Though Wales is superficially a very nice place to wander around through, especially if you're partial to moss-covered stones, fog, and Arthurian legend, being a peasant there during the century covered in this book really fucking sucked. What was worse, is that local religious "dissenters" actually smashed down social unrest of the lower classes and theocratized the Welsh.
