A short but sweet little book in the vein of Georgette Heyer (although no one can do it quite as well as she did!). This is a charming little story with several very likeable characters who unfortunately never get the chance to develop fully. The book seems to gallop to a conclusion and I felt it could have actually been better if it had been longer. However it was still an enjoyable and entertaining read.

A very cute novella about childhood friends becoming something more, set in Regency England.

It's nothing we haven't seen before but I guess what made it fun to read was Phillip, the hero. It certainly can't be Francesca, who had me rolling my eyeballs with her vehement denials. I get that Regency ladies were expected to be modest and un-scandalous but really, does she need to keep up the act in her internal monologue? No harm in drooling inside, Fran.

I empathised with Francesca's desire to exper...more

I found A Delightful Arrangement when I was browsing through the free books in the Kobo store, and didn't realise that it was in fact a novella.

I don't read a lot of romance novels; I'm fine with a story that contains a romance, but out-and-out romance isn't really my cup of tea. I was pleasantly surprised with A Delightful Arrangement. Having read a lot of Austen, I was perfectly comfortable with the Regency setting, although Gray's main male character, Philip, was a bit racier than Mr Darcy or...more

An absolutely delightful historical romance novella, A Delightful Arrangement was a lovely read. I really liked this sweet romance. It was quick, light, and an truly enjoyable read.

Both characters were great. Francesca wanted a taste of freedom after spending 3 Seasons in mourning, but also knew to hold on tight when she realized that the man she loved was, in fact, her fiance. Philip was wonderful. A sweet, honorable man, he was determined to prove that he could make Francesca happy. They were...more

I received this book as an ARC.

Lady Francesca Warrington is coming out of a three year mourning of the her mother's death. She excepts to have at least one season that was not granted her during her three years of mourning. As she is coming out of her morning she finds out that is already engaged to the neighbor's son, her mother's best friend's son, and her best friend, Phillip. Franny is so upset cause no one told her this until the very last day of her mourning and she thought she was going t...more

I found A Delightful Arrangement to be very charming! I love regency romance books and this one was full of romance and fun as well! The characters were interesting and the story pulled me in right away! Francesca and her determination to find a swoon-worthy man made for a great story! I loved Phillip and his obvious care for Francesca! Too bad Francesca can't see or admit to what is right in front of her! Although this is a novella, I never once felt that I didn't know enough about the characte...more

In the spirit of Georgette Heyer, this delightful regency romp offers a humorous and heartwarming tale of Boy Next Door romance. It's a shorter piece, but the story and characters are given full attention. I had a good time with it as the heroine sets out intrepidly into high society London to find a man to make her swoon all the while that man may be closer than she thinks.

Francesca, recently out of mourning for her dear mother, is brought up short when her father informs her that she is to be...more

I got this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

this is the very first historical fiction book that I have read, and I have to say that it wasn't bad.

This story is about 2 childhood friends. Phillip was to be married to Francesca a.k.a Franny. Franny Had no idea about this arrangement. She was finally done morning over her mother, and was ready to mingle and start her own family. The only problem was that her father had told her about the arraignment. She was not happy. Phill...more

This was the first book I was accepted for on Netgalley and I was so excited to start this one!

I really like the covers on this whole series they are so simple and colorful and really draw your eyes to them.

When it comes to historical fiction books its usually hit or miss with me. I like to believe that I am a history buff and I expect my books that I read to be historically sound. With that being said this historical book has little to do with historical events which is great for me because I d...more

This was a middle of the road novella. It was a cute story but I wasn't really affected by it. I would recommend this as a sweet read for a rainy day.

Note: I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

A Delightful Arrangement was very hard to put down. I was actually sad to see it end. It had laughter, romance, and lots of stubbornness – a great trio of characteristics. Both of the main characters are very relatable and play off each other very well. Francesca is stubborn and romantic. Phillip, being Francesca’s childhood playmate/best friend, is loyal, loving, but just as stubborn as Francesca...more

4.5/5 Stars!

A Delightful Arrangement is a sweet historical romance that really captures your attention from the first page.

I love Francesca and Phillip! They are such a sweet duo. I could read about them for days and never tire of them. Their relationship makes me swoon. Francesca, or Franny, as Phillip calls her is very insecure. It's obvious in her demeanor. She grew up with an extremely sick mother and a domineering, harsh father and is forced into a marriage sh...more

A short story, regency romance with sensual sex.

