4 ½ stars as I’m mostly reviewing for the recipes/food.

So, the advice isn’t great, particularly the promise of weight loss when switching to a vegan diet, if weight loss is needed. I’m really sick of that one. And there are lots of “model like” photos of the author that kind of annoyed me (though similar ones in Alicia Silverstone's book didn’t bother me at all, nor in most books) but then there was a great photo of the author with her two rescued dogs and I warmed up to the photos. And there is
I have only tried a couple of recipes so far, but they have all been amazing! The photos alone are drool worthy or food porn-ish as we like to call it. Especially the dessert section. I can't help but stare at the baked doughnuts - so yummy looking! However, the recipes themselves are easy to follow and most of the ingredients are basic. This is definitely a cookbook worth buying!

Recipes made so far:
* Chloe's Favorite Five-Minute Salad: 5* So simple yet incredibly good. Once avacados are in seas
Chloe has a very wide variety of recipes in her book. There are dinner party-type appetizers, hearty burgers and Italian pastas, Asian and Carribbean-inspired fare and oh-so-mouthwatering desserts.

While I waited for this to become available at the library I went ahead & made a few dishes from Chloe's blog. These included:

~Pad Thai Noodles, 4* (so tasty, will be putting in regular rotation)
~Roasted Apple, Butternut Squash & Caramelized Onion Pizza, 3* (I pretty much love every pizza, but
Pro's- Simple recipes, both in regards to ingredients and assembly. Good for people starting to eat a plant based diet and to cook vegan.

Con's- The pictures of the food are nice, but they should have included more pictures of food and less of Chloe, I mean, she isn't hard on the eyes but this is a cookbook.
The design is very simplistic, and the content a little childish at times- this girl is a classically trained chef that worked at Millenium (have you seen their cookbook? pure vegan bliss)! I
So far I've made the Tomato-Basil Bisque (my husband said it was the best tomato soup he's ever had and he's a tomato soup connoisseur), the Fettuccine Alfredo (really good), Penne alla Vodka with the Best Garlic Bread in the World (this was my favorite - the garlic bread lives up to its name), the Mongolian BBQ Seitan using her seitan recipe in the back of the book (the sauce was good although I'd made something very similar on my own before out of ingredients in my fridge, so nothing revolutio ...more
Likes: Make ahead tips, easy to follow instructions

Dislikes: Some of the recipes to me weren't recipes, Avocado on Toast to me is not a recipe. Some of the pictures throughout the book were of Chloe instead of food, I would much rather have seen more pictures of the food.

Overall I think this would be a good cookbook for anyone who wants to give vegan cooking a try.

In a word, YUM! I wish there had been fewer pictures of the lovely Chloe looking radiant and more pictures of the dishes she cooked.

★★★★★ I haven't made all the recipes in this one, but of the approximately 15, they have all been keepers!
I saw this chef interviewed and thought she was adorable. She has a great philosophy about vegan food being something you can incorporate into your diet- it's not all or nothing. She seems incredibly driven and enthusiastic about her recipes. Plus, she claims to test each one at least 50 times, which is pretty damn impressive. I tried several of her recipes the week I checked this book out from the library, and I enjoyed them all. My carnivorous husband wasn't as much of a fan, but he did grudgi ...more
I first picked this book up because I'd seen the author on Cupcake Wars, thought her winning cupcakes looked delicious, and went to her website, which mentioned this cookbook. I am so glad I found it because I LOVE this cookbook! It contains so many delicious recipes, beautiful photos, and is such a great go-to cookbook for quick, easy, and tasty dishes. A number of the recipes in here are very simple and/or basic, which is great for someone who isn't quite a fearless home chef, and it's an exce ...more
I recently transitioned from being *just* a vegetarian, onto a completely vegan lifestyle. [I watched Vegucated. I was horrified. I can't even LOOK at animal products right now.] Anyway, I picked up the desserts book- and decided to pick this one up as well.

I've tried 3 recipes from this one so far, and am trying a 4th this afternoon. Everything has turned out absolutely amazing. And the way I cook, I make it by the recipe the first time, then adjust and fuss with the flavors afterwards until th
I can't believe that I forgot to mark this book read. Perhaps it's because I've been too busy using it. Chloe's Kitchen is an amazing vegan cookbook, and possibly one of the best cookbooks I've ever used. Her food is delicious; carnivore friends enjoy the dishes I've served them from this book and asked for more. My husband begs me to make the dishes regularly. There's more refined fats/ oils in these recipes than in the Happy Herbivore's cookbooks, but Chloe's recipe still seem relatively low f ...more
Oh goodness, I just wrote a long review of this cookbook but it appears that Goodreads swallowed it up. I'll try to hit the main points again.

