Yet another example of a book that I found rather inspiring as a kid. This particular book, with all its tables and maps and descriptions, was a driving force behind my love of worldbuilding. Not quite as inspiring as Blacksand, its predecessor, and to be frank the rules (and the film gimmick) are a bit crap, but the world! Oh, the world!

Publisher, editor, art director, these days for his imprint Angry Robot - winning slogan "the best in SF, F and WTF?!" - but also previously publisher of both Black Library and Solaris. Before that - a whole swathe of books for children and teens, both fiction and non-fiction, tie-ins and original works, as well as games, journalism, computer games and more. Probably in need of a good sit down.
