This story was about Elizabeth, a human who owns a store on the edge of Shiftertown and it gets robbed. What she doesn't know if while this is going on Ronan is behind watching this happen. Ronan is a Bear Shifter, and I gotta tell you I fell in love with this guy! Well the man who robbed her store is a member of a gang and soon the gang tries to threaten her and Ronan.

Well of course Ronan to the rescue along with the rest of the Shiftertown folk we know from previous books. It was wonderful to...more

A few years ago (sometime between 2007 and 2009), I ran across The Immortals Series in the library and although it took a while to hunt them all down in both libraries and bookstores, I think I managed to read them all. This is when I was first introduced to Jennifer Ashley (aka Allyson James/ Ashley Gardner) and I immediately fell in love.

Bodyguard is book 2.5 in the Shifters Unbound series. I enjoyed both of the other books in the series so far, Pride Mates and Primal Bonds, but a lot has happ...more

OMG! I want an Alaskan Kodiak Bear so badly!
This is a way cute story! The first one I've read of this series - but I already see a few people that have been mated - probably from other books, so I should probably start from the beginning next :)

Awesome story! This story is about Elizabeth and Ronan -

When the book starts off, Elizabeth is being held at gun point by a big time gang member. The store is all she and her sister has, so giving up the cash meant giving up a lot more - Luckily the gu...more

Short story.

Elizabeth, a human, meets Ronan, a Kodiac bear-shifter, when he saves her from being robbed and then murdered at her store.

In the books by Jennifer Ashley shifters are known about by humans but almost universally distrusted and "collared" by Fae magic, to keep them from showing aggression of any kind. So when Elizabeth calls the cops to report the robbery and that Ronan had knocked the bad guy unconscious, Ronan is the one arrested. Because he attacked a human. Idiot humans. It takes...more

When Elizabeth's gift shop gets robbed late one night, the last thing she expects is a large bear to come to her rescue. Scratch that, the last thing she expects is to see a large bear shift into a naked hunk of a man. But that's what happens. In Jennifer Ashley's Shifters Unbound series, the shifters are second class citizens, so when Ronan backhands the kid holding the gun, he gets arrested for hurting a human.

Elizabeth goes with him to the police statio...more

Ronan was such a sweet, cuddily bear of a guy. Just loved him. Ronan happened to be in the right place at the right time to save Elizabeth from certain death. But the save has some far reaching consequences that could effect Elizabeth's life. Now does she take the offer of Ronan's protection, a tall shifter bear with the gentliest deep brown eyes on the planet or take her sister and run for their life? Ronan on the other hand has had his eyes on Elizabeth for awhile and felt that hopefully fate...more

Kodiak bearshifter Ronan is in the right place at the right time to save Elizabeth, one of the few store owners who will serve shifters, during an armed robbery attempt by a punk who planned on killing Elizabeth when he was done. But when it turns out that the punk is the younger brother to the leader of the newest gang in town, Ronan's protective instincts go into overdrive and Ronan decides that Elizabeth needs a fulltime bodyguard - him - and brings her to the safety of his Shiftertown home a...more

BODYGUARD (Shifter Unbound #2.5) by Jennifer Ashley

Elizabeth Chapman is an independent woman, raising her younger sister and hiding a few secrets that she hopes no one will find. Owning and operating a small store just outside of Shiftertown, she is one of the few human merchants willing to allow the shifters into her store. But when one of the local gang members decides to rob her store at gunpoint, Elizabeth is surprised to find a 15 ft Kodiak shifter coming to her rescue.

Ronan is a bear shift...more

Fun novella from Jennifer Ashley's Shifters Unbound series. This is the story of the Kodiak bear shifter Ronan and the young human Elizabeth Chapman. Elizabeth owns a tiny boutique outside of Shiftertown that was featured in the two earlier books in the series (Pride Mates and Primal Bonds). As one of the few human business owners that will serve shifters, Ronan happens to be in her store to stop a robbery and that kicks off the action.

The romance between Ronan and Elizabeth is sweet and moves a...more

I've had a soft spot for Ronan since Primal Bonds, but now I am officially in love. LOL.
Ronan is such a sweet and caring guy. The fact that he looks after all those cubs made him even more adorable. I Really wish that Jennifer Ashley had used Ronan as one of the main books in this series. With a little bit more page time they could have been incredible (this story was a good length, I'm just being greedy).
I was so happy to see all the gang again and that Liam and Kim have had their daughter....more

Meet Olaf. He's a cute, traumatised 9-year-old polar bear cub struggling to master English, his second language.

His past is so sad it brought out my maternal instincts, especially when he was too scared to sleep alone. And he's not the only vulnerable character in Ronan's informal foster home for abused bears. There are three others. Ronan's Papa Bear act is surprisingly sweet. He's a gentle giant who works as a bouncer, exuding a fierce and dangerous demeanor as a bulky 7ft shifter. His gentle...more

Elizabeth doesn’t need anyone but her sister. She is the girls (well, woman now) protector and she insists on keeping it that way. Elizabeth learned a long time ago not to have faith in anyone but herself. Everyone else will turn on you given the chance. When her store is robbed and bear shifter, Ronan steps in to save her life, she assumes he must have an ulterior motive. Why else would he help? Watching him interact with other shifters and those he has taken under his..err wing…is changing her...more

Elizabeth is one of the few shop owners who lets shifters shop in her store. One night while open late she is held at gun point and being robbed, unbeknownst to her and her assailant Ronan a bear shifter is in the store watching and just waiting to pounce. Ronan is arrested along side the robber for just being a shifter and assaulting a human. But the human he assaulted is none other than the local gang leader's brother. This story was so much fun to read, a lot of that was due to Ronan, he makes me want to find my very own bear shifter. I loved that right away he was protective of Elizabeth, that as an acquaintance he did what he could to stop her from being robbed and killed. Of course all of this lead to Elizabeth hiding away in Shiftertown, being protected by them all. Being human, Elizabeth, had her eyes opened about Shifters.

