I've been pouring through the Twisted Fairy Tales: Volume Two anthology, which came into being through the hard work and fierce determination of my darling Isabelle Rose. My favorites so far are "Pru and the Gunslinger", by L.M. Magalas (a Wild West retelling of Rumpelstiltskin), "Gretel", by Ashley Hendricks (haunting, aching, beautiful prose) "Soul of the Ocean", by Rachel Ayers (mystic, compelling, perfectly-crafted - forget Disney's Little Mermaid), and "Plain Sister Pretty" by Heather Whitt...more
