Still a good book but I liked it less than the previous one in the series. I can live with the glimpses of silly politics back on earth. However, I do not like the subversive spy crap and that total idiot engineering professor just want's me to scream.

I'm also not too keen on the pacifist ramblings about the nuclear weapon and getting rid if it. Humanity is a stake for christ sake. You do not throw away a given weapon.

In all I liked the book quite a lot but not so much as the first one.

This series inspires a sense of adventure and wonder for the reader. While there has been a long history of space science fiction the author has been able to make a fresh inroad into the genre. The characters are fascinating and each new encounter with alien races is filled with wonder. The plot keeps a wonderful balance of tension and believability. This second installment kept up with the promise of the first and promises a great third book.

I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. My one regret is that it ended far to soon. I can't wait for the next in this wonderful series. I hope the author writes quickly.

John
