I started reading the first book because it was free on my brand new kobo reader. I was excited and I very happy to see that I could download books for free. I should have known better, what you pay is what you get. I got the rest of the series, as the first book was obviously not finished, even though it ended... I hate not finishing books, but I'm struggling this time. The more I read, the harder I find it to go on.

I went thru the last book really quick wanting to get this part of story only because it does start with Caitlin and Caleb being together. They are brought to now 1789 Rome. Caitlin on cloud nine being with Caleb and wanting to have some form of normally for at least a while. Caleb meanwhile is happy to be with Caitlin but deep down is mourning for his son. Sam has made it thru the time travel along with Kyle. Sam is here to help his sister find their father and Kyle well he is Kyle always causi...more
Desired (Book #5 in the Vampire Journals) was another fantastic installment to a wonderful series. Desired has Caitlin in 1789 Paris. She is on a mission to find her father, the Shield and four keys. Caitlin is tired and just wants to spend the rest of her life with Caleb. She thinks that she has found her perfect ending, when someone from Caleb's past shows up and ruins everything. Caitlin decides that she must fulfill her destiny by finding her father. Her brother Sam finds himself in the wood...more
The first 3/4 of this book is nearly identical to Volume 4 except in this case the year is 1789 and they are in Paris instead of Venice. We have Caitlin and Caleb together but Caleb leaving Caitlin after he hears from his wife Sera that his son Jade is alive. Caitlin of course completely overreatcts thinking tha Caleb is still in love with Sera. As a result, she gets her rear in gear and proceeds to attempt to complete her mission. The action does pick up in the last 1/4 of the book as she follo...more
While I like the STORY of this series, the writing style is really getting on my nerves. There is a ton of really forced cliff-hanger chapter endings that are just unnecessary. And I'm sick and tired of Caitlin completely overreacting to every single thing that happens with Caleb and/or Blake. How anyone who has survived centuries could have any patience for her 15 year old girl drama (yes, i know she's older, but she doesn't act it) is beyond me.
All that being said, the story is interesting, an...more

I am on edge waiting for the 6th book to come out now! The first book in the series was not really my cup of tea, but it was cheap and a quick read that kept me busy for about an hour. It wasn't well written, and had a lot of errors, but as each book progressed, the characters became more in depth, the details and imagery gets increasingly better, and the historical elements tied into the novels are great, not only for some background thinking but also for reference to a more full image in your...more
Finished this book last night. One thing I like about the book is that it doesn't rehash everything that happened in the last books in the first chapter, it just dives right in.
While I enjoy the story itself, there are flaws in character development. Caitlin overreacts constantly, complete drama queen. It is rather irritating.
The other thing that gets on my nerves about this entire series is the words. I'm not sure if it's just the e-book version, or if the editor sucks that bad. There were wor...more

Another good addition to the series. The story is continuing with the search for the Shield and Caitlin's father.
Caitlin again travels back in time in search for her father and the ever elusive Shield that will save all Vampires. Caitlin has gone back a couple years to 1789. She finds Caleb and everything seems perfect until Caleb receives a message. Off he goes and Caitlin is left alone and hurting.
Caitlin begins the search again and off on another treasure hunt. Going from beautiful church and...more

I read the first book in this series due to the price, it was only $0.99 on B&N for Ipad. I should have have stopped there and saved myself the cash. The author is re-hashing the story line over and over again. Also, the characters are fickle. Every time something happens it's "the best I've ever known" how can everything out there be the best of your life? This rose is the best smelling rose I have ever smelled, this water is the clearest I've ever seen, this weapon sparkles more than any o...more
It was okay, Caitlin searching for her father with the help of her brother Sam and lover Caleb. It looks like she's found the 2nd key in the four she must collect which will finally bring her face to face with her father whom she does not know but very much wants to meet because both her and brother are the key to helping their race. But meanwhile Kyle the bad vamp is on their trail trying to intercept to kill them. This story was just okay because I felt that Caitlin and her brother were making...more
I really love this story/series. It is a unique take on vampire fiction. I love how the story incorporates actual history and takes place all over. The reason that I am giving it only a 3 star is that I really am not a huge fan of the author's writing style. I feel like Morgan Rice is very repetitive and her descriptions all sound the same. I feel like I am reading the same thing over and over again. Like there is nothing new. Every Castle is described pretty much the same. Overall, I would reco...more
I'm personally not really a fan of Morgan rice but to be honest I can't stop reading the series. Her story lines are bad. Her writings even worst. It's full of contradictions and her continuous use of the same phrases drives me insane but with that being said its good quality work for the short book that your given. All of her books in this series are side books. There time fillers for when I have nothing to do. The books are not to bad. It does captivate you but that's only If your able to get...more
