I thought it was illegal to fail this hard without a permit.
I mean, if it were possible for a book to despise humanity and turn against people in general, this would be its first step down the path to villainy.
This book is how they torture state secrets out of spies.
Reading this was like using a pineapple for a prostate exam.

When I first glimpsed at this cover I was sure it was an adult UF book. It's not. However, it would appeal to the older YA readers. You will find intelligent characters, engaging storylines and strong world building in Taryn's Dark Seeker.
In the world that Taryn has built, we have Vampires, and these are not sparkly, dancing vampires either. They're mean and they WILL bite you! We also have Daychildren which are demons turned to vampires (I know, right? Like, totally awesome!). As for Seekers, t More...

So...where do I begin...mmmm
What I loved about this book:
Janie - This girl is tough! I really appreciated the fact that she wasn't one to gripe about the things she had to do, no, she actually goes out, looks around - spots a bad guy and then goes and kicks it’s ass. I love that part! There are too many heroines who don't want to face what they need to, who whine and moan when they do and are in general to weak to deal with anything that comes there way.
Kai - oh...Kai, Kai, Kai - I love everyth More...

Taryn Browning has written a excellent debut novel for her Seeker Series. I found Dark Seeker (Book #1) was a tantalizing read, that was very hard to put down at any stage though-out the whole book. Janie was awesome! She kicked some serious ass! Most books now a days has a weak and fragile girl who whines 99.9% of the book! But not Janie! She actually went to kill the vampires instead of them coming to her. She was impulsive but brave and she sacrifices her own happiness for the good of others, which is really cool of her.
Kai was our tortured, lonely, H O T, hero. You’re so perfect! Kai has a horrible past and does anything for redemption. I loved his ugly scars, they just ma More...

I sat down to start this book and finished it in one sitting! This is the first in the new Dark Seeker series and it did not disappoint!
This story follows the life of Janie, a high school student and a Seeker. A Seeker, someone who is raised and trained to rid the streets of the undead. She spends her days being an ordinary teenager, going to school and her nights fighting and killing the undead. I liked how kick-ass Janie was, she knew what More...

Dark Seeker was kindly provided to me by the author Taryn Browning in exchange for my honest review and is the first book in the Seeker series.
Janie Grey is a 17 year-old Seeker, a job which entails her ridding the streets of the undead of Baltimore - a duty which has been passed down from her Cherokee ancestors and one she takes quite seriously. When she has a run-in with who she assumes is one of the undead - a daychild, she is hesitant More...

4.5- 5 stars!
You may guess what the "Children of the Night" are but I'm sure you don't have a clue of what "Day Children" are...
Well, you'll have to read the book to find out. Taryn Browning has created a whole new kind of breed. (or half-breed) that is as intriguing as evil.
I loved this story (hence the 5 stars :P)

I received this book from the author for review and I have already purchased the prequel and I can’t wait until the sequel is released. I really really liked this book.
Certain elements of the story and the characters reminded me heavily of Buffy the Vampire Slayer which is, my all time favourite TV show. So of course I was going to love this book. There’s a lot going on in the book but not so much that it’s easy to get confused (I get confused easily, ok?). There’s a good balance of action and More...

This book was awesome, an excellent debut by Browning. I just kept reading and reading and I just could not put it down! I was driving my husband crazy with all my reading. I loved the story and the characters. I think Janie is so inspiring in her bravery and she is a really strong young woman. It was really interesting to read about a seeker with cherokee inheritance but I would have loved to know a little bit more about that and why her age changes every fourth year. But other than that this s More...

Title: Dark Seeker (Seeker #1)
Author: Taryn Browning
Date of Release: October 4th, 2011
Number of Pages: 298
Source: SupaGurl Tours and Taryn Browning
Review: If a book is pitched with a summary that has a strong girl protagonist and involves knives and fighting, I’m sold. I’m such a sucker for these types of books. Anyways, this story was a bit slow for me, but overall I found I enjoyed it a lot. There were too close of similarities to Buffy for me I think. In the end that was okay, because the Bu More...

In this teen paranormal romance, Janie is a Seeker, trained to hunt out and kill the monsters who prey on humans. Her mother was a Seeker before her, and this is Janie's second time through high school.
This is all about to get complicated when a new breed of monsters, a combination of vampires and demons, starts getting numerous enough to cause problems. Janie is thinking about how to exterminate these Daychildren when she runs into one who saves her life.
Like Angel from the Buffy series, Kai is More...

