I have been chomping at the bit for over a week now to gush over Tish Thawer’s newest release, Blood of a Red Rose. If you have not read the story from the beginning (which I highly recommend) then you really should pick up Scent of a White Rose (Book One) ASAP and become enthralled with Tish’s take on the vampire world. Then move quickly move on to book 1.5, Roses and Thorns to gain more insight into the main characters seemingly storybook like romance.

The sequel in the Rose Trilogy starts off just as it ended: fierce, fast-paced, and twisted. Rose, as quirky and head-strong as ever, is left to deal with the task of coping with and accepting what she had done, and working out the aftermath - and dealing with what it revealed. The first few pages leave the reader caught up in Rose's world, dying to know what she is going to do with the secret locked within her blood and threatening her very nature. In spite of the inner conflicts seen in the first novel, it suddenly seems that disproving the belief that she was untouchably innocent and proving her strength and independence are the last things she needs to be worrying about. Instead, she's faced with her own shocking darkness - and vampires aren't quite so scary anymore. Except, of course, the possibility that if they found out her secret that they might rally to end her (and the threat she poses) the old fashion way: avoiding poison and ditching the fangs.

The boldness of the characters and their story seems to be a successful theme throughout the Rose Trilogy, and the fierce ultimatum between love and life were a creative addition. Choose one, and she just may lose both. The entire twist on what seemed to be heading for a wrapped up, happy ending in the last book is brilliant. As a reader, I was certainly willing to trade a little torture for more time with swoon-worthy Christian and his two-sided red Rose. ;)

The whole idea of, What do you do if by being with the love of your life, you could throw them into madness and eternal darkness? is just fascinating. And, of course, this easily five-of-five-star read executed the concept beautifully. Between going into hiding, attempting to avoid the father searching for her while dying to see him, being hunted by an enemy subconciously assumed neutralized, and trying to figure out the relationship of her nature and her boyfriend being a maybe-Sire, it's definitely not difficult to sympathize with Rose. Knowing super-passionate, completely trusting, sexy, misinformed, and in-love Christian feels so strongly for Rose while being at risk of drifting is completely maddening! Expecially amongst constant disputes, confusion, and edge-of-your seat anticipation. The character development continues to unravel, and is done exceptionally well. The multiple points of view were as efficient as in the first book, helping to drag the reader into a 360: the dramatic irony of varying motives, who's alive, what their plans are, and still being completely surprised at what plays out. All of the untied ends the prior book left exposed were quickly revisited and flowing again in the first few chapters, and it isn't long before the reader can catch up and fall into the novel.

The entire novel flew by. It was a surprisingly quick read: well-written, fast-paced, and completely engrossing. When the reader is convinced one end would come, another completely spun it into a tantalizing whirlwind, followed by the punch of an insane cliff-hanger that stays with you, although the book itself is entertaining, riveting, and fast. The revealed truths behind the privously unexplaind were shocking, while other sub-plots exploded on the sides. The pressure of anticipation built all the way to the last sentence, and the ending was incredibly surprising and terrible and beautifully sweet (and yes, that is absolutely a concurrent effect). The emotions of the characters, even when angry and unfounded, were written so well they felt very real and valid -- and both the twists and revealed answers throughout the piece were insanely clever (and in Terrance's case, just plain endearing) in their complex simplicity - which, in my opinion, has always been a sign of a great storyteller. I absolutely cannot wait to see what becomes of the main characters, and there is some seriously amazing things in-store for the next book.

I loved this!! It's highly recommended for fans of Evernight by Claudia Gray, Fate Fixed Fate Fixed by Bonnie Erina Wheeler, The Vampire Academy by Rachelle Mead, and The Vampire Kisses Series by Ellen Schribner. (less)

Tish Thawer has a brilliant mind for plot planning and storyweaving, putting a spin on just about anything and from every perspective. Her writing is clean and precise , attention to detail is phenomenal.

What I loved about this book is that I got mad at the characters, got sad for them ,my heart raced and paced with the final climax. Blood of a Red Rose takes place about 4 months after Scent of a White Rose. And again we see the story through multiple first person narratives. I've not read many authors that use this style of writing but it works when it's written well and Tish does a great job at keeping each characters' voice separate. Also the use of the multiple narratives gives the story a more "rounder" feel to it.