This cookbook is a great choice for someone who is trying out veganism or doing VB6: Eat Vegan Before 6:00 to Lose Weight and Restore Your Health . . . for Good. The recipes are straightforward, the photos are beautiful, and the ingredients are not terribly exotic. Even if you have no vegan tendencies whatsoever, you might want to keep this book on hand fo
I love this cookbook. One thing I really appreciate in a cookbook is photos, and this one has tons of great photos of its recipes. Everything that we've made out of this so far has been fantastic-- the sweet potato gnocchi, the barbecue tofu pizza, the falafel sliders with tahini sauce and avocado hummus (both sauces were delish too!), her 5-ingredient salad, etc. The other thing I love about these recipes is there are tons that can please not only vegans/vegetarians, but those who regularly eat ...more
I love the recipes in the book! Chloe's culinary training really shows. The only downside is these vegan recipes have a lot of added fat from oil, etc. This is a great book for people new to vegan cooking. It will convince them that vegan cooking can really be delicious. Other recipes from cookbooks like Forks Over Knives are healthier, but not as delicious as these. It is a lot more challenging to make food taste better without added fat.

A bunch of recipes from this book are on my agenda for this week, so I'll update you on results soon. A first read through, however, suggests this will be an awesome book. Great photos, fairly simple ingredients, and extra points for providing gluten-free substitution instructions for nearly everything. The dessert section looks decadent and there are menu suggestions at the end. The food is a bit fancier than average in some cases. This would be a great book to use for vegan entertaining. Even ...more

I was not that impressed with my first go through of this cookbook. The recipes are vegan, but not necessarily whole foods. (For example, tempeh burger on a white bun) I did mark a few recipes to try. I might come back to this cookbook if they turn out well.
Made her "Chlostess" Cupcakes over the weekend and they were a HUGE hit! Made the gluten-free version and they turned out perfect, tasted just like the original Hostess Cupcakes! Non-vegan family was impressed, which says something :)
We found several recipes that are on our menu rotation. Although we are not vegan, we add in the chicken or whatever and the meals are delicious and a bit more healthy ;) Very tasty!! The chimichuri tacos are AMAZING!!!

I thoroughly enjoy this cookbook and have not had a single non-dessert recipe disappoint me. The only recipe which did not float my boat was the mint ice cream. Otherwise some of my favorite recipes are the cheezy broccoli soup in bread bowls, the alfredo sauce and my absolute favorite is the Barley Bliss Casserole! That dish is awesome for leftover lunches, I could probably eat it everyday. I haven't tried every recipe in the book yet but look forward to trying them. I think I enjoyed t

Love the recipes I've tried so far. The food is easy and accessible for the beginning vegan cook. The Mocha Almond Fudge cake is chocolatey-coffee heaven.
I have made several of Chloe's recipes, from both her cookbook and her website, and they have all been delicious and also quite easy to put together. I think a lot of people are afraid of vegan cooking and baking because they think there will be a lot of weird or hard-to-find ingredients required. Not in Chloe's recipes; the ingredients needed are easy to find, easy to use, and make delicious recipes which will knock your socks off. I'm not a vegan, but I love experimenting with different types ...more
It's a cooking book, and I recently purchased it, so I haven't tried that much from it yet! But what I have, I liked very much.
Awesome vegan cookbook...several recipes in regular rotation, including a few my meat-loving husband will eat for dinner.
Over the last couple of months, my husband and I have been living the vegan lifestyle. And what that meant to us, was not finding vegan processed foods because we are concerned about animal cruelty (we are, so don't judge) but we wanted to kick out processed food dependance to the curb! And I would say, that 95% of our diet is all fresh fruit and veggies! This cookbook has been an amazing aid in our vegan journey. I would recommend this book to anyone considering the diet/lifestyle and even to t ...more
I watched Chloe Coscarelli as her vegan cupcakes won Cupcake Wars (she was the first vegan baker to win) so I was interested to pick up her cookbook. I was sold by the easy and delicious sounding recipes, making a lot of favorite dishes vegan. The recipes overall are straight forward and simple and there are lots of color photos and vegan cooking tips. So far I have made Th Best-Ever Macaroni and Cheese and it was excellent. Here's a link to my blog post about it. http://kahakaikitchen.blogspot. ...more
I love this book!!!! So many simple recipes, I tried some and they came out great!!!
looks like a lot of good recipes that seem simple. can't wait to try it!

Healthy (mostly) but still tasty. Most recipes are very reasonable in terms of effort and skill level. A few require more work and might be ambitious for a new cook. We tried the mango masala panini: very yummy, a lot of work. I think you could cut a little corner by doctoring up some store bought tamarind or mango chutney. Also tried the falafel sliders, which were yummy but perhaps a little dry. The avocado hummus, chimuchurri sauce and the Mongolian Seitan, were really lovely. Looking forward ...more
This is a great cookbook for anyone :)
