This story was too messy for me. The story didn't flow; it was a bumpy read from beginning to end for me. For writing style, I give this a 1 star. I had to re-read passages and then try to figure out what was going on. It felt disjointed for me. It could be that the story is meant to be this way since Leila's mind was in a jumble. She didn't know who she wanted to be with and Matt was no different. Matt's communication skills are that of a teenage boy. He also doesn't say what he means. He says he accepts Leila yet he doesn't really. Leila wants to be a good little girl and settle down. All I can say is, "keep lying to yourself. You are a whore and you like it. You wouldn't know monogamy if it bit you on the ass."

This story was filled with messy relationship entanglements that dragged for me. It's like watching a terrible 50 car pile up with a jackknifed semi and a train derailed. Who knows what the collateral damage will be? I do know that ground zero is Leila. She needs to either decide get rid of the Charlotte persona for good or merge it into herself. Separating it isn't doing a damn thing for her.

I ended up giving this story a 2.5 star out of 5 because I liked the kinky sex factor. I enjoyed the knife play as well as the dominance exuded from Joseph. Joseph is what made the book for me. His naughty behaviour along with his, "you will do what I say" attitude flat out turned me on. He seems to be the only one who knows what he wants. The others are well, children as he calls them. The f/f scene was tasty and I wish there were more. The menage was hot and honestly, if the sex wasn't in this book, it wouldn't be my type of book to read. I don't care for messy relationships and these bloody "games". I like it straight forward. The concept of this book was very good and something I found appealing. The ending of the story is inconclusive as we are waiting for the possible resolution in book two. I did end up classifying this book as BDSM for the light bondage and specifically the knife play. I can't call this sugarkink because of the edge play, but I can say this is BDSM lite and I do mean lite. Recommended for those who like hot messy relationship stories where the main characters are confused and don't know what they want.(less)

          Chairman of the Whored is the first book I’ve read by Ms. Morgan and it won’t be the last. This is a very sensual, sexual and provocative story with characters you’ll question, despise and, eventually, either hate or love. On a scale of 1 – 10 on the erotic romance meter, this is off the chart and in a class by itself. This is a dark erotic tale inhabited by real people I could identify with and in situations that were totally believable to me.
          Leila is funny, fearless, stubborn and very frustrating, as I consider the choice she makes at the end of the story. There’s also more to her than just being sexually adventurous and uninhibited, capable of fulfilling the sexual desires of strange men for the sake of money and saving the ‘family farm’ so to speak. The truth be told, Leila has a sexual bent - a wantonness within her that is set free by her call girl life. After her tryst with Joseph and Gordon, I found it fascinating to watch her struggle with her feelings for both men. Matthew wants her to stop whoring and be his alone. There’d be church bells and rice in their future if he had his way. Joseph is the Chairman of the Whored. He has the power to ruin Matt’s and Leila’s lives. This man has a dark side and it’s all about him – his needs and his desires. He is a decadent user of whores (hence his moniker) and after one night with Leila he wields his knowledge and power to control her. Leila will get the money she needs to fulfill her financial obligation, but her last 3 jobs must be with him. This just intensifies the psychological conflict within Leila. It’s a battle between good and wantonness—Leila vs. Charlotte. The choice - a normal life with Matt or a complicated arrangement with Joseph. It was exciting to read.
          Chairman of the Whored is not a quick read. At least it wasn’t for me. There’s so much sexual, emotional and psychological drama I didn’t want to miss anything. The sex scenes were intense and always character revealing. The plot more than held my interest (though there is coincidental element I felt was a stretch). The characters were three dimensional - very real. My favorite character was Aiden- a friend of Leila and also on occasion a willing and gleeful sexual partner while on the job. He’s compassion and, most importantly and effectively, his humor helped to give this story its realism and needed levity. If you like your erotic romance with an intense, provocative, thought provoking and well developed plot with great characters, this is definitely the story for you. (Copy supplied by author.)(less)

When I first saw this book I was instantly taken by the cover and thought it was quite beautiful and sensual. I had to do a double take on the title but it did grab my attention. After reading the blurb I knew that I had to get it and see what it was all about. Boy was I quite pleased with the whole story and really enjoyed it. Chairman of the Whored by Lucy V. Morgan, my first by this author, is a well written story which has me anxiously waiting for the second book in this series coming in June.

Leila Vaughn is a tax attorney intern by day in a London law firm but by night she is Charlotte, a high-end call girl. She’s trying to pay off her parents’ debts created by her college education and found this solution the best due to her one time affair she had with an older man in college. With only 3 more jobs to do before it is all paid off and done she finds herself uncomfortably meeting her latest clients, her coworker Matt and her boss Joseph. She jumps at the chance at having sex with both of them, one very hot scene, and finds herself oddly attracted to both men. Joseph wants her to quit her job at the escort service and he will buy out the rest of her jobs in order to serve him. This puts Leila in a very precarious position because her night job just ran smack into her day job making it hard to keep her dirty little secret a secret. What you get here is a very complicated love triangle in which Leila now has to figure out what does she really want. The story takes you on her journey to figure out whether she can put away her call girl ways and her alter ego Charlotte and build a monogamous relationship with Matt or continue on doing what she is doing now.

