This second book in the Dreamcatcher series deepens the mystery, building up to the solution we will hopefully see in the third book. In my experience, it is rare to see such a perfect arc of tension across more than one book and, while it may require more understanding and attention to detail than most series, I find it a lot more rewarding as well. BEN IN THE SHADOWS is the second book in the series about werewolves and planeswalkers. The idea behind the story remains just as original as it was in the first book, but the execution not so much.

While the first book had elements of paranormal psychological horror, this second volume veers more into psychological drama. In some ways, it’s a very different sort of story – simply because it’s about two different guys. And there’s beauty in that after tons of series with repetitive set-ups.

Well, no. The theme and a lot of the stages they go through are the same. But the characters and their specific issues just aren’t.
