Oh I don't know a lick about poetry. But I like: "My self less fruit than flower./ Less food/than herb." Also:

I saw an icicle fall from the gutter
and land in a leafless tree,

and on the house-roof
a spot of melt
shaped like a busted top hat.

"A spot of melt"! Isn't that delightful?

Melissa Dickey is the author of Dragons (2016) and The Lily Will (2011), both from Rescue Press. Her work has appeared in Puerto del Sol, Columbia Poetry Review, jubilat, Kenyon Review Online, and elsewhere. She has received fellowships in writing from the James Michener Center and the Iowa Board of Regents, and was also named a finalist for the Ruth Lilly Poetry Fellowship.
