Edward Gordon has mastered the art of writing and it shows in Caretakers of Eternity.

The focus of the novel is a winery in Arizona called "Eternity Vineyards" that was the location of a Satanic Ritual that produces "Black Wine". Great premise for a ghost story. A compelling twist on the "elixir of life" concept.

The main character is almost too Machiavellian at the outset, but has enough saving graces that it's possible to care about her enough to keep reading.

The plot flows smoothly. I found myself thinking about the novel when I wasn't reading it, and looked forward to getting back to it at the first opportunity.

A good first novel by Edward Gordon. I'll definitely read his next one.