This trilogy is enjoyable and has a very gripping storyline, however there are a couple of things I just don't like. I am not a fan of the narrative changing points of view. Every two or three pages the story is from another character's point of view. In my opinion it stops the flow of the narrative. I also haven't found the characters to be well rounded. There is no conclusion or ending to books 1 or 2, the story just stops on a cliff hanger. Other trilogies and series have managed to have some...more

This book was way to short! But seriously, I loved it. I can't wait for the third book to come out already! I have to know what happens between Christian and Rose.
I loved the character development in this book, especially Rose. Christian and Evie were interesting too. I was sad that Jillian was mostly absent in this book.
The storyline was smooth and I read it quickly. I was less of a fan of all the P.O.V.'s, but I liked Christian and Roses.

I want to state that Blood of a Red Rose, is the perfect name for this novel! In Blood of a Red Rose there was, well much more blood, and I got to say I am not complaining at all, I loved the extra bloody scenes! Anyways, this novel was a perfect sequel to Scent of a White Rose! I don’t know how Tish did it, but she was able to keep my attention just as much, if not even more in this second installment! While in Scent of a White Rose you learn about the vampire side of things, in Blood of a Red Rose you are learning about the demon side of things.

On top of learning more about demons, we also get to go inside the mind of a few demons and see things from their point of view! I love how Blood of a Red Rose will switch point of views just like Scent of a White Rose, how Tish can switch to multiple point of views throughout her novels just baffles me! I have read a few Alternating POV books, but books where it flips to more than just two characters is a first for me, and I loved it! In Blood of a Red Rose I felt like I knew the characters even more than before, while the romance was a bit tense between Rose and Christian it was still beautiful and heart wrenching!

All in all, if you enjoyed Scent of a White Rose, then Blood of a Red Rose will NOT disappoint! This sequel was even more epic than the first, there were more secrets, more love, more blood and more everything! If you read Scent of a White Rose, you need to pick up Blood of a Red Rose as soon as possible!

As soon as I finished Thawer's series opener, Scent of a White Rose, I couldn't wait until I would get the chance to check out the second installment in her trilogy. After meeting her wonderful characters and being introduced to this unique and interesting world Thawer created, I had to know what would happen to them next. Secrets were revealed, surprises and shocking twists were thrown at readers at all possible times, and this novel was definitely not lacking in suspense.

Secrets were revealed, surprises and shocking twists were thrown at readers at all possible times, and this novel was definitely not lacking in suspense.

I was also relieved and excited to find that Thawer's gift for fast paced writing and flowing dialogue continued on in her second installment. I literally flew through this title, finding myself finishing it all in one day! It was addicting and I think readers will find themselves hooked and unable to close their books until the last page has been read. And what a last page it was! Some may feel differently but one of my favorite aspects of Thawer's writing and this series in general is that she varies her narrators. I love getting the chance to hear from each of the main character's points of view. Readers get a full compass of everything that's going on and how each character feels and views the goings on around them. It makes me feel like nothing is left out and nothing is held back.

The various narrators also keeps things exciting in my opinion. There's never a dull moment because even when the action slows down at points, it's at these moments where Thawer lets her readers get a glimpse into how her characters are reflecting on everything that's happening. I found myself just as anxious to read how certain people were feeling as well as finding out what would happen next. Thawer is definitely not one to leave her readers complacent and comfortable. She throws wrenches into her characters' well thought out plans left and right. There is no lull in the action and at times I could attempt to tamper down my frustration at all these characters were going through. It was exciting to say the least.

Now that Thawer has left her readers with another doozy of a cliffhanger to wrap this second installment up with, I'm once again craving the next book. Not sure when readers will be able to plan on seeing the third and final installment hit the shelves in this exciting series, but you can be sure that as soon as I find out the countdown will begin and I can't wait! Be sure to pick up your copies of this installment when it hits bookstores' shelves, tomorrow, May 8th!(less)

I love books with the pov's of all characters, I like knowing what each character is thinking and feeling. Trish leaves nothing unturned in Blood of a Red Rose and just when you think you may have it figured out..YOU DONT!!

Just when you think you know where the story of Rose and Christian is going, author Tish Thawer adds several twists and turns to the storyline for book two of the Rose Trilogy. Actually, I love when an author puts in surprises which takes the reader to a place they hadn't even considered.
