Kat is a sixteen-year-old vampire, and she's not too happy about it. After an experiment-gone-wrong and a bullet to the heart, she now hungers for human blood, and the worst part about that is the guilt. But guilt isn't the only thing stressing her. Kat is being hunted by the Edison Group, a dangerous Cabal that is responsible for her undead state.

Πρόκειται για μια μικρή ιστορία με βασική ηρωίδα την Kat,η οποία με τη βοήθεια της Μarguerite απέδρασε από το Edison Group(βλ. The Darkest Powers trilogy) κ προσπαθεί να βρει καταφύγιο.

Kelley Armstrong: the only author that can create such a AWESOME, badass, realistically believable character in a few pages.

This was a fun short story set in the Darkest Powers world. Kat has escaped the Edison Group only to be captured by bounty hunters...

Kat is a fun heroine and I really liked Neil too... I hope we'll see them more in a Darkest Powers novel!! :)

If you're a fan of the YA series, you should check this one out!

There is so much action and suspense in this novel, its surprising! I loved Kat so much and really want to read more about her.

An interesting tale, told from the teens vamps pov.
I wouldn't mind reading more about Kat and Neil.

This review is written on my phone, so please look away from any stupid writing errors!

So while Arnstrongs "darkest power" series wasn't really for me when I read it, I'm interested in the Edison Group. I want to know more about their other experiments, and about how they operate.
Therefor this novella was a welcome story for me!
This is set pre—story (before the series) and is about a girl from one of said experiments. But in this one they messed with vampire genes.
Its just a really short stor

I wouldn't spend much time pursuing this short story - the majority of the plot is really teasers to her novel series. Nothing too dramatic happens either (as this needs to be saved for said series)

There is a couple of twists, however in a short story there isn't really enough established, to consider unexpected events to be real 'twists'

All in all Hunting Kat, should really be a chapter from a novel, not a considered a story in itself. If you are a fan grab Armstrong's novels, don't bother with

Kat has been a vampire now for six month, because of the genetic experimentations of Edison group she doesn’t know if she’ll continue to age or not. She doesn’t really know anything about what will happen to her now. She is on her way to a vampire meeting in New York with Marguerite when she is run off the road and kidnapped by bounty hunters planning to return her to Edison Group. Once there she meets Chad and Neil who are supposedly kids that were al

HUNTING KAT (e-novella) YA by Kelley Armstrong

HUNTING KAT is a short-story that continues from Kelley Armstrong’s online novella KAT that can be found on the author’s website. Part of the Darkest Powers/Darkness Rising series and originally published in the anthology Kisses From Hell, Hunting Kat is a stand-alone story focusing on 16year old Katiana (Kat) a supernatural being who has been genetically altered and has only come into some of her powers in the previous 6 months. Told from Kat’s POV,

This book is a prequel short story to the Dark Rising series by Kelley Armstrong, and it gave me the perfect opportunity to sample her writing without committing hours to do a whole novel. It was a very interesting story that kept my attention throughout, so that's a definite plus.

Katiana, or "Kat," is on the way to a sort of conference of vampires with her guardian, Marguerite, who wants to consult with some friends about what to do about Kat's impending maturity (she's sixteen). Marguerite re

Katiana - a genetic vampire, taken in by the Edison group for experimentation, rescued by Marguerite... hiding since. But on her 16th birthday they found her, and shot her in the heart to determine how their experiments fared - and she is now full vamp, and free again (the edison group think she died in a fire)... hungers for warm blood, but only taking it from a bag, as it is unknown how 'fresh' blood will affect her. They are heading for new york for a meeting with others to determine a plan ...more

As a child, Katiana was genetically altered by the mysterious Edison Group. Kat was swept to safety by Vampire Marguerite who has kept one step ahead of the group who is hunting Kat. But six months ago, a bullet to her heart changed things. Kat woke up in a morgue as a vampire, the result of the earlier genetic alterations. Trying to get a handle on her new life isn’t easy for Kat. When her car is forced off of the road and down an embankment, she is captured and locked in a cell with two boys ...more

Hunting Kat is the sequal to Kat, a short story in the Darkest Powers series.

Kat, after her complete change into a vampire is enjoying her new life, despite Mags babysiting her and telling her she's not ready yet to fed from the source.

Kat and Mags were suppose to met expersts on Vampires, Mags friends but Kat lousy driving skills got her separated and captured by Bounty Hunters.

What will they do with her? I would leave that to your wild imagination~

I just love how action, and tense it feels wit

I wanted more!

I know it was a short story. I knew that when I bought it. But at the end, I had that familiar, "No! Not yet!" Kelley Armstrong has that effect on me. I get totally draw into the little world she creates and feel one with the main character. I OWN the 6 books this story falls into. I've read them more than once. I also own several in her Otherworld series. This story lived up to the standard I expect from this author.

