An excellent introduction and examination of the artists who changed the face of American theatre in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Hohman shifts the focus away from Stanislavsky to shine the light on the other major players who have been overshadowed by the theatrical giant. Her writing is informative, evocative and digestible.
