I didn't buy this book when it was first released, I was way too cool. Besides, I had better things to spend my money on at the time. But when I saw that it was being re-released I bought it immediately. It is a terrific book of photos from the mid 80's Hardcore scene in New York. And it's full of photos of my friends, so it holds a lot of nostalgia for me, especially page 31 and 131.

For those so inclined, my essay about the book and my misbegotten experiences at CB's can be found at Open Letters Monthly:

Hope you enjoy.

Great look into the people and faces that made up the early NY hardcore scene. Some interesting insights by some of the key players of that era. Great photography captured the gritty reality of early 80's NY.

This probably shouldn't count since it's basically a photography book. Cool book though if you can find it.