I give this book a 4.5 rating :)
Seventeen year old Janie Grey is a Seeker, a duty passed down from her Cherokee ancestors. She rids the streets of Baltimore of the undead. Lesson #1: Never trust the undead. After her father's death Janie creates her own lesson: Love isn't worth the risk and she usually stick to those lessons until she meet Kai Sterdam. At first, she believes Kai is what she's suppose to hunt, but as Janie becomes intrigued over Kai, she gets deeper into his past and discovers so More...

One of the things I like about Dark Seeker is that it has vampires that will not love you, but will actually kill you on sight. Browning has, of course, introduced her own breed of vampires and they're pretty dangerous. Now, if you've been following my blog, you'll have noticed that I love girls who kick-ass, literally. If you're just joining me, I love girls that kick-ass (literally) and Janie does just that (literally). The action scenes were a lot of fun to read. Janie is something fierce, bu More...

Dark Seeker by Taryn Browning is an exciting, suspenseful and utterly addicting story. Folks, I simply could not put this one down.
I was just discussing with my friend how much I adore strong females. And Janie is practically the poster girl for the term. She’s determined, intelligent, feisty and all-around fierce. Janie doesn’t take crap from anyone and she doesn’t let people push her around; she makes up her own mind and follows her own heart.

E-book: Dark Seeker by Taryn Browning
Pages: 297
Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal
Source: Sent From Author
Short Synopsis: Janie is not your average high school student. She is also a vampire hunter, called a Seeker. She meets a vampire one day, that is unlike any other vampire she has come across. Besides boy trouble, Janie discovers that something big is going on between the daychildren (vampires who can walk in daylight) and regular vampires, and Janie's the one caught in the middle of it all.

Things I love about this book: The main character, who has asthma and still manages to kick vampire butt, saves the Junior Prom king from an overweight demon within the first two chapters.
Yep. It’s that kind of wonderful.
“Dark Seeker” is carried forth on a lot of action, but for once, I found that wasn’t a bad thing. The writer was able to keep my attention despite all the dizzying battles and butt-kicking that go on in the book. I found the pace refreshing. I also liked that the bad guys in Da More...

I really enjoyed reading “Dark Seeker.” The best paranormals for me are those in which the author takes care in “world-building,” setting up the structure of the Paranormal or Supernatural species, their tastes, talents, relation to humanity, and so forth. Author Taryn Browning does an excellent job of this. Her Supernatural hierarchy is detailed and understandable, and very intriguing. Her protagonist-heroine, Janie Grey, is a seventeen-year-old high school student, descendant of Cherokees, ins More...

Dark Seeker by Taryn Browning is another entry in the genre of Young Adult Paranormal novels, and like many others, it too will have sequels to further build the tale of evil dead, innate skills of strength, and of course, forbidden young love. When I started Dark Seeker, I thought to myself, this is a another version of Buffy, the Vampire Slayer. Now there isn't anything wrong with that, because I LOVED that whole series and watched it religiously. I think I was expecting to find something more More...

This is my first 1 star review. I pride myself on always finding the good in a book but with Dark Seeker it was almost impossible. Just be forewarned this review is going to be riddled with spoilers because I’m sitting here dumbfounded that I even made it through this book.
To start off I did not like the main character at all. Janie is supposedly the seeker and she is meant to kill Daychildren and vampires. Ok we were off to a good start but within the first 10 pages she meets Kai, a daychild, More...

Dark Seeker was a fun, fast-paced action and at times, funny ride of a story. There was a nice blend of character interaction and background as well as twists and turns that held my attention throughout.

I give this 4.5 stars.
This book has several well-developed characters. Jana, a seeker, is going through High School once again. It seems as though he is part of the daychildren...but is he? Is it possible for her to befriend her enemy? Along the way we get to meet a few of Jana's high school friends, a witch, a few va More...

This was a fun, quick read. Janie is a Seeker. Her job is to protect humanity from vampires, demons and a half breed called Daywalkers. While she is out she runs across Kai. He moves like a Daywalker and but he doesn't give off the same vibes as one. Slowly she gets to know him and finds that there are more human traits to him. As time passes Kai keeps coming out of nowhere and saving her life and soon they develop a friendship/partnership. Together the two of them learn more about a new threat More...

At first she believes he is like the undead she is supposed to kill but, as she gets to know him better she learns that he has human traits as well.