I liked how this story showed me her struggles and growth about how she felt about being a call girl and the wanton side of her personality. Honestly I think she liked being a call girl and encountering all types of characters with her clients and the kinky side of sex, but was a little bit embarrassed to admit that to Matt and even to herself. There are so many layers to this story which totally enriches it to make you wonder if it is even possible for her to have a romantic relationship with Matt. More things are revealed and then there is the attraction she has for her boss, Joseph, The Chairman of the Whored himself. He comes back into the picture, complicating matters even further, when he wants Leila to fulfill her end of the deal and finish working off her jobs.

One of the best things about this story are the secondary characters that work with Leila/Charlotte which lighten the story with their conversations, bantering back and forth insults, but somehow you can tell they truly are real friends to Leila, and are looking out for what’s best for her. Both Aidan and Clemmie add to this story, as well as William her escort service boss and his wedding, which bring on some comic relief.

The many sex scenes that are portrayed in this story, m/f/m and f/f/m ménages, plus a knife play scene at the end, are very hot and shows the sensual and erotic part of the story which definitely made it steamy for me. However the ending kind of left me hanging so I couldn’t give it a full 5 stars but would definite make it a recommendation for anyone who likes British writing of erotica and a journey for a young girl trying to figure out her sexual identity and desires.(less)

Novels that deal with the sex trade tend to be melodramatic. Prostitution is described as a trap from which an essentially innocent heroine needs to be rescued by the man who loves her (the plot of La Dame Aux Camellias), or it is described as the ultimate kink (The Happy Hooker).

This erotic romance with the groan-worthy title avoids the usual clichés while presenting a very traditional triangle: the first-person heroine, Leila, is discovered moonlighting as an upscale escort by her dangerous Alpha Male boss and her brotherly co-worker. Once her secret is out, the boss uses it to secure power over her, while Matt the co-worker offers her a more honest and considerate kind of love. Leila is tempted by each of them in turn. She confides in her best friend Clemmie and her other co-worker (in an escort agency run by a gay man), the flirtatious, bisexual Aidan, and they give her insightful feedback.

Leila, who could have been shown simply as confused or weak-willed, is realistically complex. She is generous enough to save her parents’ business (holiday cottages for rent in an idyllic setting) and to appreciate the various good qualities of her friends, who honestly wish her well. She enjoys tax law as well as the theatricality of sex scenes with Aidan, performed for a paying audience.

Although Leila’s dilemma (private humiliation from the boss vs. good-natured teasing from Matt, his brother and his mates in a rock band and a rugby team) is one of the staples of romance as a genre, the mix of lifestyles and personality types is unusually well-described. Leila has a history and a believable life in southern England. Even specific references to such things as VAT (Value Added Tax, which Leila and her fellow-solicitors must calculate) give the novel realistic texture instead of alienating non-British readers.

Of course, there is self-consciously witty dialogue between Leila and the colourful secondary characters. (Think of Sex and the City with a different set of accents). Groan. But then, Leila herself groans and apologizes, as though to suggest that she is really a literary heroine trapped in a lightweight, popular genre.

There are a lot of sex scenes, and they are predictably varied (mostly het and vanilla with spice notes of menage, lesbian and mild bondage). The sex is well-described, and the imagery creates powerful motifs that run through the whole book: the smell of lilacs as a comforting but overwhelming reminder of the setting of Leila’s childhood, and the metaphorical knives that divide Leila the solicitor from her alter ego, Charlotte the whore. The references to cutting and emotional pain reach a climax in a sex scene which is chilling but restrained, poetic and hypnotic.

This novel seems intended to be the first in a series; not all the loose ends are tied up by the end of this one. The author knows how to structure a novel, and how to involve a reader in the lives of her characters. The complications introduced in this book are worth following in the sequel.

It’s safe to say, it got pretty graphic and intense. However, underneath it all lay a story about a woman trying to find her true identity and figure out where exactly she belongs.

This is the story of Leila, a tax law attorney, and her alter-ego, Charlotte. No she’s not bipolar or anything. Working a second job as an escort, “Charlotte” is the name she uses with her clients. She moonlights as an escort to make a lot of money in a short amount of time to help her parents keep their home. Her parents were on the brink of bankruptcy while helping her through college. She only has three more “jobs” left before she can officially call her whoring days over. However, when she shows up for her next job, her two worlds collide. She is surprised to find her boss, Joseph, and co-worker, Matt awaiting her. As a side note, I would like to state for the record that their threesome scene is incredibly HOT!! **Fans self** Whew! Wow. Okay. I’m good now. Anyway, after that night, her boss, Joseph, offers to hire her for her last three “jobs,” claiming that she’ll put the firm’s reputation at risk if she continues. However, things get more complicated when her attraction to both men start to consume her.