I loved how Ronan seemed to be the foster home of choice for damaged bears. It lef...more

I seriously loved Ronan! Liam is still my favorite from this series but Ronan is #2 for me. Elisabeth was perfect for him. I wish the story was longer cause I could read about him for a long time and not get bored.

It's been a while since I was in Shiftertown but before I finished the first chapter it was like there had been no time at all as Ronan, the gentle, fiercely protective giant Kodiak found another to protect in the form of Elizabeth Chapman from a would be murderous robber. Ronan stops the robber by disarming him and using minimal defensive behavior to stop the attack but now has to navigate the legal system to retain his freedom. Elizabeth can't have that be a payment for him surely savi...more

A novella that was a very interesting and engaging paranormal tale and one I enjoyed a lot. Elizabeth is the kind of woman who has come out of a hurtful and emotionless upbringing, putting her life on the line many times to protect her younger sister. Now she is a woman whose past is deeply buried and her strength is needed more than ever in a world where shifters are recognized in American society but are greatly feared and their presence tolerated only to a certain degree. There is an entire "...more

After finishing book 2.5 in Jennifer Ashley's Shifters Unbound series I can't wait for book 3! I'm normally not a huge shifter fan, but Primal Bonds' (book #1) cover kept drawing me in til I read it and I was so happy I did. Jennifer Ashley has created a wonderful, yet disturbing, world where shifters are known to humans. Humans have "collared" the shifters with Fae magic to keep control of them and they have collared them in small towns with little to no luxuries. But the shifters have thrived...more

Don't we just love shifters? This novella makes me feel the need to go buy a big stuffed bear and hug it!

We met Ronan in Primal Bonds, Book 2 of the Shifters Unbound Series. It was superb for him to get his own little snippet and then for the author to introduce the other bears in his house. side note who else hopes Olaf gets a book later on?

Elizabeth won me over from the get go with her survival instinct and tenacity. And as much as the book is about her, Ronan is the star of the show.

Simple and sweet, I'm a fan of bear shifters. There's always hugging and honey.

The story was okay, but personally, I just didn't "get" the connection between Elizabeth and Ronan. I think this was a .5 novella, so maybe it was just used to introduce some characters &/or educate readers about Shiftertown, but I just didn't get it. A lot of people love this series so I borrowed it, and I have another (Hard Mated) that I borrowed still to read, so I'm holding my opinion back about my personal preference for this series until I give it another chance. I do have to say I wen...more

The combination of angsty worldbuilding and OTT cheeseball storytelling doesn't really work for me. Add in sloppy editing mistakes and forget it.

I really enjoyed book one in this series - the world building was great and the characters and romance were believable and fun. Book two was a let-down, but I was still willing to continue the series. After this, though, I'm done. The characters were cliches, the plot was simplistic and the writing -- so disappointing. I know Ms. Ashley can do better. I...more

This series is fantastic. I love how the author creates their world with so many layers. A race bound because of their biology and the fear of the ruling forces. Or are they truly as caged as their enslavers believe them to be? Even if they hide their true power and resources, why should they have to do so? A question that keeps occurring in our real world. The spirit of the shifters in light of all the discrimination they suffer is beautiful. They also maintain their sense of humor and irony.

I had this one on my long list of cheap Kindle buys and finally blew the dust off and read it. I hardly ever read a series out of order but I fully expected to not want to invest in the whole series, so I started with this shorter, cheaper book/novella featuring my favorite flavor of shifter--a bear.

Wow is all I have to say...it's a great read and far better written than my usual shifter-porn pile of reading. What a great surprise and it has done the ultimate job in that I am now getting ready...more

I have read the first two books in this series and the twist the author puts on her shifter stories are refreshing. This is why I didn't hesitate to read this book. I love stories that center around bear shifters-I mean they are huge, ferocious, protective, and sexy.
This novella had all the ingredients to be a great read- bear shifter-Hello?!; hero with a name of Ronan and a heroine who need to be protected. *Sigh* Unfortunately this book supports my theory about novellas. They are either a hit...more

3.75 stars Novella in the enjoyable Shifters Unbound series by Jennifer Ashley. Elizabeth has built a new life and business for herself and her sister after dangerous past. A gang member tries to rob her shop and she's rescued by a massive bear shifter who seems to promise all those things she thought she could never have. But the gang aren't eager to let things lie.

I like the world of Jennifer Ashley's shifters. They are a strong and independent lot, unwilling to give in to human rules and subv...more

After reading Wild Cat, book 3 in the Shifters Unbound series, I felt the need to go back and re-read the series. Bodyguard is one of my favorite novellas and it was just as much fun reading it now as it was the first time. I can't get enough of this series. Here's my original review:

I love the Shifter's Unbound series so I woke up early this morning to download and read this novella. Other than stopping to refill my coffee I could not put it aside. I've been looking forward to Ronan's story and...more
