I unexpectedly liked this book more than I thought I would. Author James V. O'Connor managed to pull me in with a story that deals with work ethics, extramarital affairs and personal integrity.
Ted McCormick, a professional home organizer, thinks he's a happily married man to his beautiful wife, Mary, of 12 years. However, he's caught off guard when he's attracted to one of his female clients, Janet, a single mom who was recently divorced. Janet is fun, attractive and imaginative. She's also intu...more

This was an engaging read. The author caught my interest from the beginning with the character of Ted McCormick. We learn pretty early on that Ted has chosen his modest profession as an escape from some corporate falling out in his past. There is obvious tension in his marriage and his work puts him in some pretty interesting situations.
There are several very intriguing characters in this novel. Mr. Smith, the aging and overbearing man who hires Ted to clean out his father's home is certainly di...more

If you'd asked me to review this book about halfway through, it would have gotten a much lower rating. But it really grew on me by the end. The dialogue was a bit stilted, and the descriptive passages were a bit excessive (I'm all for description when it enhances the story, but it didn't always here). It is in need of some proofreading still, which always kind of annoys me. But the idea was a really unique one, the characters were well drawn out, and the plot twists were unexpected. I'm glad I s...more
I will tell my professional organizer friends that this book is a must-read. How often does an author write a novel in which the main character is a professional organizer? The story is quite well-written and is a pretty quick read. O'Connor did an excellent job of bringing his characters to life. I found myself a bit confused about the "puzzle" the characters were trying to solve, but if you're a fan of mysteries (I'm not), you may really enjoy that whole part of the story. The story definitely...more
The story was good. The struggle this man faced was very real in
a lot of cases.
There was mystery, romance, personal dilemmas, and some action.
Too much time was spent on the intimate thoughts which, I feel
distracted from the story. There was also a brief somewhat sexually
explicit scene. Otherwise, it was a fairly well-written story.

In Another Man’s Treasure author James V. O’Connor tells the story of Ted McCormack, a comfortably married man dealing with the sometimes uncomfortable position of running his own struggling business while his wife takes on the role of bread winner. Ted is a capable, resourceful man and he’s dedicated to his work as a home organizer; he’s a regular guy leading a regular life – at least, until the enigmatic and cantankerous Mr. Smith hires him to find an unspeakably important something within a s...more

My brother wrote this book. It is his first attempt at a novel and I think he did quite well. Of course, other siblings helped edit (not me). I laughed because we know a man like Henry when we were growing up. Jim is pretty clever, funny. I was surprised that he had not inserted more humor. But I found none of the sentences to be jarring -- as I have told him I often found in airplane books of Patterson and Parker. The sex scene, often ridiculous and should not be attempted, was OK. Also, he kep...more
