4.5. I was so excited to get to this book and I'm even more excited This series continues to be oh so good! Anderson's writing is great and I love the way that she set up the book. There's a lot of action in the book but you feel like you are really getting a fuller story than just an arc surrounding one event. This is the kind of book that captivates you for hours. This is also the kind of book that makes me wish that my hour commute was just a little longer so I could read a little bit more. T...more
This addition to Marina’s Tales, picks up right where book 2 finishes off. Again we find Marina understanding more and more about her special abilities, and how she helps her friends find their way and achieve their dreams. Marina travels to Paris in this book to meet the council of women who share her muse abilities, but they also have questions about how far her mermaid powers extend. All of my favorite characters have a part in this book, with Evie meddling and causing more complications for...more
In this third and thrilling installment of Marina's Tales, Marina has recuperated from her kidnapping and is enjoying her time with her boyfriend, Ethan. They and their friends are getting ready for prom and high school graduation. Things are going well, except for the confusing visions Marina is experiencing.
After graduation, Marina is to fly to Paris and meet with the council. Being a hybrid, half mermaid and half human, she has gifts that not many, if any, have. She's scared of the imminent t...more

Wow! just Wow!!! You know that feeling when you're reading a good book and its getting better and better and then you have to stop and you look up and like 3 hours has passed, and all your limbs feel all jittery and anxious and excited? That's how I felt while reading the Fate of The Muse. To say this was a good book would be a COMPLETE UNDERSTATEMENT!!! I was scared and nervous and happy and giddy and angry and annoyed all at the same time. The wave of emotions tumbling around me felt just like...more

Marina’s Tales Book Three
By Derrolyn Anderson
Marina has begun to believe the people who were after her and kidnapped her have given up; all she has to worry about now is her visit with the Muse Council. Now that she knows what she truly is she must also come to terms with her new powers, since she is the only one of her kind that is not as easy as it may seem. It seems her influence on people is so strong that the people around her start to do and become incredible things, t...more

I’ve completely fallen head over heels in love with the Marina’s Tales series by Derrolyn Anderson! After reading The Moon and the Tide, which is book 2 in May I knew I was hooked to Marina and all that was happening in her life!

The Fate of the Muse is the third book in the Marina's Tales series and sees all of the people around Marina becoming successful in fulfilling their hopes and dreams whilst she is still uncertain about herself and what she should do once she graduates high school. Marina is unsettled as she is nervous about attending the council meeting held by Muses who are intrigued by Marina's powers and are possibly going to decide her fate. Although Marina tries to focus on her relationship with Ethan, jeal...more
I don’t think it’s possible for me to NOT enjoy this series. Like I’ve mentioned in my previous reviews, this series is highly addictive. However, the third installment wasn’t as great as the first two. There’s A LOT of things that happen in this one; and things change, for better or worse.
First, Marina and her group of friends graduate high-school. Cruz moves out to SF for design school, Megan is busy with her newfound fame (#1 hit single), and Shayla’s career as a model takes off. Therefore,...more

When I read the first book in Derrolyn Anderson's "Marina's Tales" series, "Between the Land and the Sea", I was completely blown away- the book was everything that I had hoped for. While the next book, "The Moon and the Tide", did have everything that I had liked from the original book, a captivating and fast-paced storyline, likeable characters, and whatnot, I did find myself growing frustrated at the turn Marina and Ethan's relationship took.

This next chapter of Marina's Tales is just as exciting and enthralling as the first two. The author sucks you back into the world of mermaids, young love and evil plots. Marina is still the same bouncy teenager who is faced with fantastical forces pulling on her with only Ethan as a rock to ground her. Ethan is a strong character, though a bit silent. I was happy to see him get a stronger voice in this book. Their love is sweet, but still rocked with the natural problems on young love. The side...more
For some reason, this book dragged on at a much slower pace than the first two. I loved the first two, and couldn't wait for this book... but it seems like Derrolyn is dragging it all out so that she can have 4 books? I dunno. To be fair, I did love the end action scenes and the sweet romantic moments between Marina and Ethan. I'd be interested to see if the next book revolves around them marrying (sort of like Breaking Dawn). While this book wasn't my favorite of the three... I have still grown...more
I really enjoyed this book of the series. The first two were just a bit better for me (not sure why) but this one kept the pace going and has me very interested in reading the ending of the entire story. The reader learns more about Marina and her place in the world, and a little more about mermaids (though we don't see her visit the council again). I enjoyed the relationship development between Marina and Ethan. I LOVE that this book series has avoided inserting a love triangle. I really don't...more

