This is a beautiful book, and a good combination of traditional recipes alongside recipes with twists to them. I loved the bakery and baking blogger features throughout the book, because it connected the recipes to people who bake every day, some of whom were familiar to me.
Because I purchased some local goat cheese at the farmers market, I jumped at the chance to make the Savory Goat Cheese Souffles.

They were delicious, and I apologize that the picture can't be better because I didn't fully gre...more

Here is a public service warning: If you are already feeling conscious about your weight and perhaps are trying to avoid lovely cakes, biscuits and other baked goods turned away now!
Do we have a treat for you! No, not an edible one. Well it might be, but that is not recommended. Put simply here is a wonderful book. Buy it. Read it. Cook from it. Enjoy the results. End of review.

This book was truly a wonderful experience....I relished every second of browsing through the brilliant photography that just kept me salivating and I smiled sharing memories of those similar early baking experiences with an experienced dear, dear aunt....the same the author speaks of with so much passion and love.

Home Baked Comfort is a must have baking book for your cookbook shelf. These easy to follow and mouthwatering recipes hits you right off the bat and makes you want to jump on in to the baking progress. I do have to warn this is not low fat so beware if your one that watches your weight.
I’m a real mom that loves to bake. I have just about every cookbook and baking book I can get my hands on. One thing I’m though is picky about my cookbooks and what stays on my shelf. I want easy to follow recipe...more

What a gorgeous book (received via Netgalley). With this as a tool I could easily weigh 300 pounds by my birthday - and I'd love every minute of getting there. The design of the book is just lovely, from the page backgrounds of parchment paper to the before-and-after photos of the most evil decadent looking cookies and cakes and breads and ... everything. (I particularly love the action shot of confectioner's sugar being sprinkled on.) The book is sprinkled with pages devoted to bakeries from co...more
This is a gorgeous new cookbook from one of my favorite stores Williams-Sonoma. It is well laid out and filled with gorgeous photographs of the completed baked goods. I like the features on various bakeries like Sugar Mama's Bakeshop in Austin, Texas and the Salty Tart in Minneapolis....bakeries you would never had heard of without this book.

Beautiful book. The recipes are elegant and stunning. The pictures captivate the reader and leave you craving something hot and amazing out of the oven. The recipes work in seasonal fruits at the peak of perfection. The crusts are crisp and golden while the breads are soft and aromatic.
The instructions are simple with fairly common ingredients.
A nice touch is the brief interviews of various bakers from around the country. Each offer their own perspective of baking and share a recipe. Grab a cup...more

Well, I only had an e-book version of this to review (thanks to the publisher, WeldonOwen, and NetGalley), but it was BEAUTIFUL! The photographs of the food and the text were all beautifully presented and a delight just to look at, even if you never cook a thing. However, the tips at the beginning were very helpful for a less-than-expert baker such as myself and the recipes seemed simple and easy to follow. Printing appeared to be disabled, so I was unable to actually try any of the recipes, but...more
this cookbook was a joy to read....it's beautifully executed, so that it almost feels like takiing up an beloved and oft-read piece of literature with the graphics, paper....
but what really sets this cookbook apart, in my opinion, is the beginning section on kitchen tools and tips for success, which i always love to see set apart in a section of its own for easy reference..

Wow, Wow, Wow..reviewed for Netgalley, this is a cookbook I need to run out and grab. For the most part, I love William Sonoma cookbooks and this book would be a prime example of why!
First off, the recipes are beautiful, simple and elegant. Yet, even the most novice of bakers could pull these recipes together. One of the things I loved most about it, was that the author gave detailed descriptions and, for most recipes, pictures of various stages of preparation.

This cookbook is amazingly gorgeous! The photography is stunning--these desserts are captured so vividly that they almost leap off the page. The glossy photos are balanced with easy-to-read and attractively typeset recipes. Each page has a very clean, non-busy look to it, but the text is also presented very creatively. I love the way that the background for the recipe pages looks like parchment paper...so cute! Another much-appreciated feature is the inclusion of weights in the ingredients porti...more
Talk about sensory overload! This is a perfect little book for those who love to indulge themselves now and again.
There’s a huge selection of mouth-watering recipes. The book is split into 6 sections: breakfast, breads, cookies & bars, cakes & cupcakes, pies & tarts and custards & soufflés, so there’s definitely something in here for everyone. I also loved the fact that it includes recipes from bakeries around America and can’t wait to try some of these recipes, especially the B...more
