I love hearing about the various lifestyles that people choose to live and this book provided a glimpse into a completely different world than where I reside. Voices in the Pines is a combination of stories that have been passed down through the generations and interviews with current residents of the Pine Barrons. The efforts that are being made to preserve the Pine Barrons is commendable and will be appreciated by future generations. I have an entirely different perception of New Jersey than I...more

This book preserves the unique voices of the people who proudly call themselves 'Pineys' They are a culture unique with their own music, history, and ways. As the world presses into their world, we are in danger of losing this culture. Karen F. Riley brings these unique and interesting voice and story to light with her usual talent. Enjoy the read!
