The synopsis provided for this story was great and I was crazy excited to read it. The idea (Succubi and Incubi) was fresh and not over done. (One more vampire book and I may puke)
Things I liked:
I enjoyed the character of William
The idea was fresh
I enjoyed the inner struggle of good vs evil within Lilith.
Things I didn't enjoy so much:
The storytelling seemed a little erratic, which made reading it tedious.
The characters lacked depth. I wanted the bad guys to be bad. I wanted Lilith be less wishy...more

Full review is at the blog! This is a five-star read except for a personal preference in one small style thing...you know how Rachel Caine's Morganville vamps tend to continue on...and Scott Westerfeld's Uglies series doesn't exactly end on the last page...

Straight to Hell is about a woman who finds that she has inherited a family curse after she dies. The beginning of the book is a little over the top and funny however it progresses somewhat slowly; later the author cleverly reveals certain situations that makes the story take off. I really connected with the characters especially Lillith because I am a mom and empathized with her predicaments. All in all I enjoyed the book, original storyline, and great characters. The ending offered enough of a...more
Very good book. I wasnt sure at first if I would like this book or not, because at the very beginning, I really thought the main character would be just another one of those characters from the Real Housewives. But I was certainly wrong regarding that and the story really kept my attention the whole way through. The main character Lilith Straight, who is a really good person, becomes a succubus after being struck and killed by a car and has to struggle throughout the book between right and wrong...more
When I started the book, I though uh-oh this is sounding like a Queen Betsy rip off – right from the first page Lilith mentions the day she died...and she was hit by a car. But Lilith doesn't rise from the dead, instead she must fulfil her family's destiny and become a succubus, in the employ of the devil... or Miss Spry as the case may be. Don't worry, it's not all about sex either, true to her name, Lilith is a temptress but must use her seductive skills to sway the decisions of humans and gai...more
This is a very interesting take on a supernatural creature that I don't know a lot about. Succubi are not a topic often covered by authors, but that is exactly what Lilith Straight became upon her death. It turns out that it is a family curse pretty much. It goes all the way back to the Salem Witch trials where a woman who was accused of witch craft actually turned to the devil to get herself out of being killed as a witch. Ironic huh? In order to not be killed, the devil (or whoever was her con...more

“Straight to Hell” has one of the covers once upon a time I would shy away from. Not anymore and just like first gem Michelle Scott does not disappoint. Not only does the storyline follow its title when Lilith has the added bad luck to be hit by a car and is sent straight to hell, her last name is Straight. It is a laugh out loud pun when you make the connection.

I was given the opportunity to read and review this book through PR/UF Addicts. Thank you!
I tend to judge a book by its cover. I do that a lot. I also read summaries and all that, but I still judge. And when I checked out the cover for this book, I immediately though Paranormal Chick-lit. Straight to Hell was exactly that - a guilty pleasure, good to the last drop paranormal chick-lit book.

I liked it so much better than I expected to and this is quite a difficult review to write with no spoilers.
At the ripe old age of 34, Lilith finds she has inherited the mantle of the family business - which she didn't even know existed. This turn of events just adds more to her already overflowing plate of life. She's lost her life of luxury, her friends, her husband, her mom dies, her house is burned down, she's taken in her sister that won't work & her ex-husband's troubled niece and she...more

This story isn't about a succubus. It's about a very human woman named Lillith struggling to do the best she can with what she's got. She's so strong that she's keeping it all together pretty well after a divorce, her house burning down, and relocating. Relocating to not only a new home, but a very greatly reduced style of living than she was accustomed to. She went from being an 'elite' to' trying to make ends meet'. She has a tiny support system and several dependents. Doesn't wallow in self p...more
3.5 stars - Lilith Straight had it all, the rich husband, the fabulous house, in short, the perfect life, but no more. Then just when she thinks that everything in her life has has gone to hell, Lilith dies and goes to Hell (literally) and back. Now Lilith's a newly made Succubus single mom trying to balance her new duties with her family and her old values.

I wasn't expecting much from this book - I'm not sure why, either. I didn't expect it to be bad, I just didn't expect it to be amazingly good and keep my attention. It did. To the point that instead of being sat at work, counting down the hours to get home, have a shower and sleep, I was counting down to get back to my laptop and continue reading the wonderful e-book.

I absolutely adored this book. I love that this book revolves around an adult, particularly a mom. Lilith is a 30-something mother who lives in a house that is absolutely packed. She's got her lazy, slacker step-sister, her step-sister's man friend, her daughter, and her ex-husband's niece who is a handful on her own....more

Lillith Straight is a thirty-something divorced mother of an eight year old daughter who is struggling to make ends meet. To further complicate her life, she has her ex-husband’s young niece and her stepsister living with her. And, oh, by the way, she “dies” after being hit by a car, the Devil appears to claim her soul and she now has to work for him as a reincarnated succubus.
To say Lillith struggles with her new circumstances is putting it mildly. She’s pretty bad at being a succubus initially...more

Straight to Hell was a decent book. I never found myself wondering what happened next though. The book was very short (a one sitting book.)
Lilith is a seemingly rebellious individual, and rather whiny I may add. She has a horrible ex husband, a horrible job, a horrible demon, a horrible house. She doesn't like the hands she is dealt and wont do anything about them. She has one shot at redemption and she doesn't take it simply because she has to make amends with her ex. Now she has condemned he...more

Don't pay attention to the unfortunate cover, this book is funny, smart and sad at the same time, and certainly worth your time.
It works, simply because each of us can relate to Lilith. She is thirty something, recently divorced, saddled with a daughter whom she loves dearly, a distantly related hellion niece who accidentally burned her house, and a beautiful step-sister, who can't grow up and get a job.

Just so's you know: I received this book through the R2R scheme.
I'd been in a bit of a reading slump since New Year--or at least, I thought I had. Turns out I just hadn't found the right book. Because despite any cons I may state below, this book was a fun read and I sped through it with total ease.
On the plus side, it made me laugh a fair bit, and I was (not for the first time) pleased to see that a succubus tale doesn't mean the story has to revolve around constant undulations. And the pacin...more

I tired so hard to get into this book but I just couldn't, and for the life of me I have no idea why!!
It was a fun read and I did enjoy the story because it was so original. It also gave a lighter side to serious stuff like death and funerals etc. The problem was that I just wasn't able to connect with it in any way. The character of Lilith Straight was just that, a character, she didn't feel very real to me, and I love characters who I can relate to in some way or another.

I have some serious mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand, it was pretty well-written (some issues that should have been caught in proofreading, which are pretty easily forgiven). I liked the main character, Lilith. In fact, I liked most of the characters, who are a pretty interesting crew. I'm not usually a kid person, but I really enjoyed Lilith's niece, Ariel, and the situations that arose with her. To a certain extent, I liked watching Lilith struggle with what had happened to her,...more

Lilith Straight is divorced, raising her daughter, her ex-husbands niece and has just taken in her half-sister. She is in an accident and dies only to find out she will return to her life, but she is now a Succubus.
