Kat is a sixteen-year-old vampire, and she's not too happy about it. After an experiment-gone-wrong and a bullet to the heart, she now hungers for human blood, and the worst part about that is the guilt. But guilt isn't the only thing stressing her. Kat is being hunted by the Edison Group, a dangerous Cabal that is responsible for her undead state. Kat is running out of pl ...more

Kelley Armstrong: the only author that can create such a AWESOME, badass, realistically believable character in a few pages.

This was a fun short story set in the Darkest Powers world. Kat has escaped the Edison Group only to be captured by bounty hunters...

Kat is a fun heroine and I really liked Neil too... I hope we'll see them more in a Darkest Powers novel!! :)

If you're a fan of the YA series, you should check this one out!

An interesting tale, told from the teens vamps pov.
I wouldn't mind reading more about Kat and Neil.

I wouldn't spend much time pursuing this short story - the majority of the plot is really teasers to her novel series. Nothing too dramatic happens either (as this needs to be saved for said series)

There is a couple of twists, however in a short story there isn't really enough established, to consider unexpected events to be real 'twists'

All in all Hunting Kat, should really be a chapter from a novel, not a considered a story in itself. If you are a fan grab Armstrong's novels, don't bother with

As a child, Katiana was genetically altered by the mysterious Edison Group. Kat was swept to safety by Vampire Marguerite who has kept one step ahead of the group who is hunting Kat. But six months ago, a bullet to her heart changed things. Kat woke up in a morgue as a vampire, the result of the earlier genetic alterations. Trying to get a handle on her new life isn’t easy for Kat. When her car is forced off of the road and down an embankment, she is captured and locked in a cell with two boys h ...more

Omg that ended way too quickly! Man Kelley Armstrong always gets me so wrapped up the story I'm Always so upset when I get the last page. My brain is screaming right to know what happens next! I can't wait for "The Rising" to come out next spring!

Warning - this is an extremely short prequel to The Darkness Rising series. As such, I don't think you would be missing much.

This read would probably suit someone who has come straight out of Kelley Armstrong's Darkest Powers series.

Also for those of you who have read 'Kat', which is another short story and a prequel to 'Hunting Kat', you may find this one entertaining.

I for one enjoyed it. Then again I'm biased. Almost anything written by Armstrong I readily gobble it up. But this one felt sli

Part of the Darkest Powers/Darkness Rising series and originally published in the anthology Kisses From Hell, Hunting Kat is a stand-alone story focusing on 16year old Katiana (Kat) a supernatural being who has been genetically altered and has only come into some of her powers in the previous 6 months. ***NOTE MY REVIEWS OFTEN CONTAIN SPOILERS***

Kat has been a vampire now for six month, because of the genetic experimentations of Edison group she doesn’t know if she’ll continue to age or not. She doesn’t really know anything about what will happen to her now. She is on her way to a vampire meeting in New York with Marguerite when she is run off the road and kidnapped by bounty hunters planning to return her to Edison Group. Once there she meets Chad and Neil who are supposedly kids that were al

Katiana - a genetic vampire, taken in by the Edison group for experimentation, rescued by Marguerite... hiding since. But on her 16th birthday they found her, and shot her in the heart to determine how their experiments fared - and she is now full vamp, and free again (the edison group think she died in a fire)... hungers for warm blood, but only taking it from a bag, as it is unknown how 'fresh' blood will affect her. They are heading for new york for a meeting with others to determine a plan o ...more

Hunting Kat is the sequal to Kat, a short story in the Darkest Powers series.

Kat, after her complete change into a vampire is enjoying her new life, despite Mags babysiting her and telling her she's not ready yet to fed from the source.

Kat and Mags were suppose to met expersts on Vampires, Mags friends but Kat lousy driving skills got her separated and captured by Bounty Hunters.