Marina’s near exposure in Greece caught the attention of the Council of hybrid mermaids. Yes, half-human half-mermaid hybrids have councils too. But this is not necessarily a good thing for Marina. In fact, because of the accident that led Marina to turning into a mermaid in order to save the people from the accident (her father included), she accidentally exposed herself as a mermaid. This, of course, got the attention of the media, an...more

I have really enjoyed the Marina's Tales series, loving its humor, sweet love story, light-heartedness, and plot twists. As far as main characters go, Marina is not one of my favorites. I like Marina for her loyalty to her friends and family, and to the mermaids. I don't like her stubbornness and tendency to make bad decisions. She keeps secrets from her boyfriend, Ethan, secrets which ultimately put her life in jeopardy. And she takes a long time to learn her lesson about that, but she finally...more
First off, if you haven't read any of the Marina's Tales series, make sure you check them out. I have reviews of Between the Land and the Sea (book one) and The Moon and the Tide (book two). I've said before, and I'll say it again. I want to be a mermaid.
What I Liked: 1) The plotline. We got back to the plot pacing that I had enjoyed in the first book, but missed in the second. It was very smooth flowing, and didn't jump around at all. 2) Ah, Cruz. I heart you and want to be best friends. Please...more

This was another good installment of the Marina's Tales series. 3.5 stars. I think I'm ready for a good conclusion now though. This book wasn't my favorite of the three, but it was still good. This book felt like stretching things out- same kinds of events, different settings or people involved. I'm looking forward to a climactic conclusion and maybe a happily ever after?

I love, love, LOVE Marina's Tales! This is the third book in the series, and hopefully not the last. The first one, Marina has moved to live with her aunt and cousin after her Dad is going to Afghanistan. She does not expect to fall in love, find out she is a mermaid and have a life-changing decision to make - well, who does?
In the second book, Marina's boyfriend's ex has turns up, and of what she thought had been the end of her mermaid-life is gradually coming back to her. In this book, Marina...more

“Ethan, I’m scared,” I whispered, right before drifting off myself.
Marina’s Tales is a series that just keeps getting better and better with each installment. I thought book 1 and 2 were great, book 3 completely took my breath away! The amount of suspense Derrolyn has been adding to the Marina’s Tales has been amazing! The Fate of the Muse kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end and left me dying to find out what’s in store for Marina next!

This series is like crack. I don't particularly like Marina, I find her more and more annoying as the series progresses, yet I keep wanting to read. The mermaids are such a draw: carefree and wild, without a thought of anything but the present moment.
This book was less about the mermaids than the others, and more about the consequences of Marina's action from book #2. It still manages to be a complete story that was easy to pick up and catch up to, even though I read the second one a few months...more

I loved the continuation of this tale. It picks right up where Book 2 left off without skipping a beat. The Prologue really intrigued me, and I found myself trying to piece together the tale as I kept turning the pages. Though it wasn't quite as action packed as the first two books in the series, I still get lost in the story. I find myself getting to know Marina better, seeing her develop as a young soul with abilities she doesn't quite understand. It reminds me of what we all go through as wom...more
Though it took me forever to finish thanks to my scatterbrained thought process, I found the time at last! Anderson once again takes us on a wild ride out to sea. Marina and Ethan work through and struggle with realistic issues in a surprisingly realistic mermaid tale. This one might be my favorite so far, with the promise of action and more romance and mermaids and muses than ever. As the world becomes larger for the cast of characters so too are the dangers. Prepare yourself to be swept along...more
Just as the first two books, this one was amazing!
When we heard there was going to be a book number four we were ecstatic. The story line was exciting and you never knew what was going to happen. A real nail biter. Marinas "powers" evolve and it makes her very insecure. She constantly wonders weather she is good or bad and if she´s to blame for all the bad things happening around her. Because of these insecurities she keeps a lot of stuff bundled up inside her.
