This is a combined edition of humorist Dave Barry's "Dave Barry Turns 40", "Dave Barry Talks Back", and "Dave Barry's Greatest Hits". I knew of Dave Barry, but had never read any of his columns or books. Now that I have, I definitely want to read more. The World According to Dave Barry by Dave Barry (Random House Value Publishing 1994) (817+/-). This is a collection of Dave Barry's columns which had been compiled into books. This volume represents a reprinting of three of his books (Dave Barry Talks Back, Dave Barry Turns 40, and Dave Barry's Greatest Hits) into a single bound volume. My rating: 7/10, finished 8/26/14.

I read this one back in college, and laughed my head off. I love his metaphors and creative, self-deprecating humor. I also learned a useful writing tip in reading his essays: each essay starts with a topic, then introduces a second, sometimes a third topic, and then ends with a clever summary that ties the two or three topics together in a neat little package.