What will they do with her? I would leave that to your wild imagination~

I just love how action, and tense it feels wit

I thought this was a good short story...I wish it was longer though :-/ I felt like I was just really starting to get into the story like big time and then it ended. Also I really enjoy the character's so far(even though I feel like I still know so little about them) but they are enjoyable all the same. I like Kelley Armstrong's work so far and I'm looking forward to reading more of her stories soon.

It's been a while since I read the Darkest Power series. I don't recall reading about the characters in this short story. Kat is another child that was in the Edison group. She was taken long ago by her guardian, Marguerite. Kat's genes were altered so that once she dies she will turn into a vampire. Kat has recently turned and they are on their way to meet other vampire's to discuss Kat's condition. On their way, Kat is taken by a group looking for the kids who have escaped or been taken by par ...more

Hunting Kat is a short story set in Armstrong's world of the Darkest Powers and Darkness Rising series; and tells the story of "Kat", a 16 year old recently turned vampire who is being hunted by The Edison Group. Overall I found the story a quick, easy read (yeah, it's only 40 pages) and enjoyed Kat's character. The reason for the two star rating is that I believe I read this story before (although I can't remember where), and therefore found it predictable. However, I think readers who have not ...more

Kelley is an awesome writer unfortunately I didn't know about her until the tv series Bitten came out then read all of her books and novella within 2 weeks time frame her books are captures the audience whereas you can visualize each story great job

Very short story set in Armstrong's young adult world. It involves a 16 year old vampire named Kat and the two potential vampires, Chad and Neil, who are taken captive with her. Good character development for such a short story but would not work as a stand alone.
Miranda (Tempest Books)
Loved this short little novella! Armstrong's version of vampires are very interesting, and definitely something I'm excited to learn more about in her Darkness Rising series. And I hope we get to see some more of Kat and Neil! Their introduction to each other was cute...I saw a few sparks between them.

I don't know why it took me so long to discover Kelley Armstrong! Last year I read The Gathering and I was very excited about it. It was fun, the main character was more than likeable, there was wild nature, animals, Native American legends, just everything I like! I bought The Summoning and also Bitten, and I can't wait to read them, but first I'm going to read The Calling.
Anyways, "Hunting Kat" was an amazing short-story and a teaser for her series. It only confirmed that Kelley Armstrong is a

As I have stated in previous reviews, I have difficulty writing a review on a Kelley book without sounding gushy. I adore Kelley's writing style and her ability to write fantastic characters. Kat is no different, she died earlier than she thought she would but, with the help of her vampire guardian, she's dealing with it.

Even in a really short story, Kelley manages to draw you in and keep you interested. The good thing with Hunting Kat is, it gives you a little taste of the Darkness Rising world

When I first received Hunting Kat, I was disappointed with the length as I didn't realize it was a short story. Then, as the story began, I was saddened because it was another book about vampires. Vampires aren't my favorite supernatural creature.

I persevered as I do enjoy Kelley Armstrong's writing. There was a gruesome incident and I was intrigued! I was curious as to the motives behind the accident.

I was disappointed when the story ended even though everything was wrapped up. I'll have to ch

This was short story, I did really enjoyed it. In the beginning it was a bit strange, but the end was very good. Maria V. Snyder is one of my favorite writers.

Strangest vampire story I have read yet, vampires NOT allergic to sun, no extra strength. Basically people who just drink blood... intresting

I found this book quite boring? Probably because it was short and I wanted to know more. :3
Cassandra
I really enjoyed getting to know Kat and Neil. Good addition to the series.

Too short. I want to know Kat more. I want more Mags.
Joy (Cheery♡Reads)
I love it and I wish Kat has a series of her own as I would love to read more about her and Neil.

Kelley Armstrong has been telling stories since before she could write. Her earliest written efforts were disastrous. If asked for a story about girls and dolls, hers would invariably feature undead girls and evil dolls, much to her teachers' dismay. All efforts to make her produce "normal" stories failed.

Today, she continues to spin tales of ghosts and demons and werewolves, while safely locked a
