Roger Langridge is one of my favorite cartoonists but this collection of his older work is a bit uneven... going from great to downright weird. I think some of his New Zealand humor and lingo may have been lost on me at times. Overall this is a good book and a good look at a young cartoonist honing his craft, especially when comparing to Roger's more recent work.

Really liked the circus-centric stories in the beginning of the book. Then, really didn't like the blithely racist stories of "The Kabuki Kid" that followed. Overall, the book started high and slowly went downhill. Too bad.

Good book. Read to my daughter once. Then she read it on her own, without asking. Makes me want to see a circus again.
