To Be A Superhero by Rachel Yu
Illustrated, very colorful children's book about how to be a superhero.
He invites you into his castle and asks you to take your shoes off.
You have to have an origin, a super power. There are many to choose from.
Some don't have powers but then there is a costume to pick from.
A mask is a good idea and so is a sidekick, like a friend or your dog.
Goes on to help somebody that called for help.

Shelves: superhero, scary
The target audience appears to be middle schoolers. Not how I'd define what makes a superhero - being able to pose for pictures, having a good catch phrase, etc. Scary origin stories & dangerous conflicts which Superior Guy won to bring home bizarre trophies for his display case. Disappointed to discover the character with big hair on the book's cover was a superhero rather than superheroine.

One of my "jumped off the shelf" books this week. It has awesome, graphic novel type illustrations. The writing is very hilarious.
I also learned the author/illustrator is an amazingly talented 15 year old girl!

When read alongside how to be a super villain this will end up being the how to guide for your super hero or super villain to be. Fun reads for those soaring with imagination.

This was adorable thought some of the words were a little big for what is supposed to be a book for 4-8 year old though.
