I have only tried a couple of recipes so far, but they have all been amazing! The photos alone are drool worthy or food porn-ish as we like to call it. Especially the dessert section. I can't help but stare at the baked doughnuts - so yummy looking! However, the recipes themselves are easy to follow and most of the ingredients are basic. This is definitely a cookbook worth buying!

I first picked this book up because I'd seen the author on Cupcake Wars, thought her winning cupcakes looked delicious, and went to her website, which mentioned this cookbook. I am so glad I found it because I LOVE this cookbook! It contains so many delicious recipes, beautiful photos, and is such a great go-to cookbook for quick, easy, and tasty dishes. A number of the recipes in here are very simple and/or basic, which is great for someone who isn't quite a fearless home chef, and it's an exce...more
Pro's- Simple recipes, both in regards to ingredients and assembly. Good for people starting to eat a plant based diet and to cook vegan.
Con's- The pictures of the food are nice, but they should have included more pictures of food and less of Chloe, I mean, she isn't hard on the eyes but this is a cookbook.
The design is very simplistic, and the content a little childish at times- this girl is a classically trained chef that worked at Millenium (have you seen their cookbook? pure vegan bliss)! I...more

So far I've made the Tomato-Basil Bisque (my husband said it was the best tomato soup he's ever had and he's a tomato soup connoisseur), the Fettuccine Alfredo (really good), Penne alla Vodka with the Best Garlic Bread in the World (this was my favorite - the garlic bread lives up to its name), the Mongolian BBQ Seitan using her seitan recipe in the back of the book (the sauce was good although I'd made something very similar on my own before out of ingredients in my fridge, so nothing revolutio...more
I recently transitioned from being *just* a vegetarian, onto a completely vegan lifestyle. [I watched Vegucated. I was horrified. I can't even LOOK at animal products right now.] Anyway, I picked up the desserts book- and decided to pick this one up as well.
I've tried 3 recipes from this one so far, and am trying a 4th this afternoon. Everything has turned out absolutely amazing. And the way I cook, I make it by the recipe the first time, then adjust and fuss with the flavors afterwards until th...more

A bunch of recipes from this book are on my agenda for this week, so I'll update you on results soon. A first read through, however, suggests this will be an awesome book. Great photos, fairly simple ingredients, and extra points for providing gluten-free substitution instructions for nearly everything. The dessert section looks decadent and there are menu suggestions at the end. The food is a bit fancier than average in some cases. This would be a great book to use for vegan entertaining. Even...more
I have made several of Chloe's recipes, from both her cookbook and her website, and they have all been delicious and also quite easy to put together. I think a lot of people are afraid of vegan cooking and baking because they think there will be a lot of weird or hard-to-find ingredients required. Not in Chloe's recipes; the ingredients needed are easy to find, easy to use, and make delicious recipes which will knock your socks off. I'm not a vegan, but I love experimenting with different types...more
I watched Chloe Coscarelli as her vegan cupcakes won Cupcake Wars (she was the first vegan baker to win) so I was interested to pick up her cookbook. I was sold by the easy and delicious sounding recipes, making a lot of favorite dishes vegan. The recipes overall are straight forward and simple and there are lots of color photos and vegan cooking tips. So far I have made Th Best-Ever Macaroni and Cheese and it was excellent. Here's a link to my blog post about it. http://kahakaikitchen.blogspot....more
Healthy (mostly) but still tasty. Most recipes are very reasonable in terms of effort and skill level. A few require more work and might be ambitious for a new cook. We tried the mango masala panini: very yummy, a lot of work. I think you could cut a little corner by doctoring up some store bought tamarind or mango chutney. Also tried the falafel sliders, which were yummy but perhaps a little dry. The avocado hummus, chimuchurri sauce and the Mongolian Seitan, were really lovely. Looking forward...more
4.5 stars! I haven't made a single recipe in here I don't LOVE. (And I've made SEVERAL!) The donuts are to die for. The fettucine alfredo INCREDIBLE. And those Double Drive-thru Burgers? FUGGETABOUTIT. Amazing. The only aspect that keeps it from being a perfect "5" (imho) was that some receipes do have several steps and it isn't always easy to throw together last-minute. But, Chloe does a great job at letting you know just what you can prepare ahead of time, so when I take the time to plan a mea...more
Chloe has a very wide variety of recipes in her book. There are dinner party-type appetizers, hearty burgers and Italian pastas, Asian and Carribbean-inspired fare and oh-so-mouthwatering desserts.
While I waited for this to become available at the library I went ahead & made a few dishes from Chloe's blog. These included:
~Pad Thai Noodles, 4* (so tasty, will be putting in regular rotation)
~Roasted Apple, Butternut Squash & Caramelized Onion Pizza, 3* (I pretty much love every pizza, but...more

