate to ( :)...more

I really wanted to like this book. The chemistry between the hero and heroine was immediate and their verbal sparring was fun to read. But this story was just plain over-plotted. I was excited to get started on the next installment of the Fast Track series because the story is about a jack man instead of a driver. Also, it was about time Eve saw some action. And that cover, just so yummy.

Nolan Ford is the jack man (the crew member who carries the jack over the wall to service the car when it comes in to make a pit stop) for Evan Monroe's team. Well, he had what you would call a "wardrobe malfunction" on pit road when his fire suit split down the back seam. Nolan likes to go commando.

Eve Monroe, sister of stock car drivers Evan and Elec Monroe, and she is the PR Rep for both of them. Her job is to keep everybody happy. When this latest fiasco on the track happens and the video goes viral on YouTube, she can't fix the problem but tries her best to get Nolan to wear underwear.

The story starts out with snappy attitude and dialogue between Nolan and Eve. You can feel the sexual tension between the two of them and at any time it's just going to explode. Nolan's character as a laid-back Southern Boy who has landed his dream job is spot on. He's charming, intelligent, sexy as hell, knows what he wants, all without being arrogant.

Eve on the other hand has issues. She's not happy with her job or where she is at this point in her life. In the garage, the crew call her the "battle-ax". Eve wanted to drive a race car (she was very good at it), just like her brothers, but was told she couldn't because she was a girl and girls don't do that. This eats at her for years till she becomes a snippy bitch. The type of person who when you see coming - you get out of their way.

I made it to page 126. I'm sure Nolan and Eve find their HEA after some hot sexing (there wasn't any up to this point) and a grand misunderstanding, but there was no way I could read any more. Eve's continual ugly "teasing" and "taunting" remarks to Nolan were getting on my last nerve.

BTW, did you know that racecar spelled backwards is racecar!(less)

I was lucky enough to get a copy of this book a few days early at a book signing and I was so excited to read it. The last book in the series is about Evan and Elec's sister Eve and a tasty jackman. Eve gives a whole new meaning to the word "uptight", while Nolan is nothing but funloving. Opposites attract. I love Erin's style of writing and I am really going to miss this series. I was truly looking forward to this book. The snarky sister, Eve, was finally getting her book. Well I could have waited. Book Six? That many already? Hard to believe but I've certainly read all of them.

Erin McCarthy has the ability to take the bitchiest of heroines and make you like them. Let there be no mistake, Eve Monroe is about as bitchy of a heroine as anyone could stand. And yet we can all sympathize with her as the book progresses. I liked the banter. I liked the sex. I liked the story.

I like these strong but sweet men McCarthy writes about :) Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my hot alpha males, but it's kind of refreshing that these men are so nice to the women they love and would do just about anything to make them happy. Glad to see Eve get appreciated by someone finally. I've been waiting a long time to read this book. I adore this series and I hope Erin Mcarthy just keeps writing it till I die. However, this book wasn't my favorite.

Reading the synopsis made me expect Nolan to be this hard-ass who is tough and macho and nothing like the Nolan in the book. He's funny, dorky, and straight up cheery.
