I read this book just before Christmas of 2012 and I was transformed. This is the first book I read from Max Lucado and it certainly won't be my last. This book presents the different characters involved in the birth of Jesus - the shepherds, the three wise men, Joseph, Mary, etc. The author relates the story rough each of their eyes and how they must have felt at the arrival of this baby that slept before them who would be the living sacrifice in order to redeem us from eternal damnation. I was familiar with Lucado's picture books for children, which I love, but I didn't know that he also wrote commentary for adults. I really enjoyed his short, essay thoughts on Christ's birth. A great Christmas read, illustrated with beautiful photographs. A quick, Christmas thought provoker.

Great little book we used for family devotions. Very short 2-3 page chapters that talks about what it means that Jesus came to earth as a baby and why we celebrate Christmas
