I'm slowly working my way through the comic series in anticipation of season two of Preacher on AMC. Ennis is...well, genius feels almost wrong, but also very close.

These stories are hard to read. These people are vulgar and violent and simply do not deserve to live. There are people like this everywhere, but those of us who do not live this way simply can't imagine these kinds of acts. Ennis can and shows us.

Good ole boys at their playful best.
Like the bulk of the readers of Preacher I enjoyed Jody and was looking forward to a special involving him and T.C. Unfortunately, my expectations weren't all that well met.

The stereotypical "cop on the edge" and "super-model turned lawyer with a dangerous secret" characters were amusing, but a bit overdone. Furthermore, I felt the violence in this issue was a bit too contrived. In the main books it all seems to serve a purpose, or at least be good fun - in this one, I just wasn't feeling it.

En la línea de los otros números de Predicador que había leído. Irreverencia a raudales y grandes dosis de mala leche e incorrección política en este clásico del que ahora se está preparando una serie.

Ennis turns the tables and makes Jody and T.C. the heroes of a dumb 80's/90's action movie kind of thing. Funny.

Ennis began his comic-writing career in 1989 with the series Troubled Souls. Appearing in the short-lived but critically-acclaimed British anthology Crisis and illustrated by McCrea, it told the story of a young, apolitical Protestant man caught up by fate in the violence of the Irish 'Troubles'. It spawned a sequel, For a Few Troubles More, a broad Belfast-based comedy featuring two supporting ch ...more
