This is a wonderful coffee table book that has documents and commentary that tell the story of Washington State from Territory to about 2005. I mainly skimmed it and just read what grabbed me and looked at a lot of the document copies which included marriage certificates, treaties, postcards, letters, many photos, cartoons and much more. Each page or two was about one topic, which were mostly presented in chronilogical order. The topics were summarized similar to a paragraph in a history book. ...more

The author obviously put an enormous amount of research into this book. The archived materials she found are presented in a beautiful format and cover the history of Washington from 1852 to the present day. You will need a bright reading light and a magnifying glass to get full benefit of the reproduced materials. All in all, it's a great way to learn Washington history.