Leila is torn. Matt v Joseph. Leila v Charlotte. Love v Lust. Will she ever find her true self? Matt is her flirty co-worker that she could see herself forming a relationship with. He is actively and openly pursuing Leila after their encounter. To me, Matt was a masochist. He knew what he was getting into when pursuing Leila, but he kept holding on to the hope that she’ll change for him and see the light. Joseph, on the other hand, is her sexy, kinky as hell, boss. He’s got Leila by the balls, so to speak. Her career is in his hands and is using that to control her. However, there’s something about Joseph that ignites all of Leila’s fires. She can’t say no to him, regardless if he’s paying her or not. Each fill a void that Leila never really knew she had. Is she the relationship type or will she continually seek the next kinky encounter?

The journey that Leila embarks is erotic. Decisions are made, hearts are broken, boundaries are blurred and comfort levels are tested. And you know what? I enjoyed every moment of it. It started off a little slow, but when it picked up, it really picked up. I definitely plan on reading the next installment :)(less)

I loved this book! It's set in London and it's about a women who works as a high end call girl at night to help pay her parent's debt and is an attorney by day. These worlds collide when her colleague and boss hire her for the night.

Oh my, what to say about this book. First off, this is pretty stinkin dark. When you start playing with knives and blood during the sexytime- I'm out.

With that said, this is a very well written book. The disturbing content is sure to stick with you for a few days, but it's not so deviant that you can't get passed it while reading. This book confused me. I have never felt so much animosity towards characters in a book I have enjoyed; I honestly felt a bit dirty. This is the way I explained it to a friend. The characters didn’t annoy me; I simply didn’t like them. I can’t read a book where I want to kill the characters because they irritate me, but I didn’t feel this way about these lot. I will do my disclaimers now. For those who care, this book deals with infidelity, edge play, lesbianism, voyeurism, ménage, anal sex, anal play, prostitution, knife play and a whole host of smutty smutty sex. I class this book as erotica and therefore the plot revolves around sex. Still with me? Good, because this book is definitely worth a read.

Someone once told me I had a low expectation of character development in erotica. Well, I got to know the three characters in this one. They were so unbelievably flawed that I was entranced by them. I wanted to find out more about them, work out what made them tick. It was a little disconcerting to know that this twisted side of me exists. Leila was a heroine that didn’t know which way was up. She was a very dirty girl, but she made herself feel better about the choices she made by putting her actions down to Charlotte, her alter-ego. I could understand her, hell I could even slightly relate to her. She enjoyed the down-right dirty things she did in her part-time job, and rarely had to fake an orgasm or arousal, but she thought she was twisted for doing it, so hid behind a mask. I’m not sure I believe that she would have ever given up Charlotte, but that became a null point when the pair of prats stepped foot into her world. I honestly felt sorry for her and I think that the strong author voice that came through the entire novel helped me relate to Leila; we all have secret sides to ourselves that we feel the need to hide from everyone else….hell, I don’t even admit to fondness for smut to my off-line friends but It’s OK on the internet.

These two men were the men you don’t read about in cosmo, that your mamma warns you against. Both of them love her whorish side. One doesn’t want to meet anything other than that side and the other wants to suppress it and change her (unless he wants sex or course). I honestly don’t know which one I disliked more and to be honest, I wanted her to kick both of them to the curb and run away with her sex-scene partner (he is fab!) Joseph has the morals of a snake. He likes to use prostitutes (even whilst attached) and is the one to hatch the plot to hire her to share with Matt. I have absolutely no doubts he went in with the plan to blackmail her into becoming his personal servicer; he just didn’t need to because turns out she likes her second job. I hated the slimy toad but the sex scenes which he initiates were some of the most erotic in the book. I felt dirty for hating him yet finding him so damn arousing in the book; I think I know where Leila was coming from! The thing that annoyed me the most about him was that he only wanted to have the sexual side of her but he was willing to mess with every other aspect of her life for absolutely no reason what so ever. He was a cock.

Matt wasn’t much better. He tried to court her with his eyes open, yet still tried to judge her for her choices and change her. I don’t care if Leila had a foot fetish and liked to have sex whilst dressed as a chicken, no one should be made to feel bad about their preferences. He made my blood boil. There were several parts of the plot I wanted to slap the judgemental little worm, but I could understand her need to feel “normal” and have a “normal” boyfriend. I just hoped to God it wasn’t with him. He hated what she did, yet loved the tricks she picked up along the way. He was contradicting himself constantly throughout their relationships…I guess you could say he hit a nerve.

I hated the two male characters, yet I was so engaged by the female lead I had to keep reading. The sex was off the charts erotic and the plot was so twisty I couldn’t guess what would happen next.

This is my first attempt at writing a review, but I really enjoyed the book and think Lucy V. Morgan is a talented writer. *SPOILER ALERT*

If your are looking for a love story like you've read before, where the heroine is saved from her life of sin by the love of a good man, this is not the book for you. Readers who love dirty workplace sexcapades with uneven power balance will be interested in this book which could best be described as kinky chick-lit. The tone is quirky, irreverent, and whiny. I vacillated between being intrigued at the unfolding events and annoyed by the pretentious witticisms and self-absorption.

I loved this book. I loved the wrangling that went on inside Lelia's head as she tries to pass onto a new stage in her life. Aidan was a great character, and had some of the best lines in the book. I was thrilled to find out there is a sequel on it's way since the ending left me wanting more.