As is normal for short stories the plot is simple.

The H/h have known each other since they were young. One day, the heroine is told that she is to marry her childhood friend, a man she thinks of as a brother. She always wanted a season, but the death of her mother three years earlier prevented her having one

(Fact check: I thought the mouring period for a parent was one year. Mourning for a spouse is two years. So why three years would keep her fro...more

I’m not normally a novella fan, but I’ve been short of time recently so have found myself reading more than normal. A DELIGHTFUL ARRANGEMENT is a light-hearted and dare I say, it ‘delightful’ romance.

The story sucks you in and whirls you away immediately. The main characters are fun, endearing and adorable. I actually wished the story had been longer because I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Francesca’s determination to find a man who makes her swoon, is as humorous as Ph...more

I didn't notice how short this story was until I was reading it for the first time and got through a quarter of it in a few minutes of pre-bed reading. This would have been a very fun and enjoyable story if it had been fleshed out into full-length. As it stands, it just feels like a bit of a tease. If you do like your stories to be bite-size this would be perfect for you. It's very good, I just felt it was incomplete.

I read this in one sitting. It was good and steamy, but not very descriptive. Phillip and Francesca story was good. Phillip has a duty to marry Francesca. He had no idea her would really fall for her. Francesca always did what she was told eventhough her father was horrible. This is her first season and she has every intention of making it a memoraable one. This could have been so much better.

This was really cute. I adored Philip. Our heroine thought she was always viewed as a duty, but he sure changed her mind! How he slowly showed affection without it being overtly sexual was so nice to see. It was a great way to spend an evening. I liken this story to a cup of hot chocolate: uncomplicated, sweet, and warm. I have grown to love novellas, but I enjoyed this story enough that I wished it was longer. 4.5 stars.

This was a sweet and romantic story. Phillip and Francesca have been friends most of their lives, but when Francesca finds out she is betrothed to him all she wants is a chance at finding love instead of marrying for duty. It was sweet seeing these two friends evolve into something more. I would read more from this author.

Wonderful short story!! Couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Loved the characters and playful dialogue. Can't wait to read the next book.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review via NETGALLEY.

These books are like a Snickers bar...a satisfying snack for the romantic's sweet tooth. I highly recommend them.

I have a soft spot for stories that have the H/H transit from childhood friends to lovers. It's just such a great foundation for, what? A marriage of convenience, of course! Which coincidentally, fits in my next favourite plot line.

Philip, the ever charming rake and dear Franny (not a fan of that name) do make the perfect couple.

Love the whole wager arrangement that Philip had going that came 'round to bite his arse.

Sweet and most pitifully short. But i guess that's the beauty of short novels. T...more

I really enjoyed this novella. The characters are lovely, Phillip and Francesca are both very likeable and make a good couple. They have been friends since childhood but Francesca doesn't realise that the two families are expecting them to marry. Phillip is happy about this as he has always seen it as his duty to look after Francesca, however she is not happy with settling for marrying someone who sees it as a duty and wants to find a man who will make her swoon. Will Phillip be able to make her...more

I LOVE Cecilia Gray. And I love the cover of this book. I was thrilled to get this book and couldn't wait to start reading.

Since it's very very very short, reading didn't take long. And it wasn't as good as her other books, which I LOVED. Did I mention I LOVED them?

This one is just too short....you just kinda get into the story and it's done. Of course a happy ending, and not really long enough to detour, so just pretty much straight line to the happy ending. When I got to the end I really want...more

I found this as a freebie, and very much enjoyed it. Francesca's is informed by her father that her marriage has been arranged to her lifelong friend Phillip but she agrees with him that she can have a season in London and if she finds somebody who makes her swoon he'll release her from their engagement.

Phillip has always known that he would make the marriage to Francesca that their families expected but will she ever come to love him?

Main criticism of this is that it's too short! Could have don...more

Cecilia Gray lives in the San Francisco Bay Area where she reads, writes and breaks for food. She also pens her biographies in the third person. Like this. As if to trick you into thinking someone else wrote it because she is important. Alas, this is not the case.

She’s rather enamored of being contacted by readers and hopes you’ll oblige.
