John knows that at best he can be described as a male escort and at worst as a whore, but it's what he does and he's good at it. He sells his body and his clients come with fangs so it's more about blood than sex. Hiding behind a false smile and his acting skills is the only way he survives, but when he meets one of his latest clients, Michael, his professional detachment...more

This was a really quick read and I loved it,one wish would be I wanted more!!!!I try not to read shorts or novella because if you really like them the ending comes way too fast.
This was a free read although it's not one of those that I would have been mad if I paid for it.
Great story.

Re-read

I loved this story as much this time as I did the first time but this time there is more there is a sequel!!! *VBG*
The blurb says it all but I would like to add I thought the chemistry between Michael and Joh...more

This was a quick little story with interesting development.

(view spoiler)[The story begins with John as the average male escort, catering not only to sexual pleasure but vampiric one as well. It's not something he chose but was forced into, and after a number of years, he's as addicted to it as the vampires are. But then the situation changes. John was actually sent to take care of the vampires. At first, I thought the flame was a metaphorical sense of his cleansing when in fact it was actual fi...more

This excellent short story plays on the vampire theme but with an added twist which set it apart from the usual paranormal stories. John is a male whore whose company sends him out to supply blood and often sex to vampires. He arrives at the house and meets the three vampires he’s going to feed but his eye is immediately caught by Michael who actually treats John like a person rather than a body/food.

I’ve been a bit vague in my summary he...more

In book 1 of The Soul Readers series we are introduced to John, he is a male escort of sorts providing various services to Vampires. In actuality John is a Soul Reader using his power as judge, jury and executioner on the unsuspecting Vampires.

When John meets the brooding, standoffish and charasmatic Vampire Michael his powers take a backseat to what he feels in his heart.

I downloaded this book as a free download and was pleasantly surprised with the story. It is for all intents and purposes a...more

What happens when a vampire's soul is read by a professional Soul Reader and nothing happens? You wing it! John McElroy faces this problem when he encounters a vampire named Michael in 'Forgotten Soul' by Tasha D-Drake.

This is a terrific short story; well written and unique. The characters were developed so well that I became emotionally attached to both of them very quickly. There is a strong connection between the two men right from the start. This unusually strong chemistry provides some very...more

Yeah, my first thought was "oh god, am I really going to read a vampire novel?" but hey, it was free on Amazon and its a light novella and I'm desperate for a MM romance fix.

And, well, I was very pleasantly surprised. Granted, this is my first vampire m/m book that I've read in English, so I don't have much to compare it to - other than that one horrific night that I actually decided to sit through the first twilight movie...(so far, the vampires in this haven't twinkled). I found the story fun...more

For a short story only 34 pages long, I'd say this was pretty well written. The characters were well fleshed out with the amount of time they were given, and the twist at the end was something I didn't see coming.

My only complaint would be that it's a tad too short. If it had been just a little bit longer maybe more character development could have been put into the story.

The two leads had pretty good chemistry as well, actually having conversations with one another and not just seeming like l...more

For a short story, this premise was quite good. John is a blood whore who sells his body and his blood to vampires. He is very good at what he does. After meeting with three new clients and meeting Michael, everything changes. This was a good story with some unexpected twists. I am interested in reading the next book in this series. I always enjoy and appreciate when authors offer short stories as free downloads for readers - it usually does a great job reeling me into buying other books in the...more

Absolutely stunning piece of work in just 28 short pages. ORIGINAL, interesting, exciting, different vampire fiction.

I could hear the characters talk in my head, could see and even smell the rooms they were in, and a river of goose bumps came up on my skin, shivers and all, at the ending of the one sex scene in the story. The plot twist? Lovely!

Will be waiting with bated breath to buy and read the next installment of John and Michael's story. Highly recommended, delivers a powerful punch in a ve...more

read this novella awhile ago, but i remember really enjoying it. this guy has this special power that "cleanses" vamps. basically kills them. he acts as an escort and that's how he encounters these vamps. well, on one such job he meets a vamp he can't "cleanse" or should i say one he doesn't want to cleanse. he ends up falling for the vamp and the vamp for him. nice little story huh. hehe

I was really surprised how good this was! Just the right amount of sex, emotional turmoil, connection, confrontation, and resolutions. Im glad this little series continues with Forbidden Soul, so I can follow John and Michael. My faith in free short stories has been restored!

This paranormal story about a male escort who caters to vampires is very interesting, but a little too short for the amount of background information and world building necessary to explain what was happening. As a result, the character development is minimal at best. Still, I was interested enough in the world that I would consider reading the next story in the series.

I loved this short story. The characters were well developed and I liked John and Michael from the get go. The plot was interesting to me in regards to the Soul Reader and his Vampire. It was endearing how Michael was able to push past John's defenses and find the person beneath the exterior wall. Can't wait to read book 2.

I really liked the idea... a soul reader. Too bad it had to be so rough for John, being kidnapped and made in to an assassin. Luckily he met Michael and found out that there was more to his existence than just killing.

I've already purchased the next two stories. Can't wait to read them.

Recommended.

Phew! *wipes brow*

I was not prepared for that thrilling, sinfully sexy M/M vamp ride!

Michael and John were very believable, despite the fact that this was a vampire short story! I would have liked a bit more description of the boys, but in this way too short story, I will take what I can!

Fantastic paranormal M/M read if you want a sizzling, sensual introduction into the world Natasha has created! It would have gotten five stars if it were longer and had more deliciously hot scenes :D

I recently read Forgotten Soul by Tasha D-Drake and found the short story to be both captivating and well written. Being a huge fan of paranormal writing and of vampires this played right into my comfort zone. The story was well thought out and left you happy but wanting more. Very well done of the writier..

There is only one negative point, IT'S TO SHORT. This start was pulling and written with an attractive start. Both Michael and John were good pair, I'm really interested in how will the main story progress. So far it was a good, to short, first part.

I was really getting into this short, it had the making to be great but somewhere towards the end things started to fall a bit. It was still a good story, maybe the length was the issue. I got this one free and I'm intrigued enough to buy book #2.

OMG! This book was awesome. I was trying to find a good erotic vampire book to read and I happened on this one and got it on a whim. I loved it. I loved how the bites from a vampire are an addiction. That part is genius.
Awilk -will work for books-
I read this in bed as a little bedtime story for adults. It was really quick. I'm not a big fan of such short stories, but luckily this one is a series and I will be getting the next one to continue this story soon.
Fascinating characters, and I want more of them.
Vfields needs to be happy!
Short but for once it was packing a punch. I'll try no to bitch about it because I liked Michael and John so much. I will say if you enjoyed this you have to read the sequel to get the whole story.
I hate the cover art.

Great set up for more stories ( I hope there will be more) a bit to short to get to know much about the MC's or the world this is set in, but it has me looking forward to more.
Mouse
A weird little mini-serial. Not much story. Way too big of a concept to be covered so inadequately. So... she breaks them up to make more money? Not worth buying. This was free.
Don Bradshaw
The idea of a Soul Reader acting as a whore and judging vampires is terrific. This was a very good short story. Please keep the Soul Reader series going Ms Duncan-Drake.
Rukaya Hamdi
I didn't expect to like this quite as much as I did. The MC's are interesting and sexy, and the plot is solid and unique. I would have loved if it kept going.
Toni ~married to a hunk~
This was short story but caught me right at the beginning. I liked the story and wished it was a little longer. For a short story it was good.
Alba
I enjoyed it but it had way too many grammar mistakes...it took away the magic of the story...
but the story was awesome!

Wow actually very good. Highly erotic, a real story in a smut short story, and the ending was a surprise. Great stuff.
