This story works on two levels, and I absolutely love how Lydia made that work. Even though the setup and what was going on was very clear to me from the first page, the story was absolutely fascinating in the way that Danny managed to achieve his goal. Maybe the fact he didn’t ‘get it’ until the very end made it even better, I am not sure. The careful conversation, the reveal of what is now his past and what he is about to do all contributed to the tension and ultimate relief at the ending.

Yes, I knew what the outcome would be right at the beginning but that did not diminish my enjoyment of the journey to finally reach it. Lovely.

This is a REALLY good short story about the power of connection with another person in what might be a time of crisis. You never know the affect you might have on another life just by being in the right place at the right time.