I did, however unfortunately, catch two editing misses :( first

It's been a while since I read the Darkest Power series. I don't recall reading about the characters in this short story. Kat is another child that was in the Edison group. She was taken long ago by her guardian, Marguerite. Kat's genes were altered so that once she dies she will turn into a vampire. Kat has recently turned and they are on their way to meet other vampire's to discuss Kat's condition. On their way, Kat is taken by a group looking for the kids who have escaped or been taken by ...more

As I have stated in previous reviews, I have difficulty writing a review on a Kelley book without sounding gushy. I adore Kelley's writing style and her ability to write fantastic characters. Kat is no different, she died earlier than she thought she would but, with the help of her vampire guardian, she's dealing with it.

Even in a really short story, Kelley manages to draw you in and keep you interested. The good thing with Hunting Kat is, it gives you a little taste of the Darkness Rising world

Hunting Kat is a short story set in Armstrong's world of the Darkest Powers and Darkness Rising series; and tells the story of "Kat", a 16 year old recently turned vampire who is being hunted by The Edison Group. Overall I found the story a quick, easy read (yeah, it's only 40 pages) and enjoyed Kat's character. The reason for the two star rating is that I believe I read this story before (although I can't remember where), and therefore found it predictable. However, I think readers who have not ...more

I don't know why it took me so long to discover Kelley Armstrong! Last year I read The Gathering and I was very excited about it. It was fun, the main character was more than likeable, there was wild nature, animals, Native American legends, just everything I like! I bought The Summoning and also Bitten, and I can't wait to read them, but first I'm going to read The Calling.
Anyways, "Hunting Kat" was an amazing short-story and a teaser for her series. It only confirmed that Kelley Armstrong is a

Warning - this is an extremely short prequel to The Darkness Rising series. As such, I don't think you would be missing much.

This read would probably suit someone who has come straight out of Kelley Armstrong's Darkest Powers series.

Also for those of you who have read 'Kat', which is another short story and a prequel to 'Hunting Kat', you may find this one entertaining.

I for one enjoyed it. Then again I'm biased. Almost anything written by Armstrong I readily gobble it up. But this one felt sli

When I first received Hunting Kat, I was disappointed with the length as I didn't realize it was a short story. Then, as the story began, I was saddened because it was another book about vampires. Vampires aren't my favorite supernatural creature.

I persevered as I do enjoy Kelley Armstrong's writing. There was a gruesome incident and I was intrigued! I was curious as to the motives behind the accident.

I was disappointed when the story ended even though everything was wrapped up. I'll have to ch

This was a good but short story and the reason for 3 stars is that reason and because the characters are just there. The reader doesn't know anything about them except that Kay has been part of an experiment by the Edison Group. I understand that this is part of the Darkest Powers/Darkness Gathering series but I don't know if there is more of these characters or not, but all of this said, it is a good short story to kill time with and will keep the readers interest, as do most if not all of Ms ...more

Now this is Kelley Armstrong, y'all! Wonderful piece, really, reminded me so much of The Summoning that I just wanted to scream in happiness. I felt much closer to Kat, and Neil reminded me of Derek in a strange yet great way.

That's the thing about this author's writing; it always leaves you with a good taste, or like you've just experienced something big. Oh, how I've missed her writing.

Kat is a 16-year-old vampire who escaped yet another experiment conducted by the Edison group. Something terrible happens and she finds herself on the run with two young teens, both guys, and both vampires. Or are they?

The first few pages were just OK, as they delved into the character's background, but after that it was a fast read, and I enjoyed it too. It's only 40 pages long on the Kobo Touch but a fun, short read if you don't want to leave the romantic, action-packed world Kelley Armstrong

Got interested when I found out this was another Edison Group experiment. Glad to see a species that hasn't been mentioned yet. I liked the rest of the books in the series, so I thought this one would be good. The beginning was boring and slow, but it got interesting when she gets kidnapped by Bounty Hunters. Then the other captured experiments come along. It is also interesting with the betrayal and rescue part.

I didn't enjoy this series finding it was way too short. I loved Kat and loved finding out about another experiment on the run. The only problem was that the story just ended. I think the story could have been longer so we could find out what happened to her next. I hope that another story will come out about Kat, where she could possibly meet the others from the darkest powers and darkness rising series. Do not think I will read this again as it makes me slightly annoyed how it ends. xxx

I thought this was a good short story...I wish it was longer though :-/ I felt like I was just really starting to get into the story like big time and then it ended. Also I really enjoy the character's so far(even though I feel like I still know so little about them) but they are enjoyable all the same. I like Kelley Armstrong's work so far and I'm looking forward to reading more of her stories soon.

Kelley Armstrong has been telling stories since before she could write. Her earliest written efforts were disastrous. If asked for a story about girls and dolls, hers would invariably feature undead girls and evil dolls, much to her teachers' dismay. All efforts to make her produce "normal" stories failed.

Today, she continues to spin tales of ghosts and demons and werewolves, while safely locked a