4 ½ stars as I’m mostly reviewing for the recipes/food.
So, the advice isn’t great, particularly the promise of weight loss when switching to a vegan diet, if weight loss is needed. I’m really sick of that one. And there are lots of “model like” photos of the author that kind of annoyed me (though similar ones in Alicia Silverstone's book didn’t bother me at all, nor in most books) but then there was a great photo of the author with her two rescued dogs and I warmed up to the photos. And there is...more

This is a vegan cookbook. I am not a vegan, but since I am allergic to gluten, dairy, and eggs (yes, I am the life of the party), I often look to vegan recipes for some ideas. I saw Chloe on TV and was intrigued so I purchased this cookbook. I do like the recipes so far. I gave her four stars however because the book commits the cardinal cookbook sin for me...pictures of a shiny happy Chloe but not of the food! Yikes! I'm a visual person, and I want to be drawn into a recipe by the beautiful foo...more
This book is great! I'm trying to eat more vegan foods, and not only are the recipes vegan, healthy, easy to make...but most importantly they taste good! I first saw Chloe on the Cupcake Wars, and I like her personality and if she can win making vegan cupcakes, she can make anything taste good! The book itself is very pretty and has some beautiful photographs inside as well. I'm glad I picked up this book to add to my cookbook collection!
It's not often I look at a cookbook and actually think - heck, I could really make that (to me, cooking is a form of cruel and unusual torture), but Chloe has made it look simple, and delicious. As an aspiring Vegan, this is my first stop for the vegan transition, and so far, I am absolutely delighted with this book. And hey, it has a delicious 5 minute salad - now that is right on the mark for how long I like to be in the kitchen too!!
love love love this book! my family was skeptical of eating vegan (especially the baking recipes & the fact i have never baked in my life) and everything came out fantastic! i haven't put the book down since i got it! i made the cinnamon rolls for my dad's side of the family that came to a holiday brunch at my parents' house and people told me they were better than the non-vegan alligator coffeecake one of my relative's brought!
Likes: Make ahead tips, easy to follow instructions
Dislikes: Some of the recipes to me weren't recipes, Avocado on Toast to me is not a recipe. Some of the pictures throughout the book were of Chloe instead of food, I would much rather have seen more pictures of the food.
Overall I think this would be a good cookbook for anyone who wants to give vegan cooking a try.

This might be my new favorite vegan cookbook. The recipes are so easy -- I already have most of the things in my kitchen and don't need to add a lot to my shopping list (like some other books). Plus, most of the food Chloe has included are favorite foods that most people like. Many vegan cookbooks have obscure, complicated recipes OR food that isn't really that good. Not this one! I even finally found a delicious vegan pancake recipe (easy to make, delicious in the tummy). Yay!
So far we've tried seven of these recipes and loved every last one of them. I know it sounds cliche but trust me, you won't believe it's vegan! Loved the biscuit recipes and I'm a Southern gal. Also she has one of the best gravy recipes my husband and I have ever run across. It could easily fool carnivores.
