Great book about the 1998 Men's Cross Country Team of the University of Colorado! Follows the team and coaches from summer training until the NCAA Championships. It has specific training and events in it. The book tends to focus on the star runner and eventual NCAA Champion Adam Goucher, and another runner named Chris Severy. Great read!

This may very well be the best book about running, and what it's like to be a supremely dedicated runner, ever written. Oh, and one of the characters would be high in the running for biggest a-hole of all time, I swear damn near every line he has is filled with enough swear words to offend even the most vulgar sailor.

In describing this book, I'd err on the side of hyperbole - it's the grail of running books. If you read it a few times, you can glean some of Wetmore's workouts and tweak them to your needs. I re-read most of this every fall before our season for its inspiration, precision, and storytelling.

Goucher is now a professional Nike runner. while he did not make the Beijing Olympics his wife did. Here he is the stud on a talented Colorado D1 college squad under the tutelage of Wetmore. Non-runners will probably not be too interested. some killer work-outs. A few good coaching tactics.

Awesome--made Wetmore and the Colorado guys household names among runners. One of the best non-fiction sports books out there, although if those who don't have a special interest in running will find the training descriptions a bit repetitive.

Great book! Chris Lear does a great job covering the CU x-country team as they went through a tough year. He paints the picture of how a top rated college team preps for the national championship. A must read if you're a serious runner.

This is a fast read...like the runners represented in it. There is no fluff in this account of a team vying for another national Cross Country title. I felt like a part of the team and wanted to do their crazy runs.

An inspirational read for any athlete, Running with the Buffaloes details the ends to which athletes will go for their sport as well as the emotional bonds that ensue within teammates.

This book gives you an "in depth" look inside the daily life, pressures, and training of a top notch NCAA Division I cross country program. It brought back a lot of memories for me.

Astounding insight into a the training. Guys running 100+ miles each week to train for a 10K!. Banging out sub-5 minute miles for kicks (pun intended). Phenomenal read.

As a runner, this book was incredibly inspirational. I wanted to go out and run tempos and speed workouts! A great take on the inner workings of a collegiate team.

You can't make this stuff up. Its amazing when you start tracking a team towards a common goal.
Read this book, even if you aren't into running.

Great book about what it's like to be on an XC team in college. Even lil' ol' D3 runners like me can find something to identify with.

Its a sports book, so you'd probably have to be interested in running or sports a bit. But it is very well written and a good read.

interesting story and definitely got me fired up to go run...although at a much slower pace than the CU runners.

It's a quick read and I'm a running nerd, but Chris Lear's slobbering worship of the team was a little gross.

OK so every runner is suppose to love this book, but to be honest I found it a little boring at times.

Interesting story about running, though on a 4th grade reading level.
